There are two chests that spawn. The first is a standard chest and the second larger one holds the rare items. And yes, all those items dropped in one run in the big chest.

3 Named items you say? How cool would it be if that chest had a chance to drop every named item in the game. Not including end rewards or raid loot. Everything from those junky Harbour quest trinkets through to Bloodstones and boots of the innocent... Just my random thoughts...

Judging by the wide range of stuff dropping, I'd say that it's in both spots, but that's just my own opinion. We'd have to go back and farm GoP until someone pulls it there too, to be certain.

Its the big giant skelly in the silo with the traps, I saw somewhere around a sub central map on the forums, not sure where atm tho :/

edit:
http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=149639&

Here it is, at the northern part is a portal marked with C, the portal only spawns devils if the rare didnt spawn and you cant enter, if Garamon does spawn, the portal can be entered.

I was in the Sub run with Jamie and other members of CK yesterday. That chest was probably the coolest event of the day after grinding through the bugged walls in the Ice caves and a nearly impossible Time frame in which to save the Dragon. I kind of like the idea of getting "guaranteed" random named loot from one location. Like Jamie said, "No one in the group really needed the Icy Raiments on the toons they ran ", but it was still cool. There are plenty other issues that need attending to I'm sure to reflect on the downtime. Please don't take away Christmas.

I expect a nerf upcoming to be not removal of the items or lessening of the drops, but lessening of the rare spawn, and probably more living spells. I expect they'll make us work for it. So the subterrane lives up still to its design as a truly high level raid group explorer area which is fine for me. I don't ever expect to solo anything for the Icy Raiment or similar good stuff.

EDIT: The first person to say in party chat "no sacrifice, no victory!" from Transformers is getting squelched. Just shhh and keep swinging.

I'd be a fan of keeping the current spawn rate; but adding two living spells to the encounter with the rare - one Harm and one Polar Ray. That'd make it something you'd want to take 12 to - whereas when PUGging, IMO the optimal group size for it is about 6-8 so people don't get lost.

Yup, post hotfix I have seen:
Icy Rainmentx2
Sunbladex3
Mace of Smitingx1
Frostbrandx2
Flame Tonguex1
Dwarven Throwerx1

My guess is that the chest is set to drop random named loot.

BTW, that was in 2 runs with 12 peeps. Much better odds than running GoP with 6.

Unfortunately, it took us a long time to get him to spawn (8 runs or so) and on the last attempt the room bugged when we kill boss and we all ended up floating till a GM showed up. She or he had to spawn the boss and kill him again to turn off trap.

My monk barely is approaching 13 while my sniper ranger is just about 12 and my pure rogue is 6....it will take a while for me.

one thing you might wanna try to increase the spawn rate of the named skellie....when we do guild runs we activate every rune(in sub central) before going to the skellie rune,it has yet to not spawn using that method...3-4 runs pre mod 8 and 4-5 runs post mod 8.

It's obviously not intended; loot of this sort dropping at the frequency people are claiming will cause havok to this game in manifold ways.

So, if you are honest enough to admit it either a) isn't meant to be dropping all this unique loot that was formerly attached to specific quests, or b) that it was, but at a far more realistic miniscule rate, then ergo c) you are exploiting but hiding behind the fact Turbine is too busy tod eal with it now, they are not not sure how they caused it, or simply you don't care, which I suppose is as valid a feeling as any for the average sociopathic MMO player.

Icy rainments for the unemployed 14 hour-a -day looters! And bloodstones for the chronically sleep-deprived who are employed! Hurray! Nah, none of this will turn this whole game into some sort of awesome snob fest!

Great little lootz run by the DEVS. There are three entrances, if one doesn't let you in, check the others. Only one entrance is kinda out of the way. It is actuallly a fun little fight and great potential for rewards. Even if some stuff is lowbie stuff, with new toon slot, I am sure you can make use of it. Happy Ransacking!

Saw 3 raiments drop from one chest.

Thanks for making fools out the people like me who spent weeks farming GoP

The other thing that really irritates me is the fact that within a couple of days every rogue, ranger and monk above level 12 will look exactly the same. Having everyone in the game wearing minos legens was pretty lame, but at least everyone just typed in /showhelmet off - now we are all going to be in matching PJ's.

The only other useful loot in there is the sunblade, which would be great if I were leveling a ranger to wear the free PJ's, but I'm not.

Could you at least hand out free chattering rings while you're at it? I have spent months trying to get one and haven't been able to - I think i'm done grinding for loot in this game, what a joke.

I think the percieved value of Icy Rainment will drop as one can now make a Dragontouched Robe with a +3 dodge bonus for the Soverign slot, plus two other effects in the other two spots that should be quite superior the the rainment: http://forums.ddo.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=1912272

Hmmm... maybe we should take sshots of the portals before we turn them on to see if they have different light bright sets glowing... or maybe there's a sign in one of the earlier caverns that tells you 1, 2, or 3 so you know which portal to go to. If you can find it and post... you can be the forum's SCREENSHOT WINNER OF THE MOD (even accepting non DX10).

Ran this rare 5 or 6 times yesterday. Saw and got a few of the nameds that have been mentioned (didn't see a Bloodstone though). Jumped in a Cursed Crypt run to get the amulet upgraded and tried to explain the high frequency dropping of named items and to list all the named items that were dropping from the giant skelly loot chest. At some point I was probably rambling in remembrance of all the named non-specific items I hadn't seen in the chest. I then got fully trashed on for "spoiling the new raid" and "bragging about all my looting". Sheesh... I'm sure it had nothing to do with my "note" about how all our non-wfg'ed casters seemed to die vs. the named skelly.

Note to self: Fleshy casters are touchy about their lameness.

Nope! That would be written in DWARVEN, not GIANT. :D

As for the entrances, I am not sure about he ruins, but as I said earlier (or in another post), I believe there are three entrances. One in the east, and two in the central. The two in the central are easy to get to. Directions are below...

ENTRANCE 1) Head like you are heading to the hound. In the big room (this room is prior to going through the door to the east entrance portal where beholder and mind flayer are), drop down hard two levels to your left and go underneath where you were to the NE corner of the room. There is a mindflayer there. That is one of the entrances.

ENTRANCE 2) The same directions to the big room as above. Except, instead of dropping down two levels, drop one and stay head N in the center. There is a door there. Go through that door, make a left and a quick right (might be door here) and another quick right and you are there. There will be a small fight and a shrine.

If he is not at one, he might be at other. If not at either of these two, then the third entrance continues along same run, but is in that room to the left (where the rune sometimes spawns that unlocks the entrance to shrine, where the named flenser sometimes appears -- the one just prior to gong through the portal to the three beholder fight). That is a much longer run that is easier to just recall, reform and rerun the other two.

Of four runs, he was at one of the first two three of four.

Mind you, I also add these directions so folks might be able to take some snaps of the giant runes so we can decipher this riddle of FLIMSY's.

Mmm-hmm. Anyone learn to read giant yet?

I could be way off base, but here is my observation:

In Lord Of The Rings...not the game..the movie..Liv Tyler learned how to speak Elvish.
Is it possible that there is a written/spoken Giant language? If so, then is it possible that they have something written or something a monster says down in the sub that we can understand only if we take the time to research this?

What if there is more to Mod 8 that we dont/wont discover until we solve this little riddle?

I am sorry If I am rambling a bit. I need more coffee :) Still trying to get geared up for a night of Trick Or Treating with 3 kids.

What I'm showing with that picture is that there's basically the same giant text used everywhere, and that there is so little variation in it that it's helpless to try to figure out what the words mean.

That isn't to say it's impossible that the runes are providing some information. Even if the words themselves are gibberish, maybe their position or angle changes a little based on the location of the Garamol portal.

It's absolutely intended. They even put in a hotfox for for other chests but left this one alone.

Then it meandered from being unintentional to being possibly short-sighted as to the size of its future playerbase. We shall see. It's only my opinion, and I can't play 16 hours a day/7 days a week to be a fully qualified "DDO pundit", but it seems loot inflation tends to hyper-intense grinding and "loot runs" which in turn leads to a small group of fanatical addicts who stay with the game and the majority slowly leaving for other games so once again gaming feels like a GAME rather than a full-time JOB, or simply quit gaming all together out of the intense, neurotic emphasis on"efficiency" that the remaining player base put on almost all their gaming. I personally prefer to be very efficient at my job to earn real-life "plat", and leave the gaming for some serious thought, devotion, and removal from reality, but not to the point where I abandon pursuit of a worthy, decent career and self-development physically, mentally, and spiritually. When games "jump the shark" and become entirely about looting and the consequent raids that inevitably attach to them (or "loot runs") it quickly becomes a new career and not a past-time that could rightfully be devoted to somewhat as a loved hobby.

Go read a few posts on wowdetox.com and see whether this looting running is really something you are choosing, or MMO developers just know how to apply random operant conditioning on us big children who consequently get sucked into these games and make them JOBS due to underlying weak-will and lack of a careful analysis that we've taken a hobby way too far. I'm as much a victim of it at times too, sadly, but would simply caution self introspection and development of will power in this area of hobbies to put a firm lid on its intrusion into full-blown self-destructive addiction process caused by maybe the most cleverly applied random operant conditioning the world has ever devised.

Pertaining to A_D's photo of the runes...

Total speculation here, but perhaps they are trying to let us know that there is more to be done with crafting.

Also, since Flimsy continues to drop clues about the Garamon encounter, maybe there is more to it than meets the eye. I would guess that it has something to do with what runes are where.. Dunno

The top two images, the block of runes they have in common, the 3rd column is just flipped vertically then horizontally from the 1st column.

Only real way to figure it out would be to take a screen shot of each portal as you go in and if it leads to Garamol you keep it in the Garamol photo pile. After 3-4 screen shots that lead to Garamol you compare them and see how they differ from those that don't lead to him.

My theory follows that of yours A_D, a small change in position or angle would be the likely indicator. All the Garamol pics though should be the same if thats the case.

They don't differ.

They don't differ.

Well nuts. That would have been the logical way to do it if they differed but if the "text" is always the same.

We really don't know if the Giant Language is "symbol" based cuniform (sp), or more of a runic based "Roman" system...what we need is a Rosetta Stone that gives us the base translations, and lets us go from there.

Well since all WF can read giant if they are wearing a docet its kind of odd we can't read it, guess the devs haven't read the rule book :p

Wow, them elf women are nice...

I believe I've figured out how to tell where the named is,

First take a look at this picture:
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j84/SS6Trunks/ScreenShot00019.jpg
Then at this one:
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j84/SS6Trunks/ScreenShot00021.jpg

Notice the Difference?
The 1 symbol of difference seems to point towards the Named skelly,
here it is again in a 2nd location:
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j84/SS6Trunks/ScreenShot00025.jpg
Right after this symbol was a portal that led to the skelly.

This is still just a theory, but it managed to let me suggest that he was at a portal before flipping the rune.

That said, I got my rogue a rainment yesterday:)

You are wrong. Dodge bonus on the new robes does not stack with chattering ring. Rainments will stay the superior choice. I will however craft a few situational armors.
