i still run xp, and played ddo til about midnight last night, but since updating today, i cant play. after i login and select my server, the screen goes black, and where i would normall get the splash screen, i now get an error. the spicif error is:
the instruction at '0x05aabb60' referenced memory at '0x001c00c'. the memory could not be 'read'.
i have absolutely no idea what that means, but i am hoping someone on here does and can help.

Open up your userpreference.ini file and check the CoreGraphic= to make sure it reads D3D9 and not D3D10. Change if needed.
To find the userpreference.ini, open your windows menu and use the search bar at the bottom, type userpreference.ini and go from there.

GraphicsCore=D3D9
that wasnt it, but you did at least get me hopeful for a minute. i contacted turbine support and they want me to do a 'clean boot', but i cant test it with the servers being down, so i suppose i will wait a while and then see if it works.
thanks though

First go to documents>ddo and remove the userpreferences.ini - then find out what type of audio card you have for your system and get its drivers, currently you have the "default" hd audio drivers. Also try playing with just 2 gigs of ram since it is reporting a memory related issue - especially if you upgraded the ram yourself.

Paul from chat support helped me out. We followed those steps and he recommened unplugging my headset and updating my sound card drivers. Updating the sound card drivers got DDO up and running. Headset is plugged in and still working. Thanks.
