View Full Version : Complete lack of armor for high dex melee types

What would it take to add some armor for rogues, rangers, and other high dex melee characters to wear that isn't either a caster's robe or a monk's outfit? Most other D&D games realize that there are characters in the game who don't wear robes or those goofy martial arts robes but still need zero AC armor to utilize their dex bonus.
Is there any other stat in the game that's limited by lack of gear? I only play rogues so I'm not familiar with gear for other classes. Are there items in the game which prevent sorcerers from using their entire Cha bonus? Are there items which prevent clerics from using their entire Wis bonus? If there are, then never mind :)
If not, please consider the simple change of taking some leather or padded armor and just delete the armor bonus. I don't need new skins or new stats or new abilities. Just delete the +2 off a set of leather or the +1 off a set of padded and we're done.
NWN had loads of armor for high dex characters. Assassin's Garb, Duelist's Outfit, etc...

Ok the short well mannered version.
Read: Sword and Board Armor Class threads, plenty to choose from and Considering the Outfits/Robes out there and the high DEX you mention....Armor Class should not be an issue.
BTW: Icy Rainments dropping 2 x 2 in Subterranean Area....

Hi, since you didn't read this thread, I'll explain the point to you more briefly:
The guy wants dex armor that looks like armor, not like a bathrobe. DDO has plenty of cool-looking thief/commando/ninja armor as leather or padded, but no DDO characters will wear it because either metal or cloth is better for them.
This has been a periodic complaint ever since DDO was in beta.

yeah could we get outfits that look like "Hawk the Slayer", rather than "The two lives of Fu Manchu"

I wholly support the idea of bathrobe armor, but I'd like to be able to equip a towel in one hand and a scroll or book with the visible words "DON'T PANIC" in the other.

LOTRO has solved this problem, by introducing the outfit system. Basically you have 2 slots for your armor, 1 for the one that you want to apply effects to, and then the other is the what you want everyone to see. Basically apply the effects from one slot and display the graphics from another slot

Yeah. I think that while the OP didn't explain his point very well, the intent was nonetheless obvious: he would like some 0 AC, no max Dex, that looks like armor and not a robe or martial arts outfit.

I thought the OP explained himself very accurately actually. I thought you just read it wrong as he was very explicite in what he was saying.

you have some of the best armor available, the only catch its very flowy and not butch at all
what you would need would be a robe or outfit with the skin of padded armor and chainmail. Bit of a weird fit.
