I didn't know where to put this, so it's going here.
I love to watch those Urban ninja videos online and off. I've tried it also, and to my unfortunate luck, not succeeded like the guys on the videos.
So, can DDO programmers design a level where jumping and tumbling are necessary to succeed? Jumping between large gaps, floating (Feather fall) between huge gaps, tumbling under and around obstacles, and have multiple heights. Imagine having your character jumping between gaps that are fifteen stories tall! Or, rolling under a crevice that only a young halfing could ever imagine entering?
Yes, it'll be a hard level, but **** it would be fun for all those tumbling and jumping enthusiast!

I plugged "Urban ninja videos" into a Google search. Looks like fun. At my age it would kill me, but it is fun to watch.
I think I get the spirit of your suggestion. How about this:"So, can DDO programmers design a level where jumping and tumbling provide one method to succeed?".
And, for what ...V... said, yes. I could see how this would present a challenge :)

I do this all the time in Jorasco and the Marketplace. I will just endlessly jump around rooftops and ledges trying to get to new and different places. Lots of fun. Sometimes I waste 20 minutes doing it while I am waiting for a good LFM.

Unless there was another method of success as well (and that would be the one used by 95% of the population) then no, that would be a horrible idea. Not everyone has twitch skills and some classes (go cleric...) would be miserable, thus making the quest less played than the Pit.

Yeah my cleric would love that...
Heh ... yea ... good luck getting a healer for a quest like that :)
Although I am building a monk cleric right now that seems to not sink when he makes a jump ... that is a good start.

Didn't the Japanese players get something like this?

Have you been to The Pit or Coalescence (sp) Chamber yet?

Do you remember the Celestial Stairway during the week long celebration?
That was kind of a twitch thing ... I made it to the top ... once. Waited an hour for lord what his name to show up ... he never did.

I have a great idea for the music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O63XYq0Nmpg) for just such a level!

Yup, the server that was shut down and therefore shouldn't be the model for the future did have a special event (not a quest) that had a jumpfest.

Common logic would say that there would be more to the level than just jumping. No, I have not been to the chambers. the idea was mainly directed to Rogues. It can be like a gauntlet for rogues. Anyway, I just think if the developers can make a 'Roller coaster" type of level, with the air currents speeding you through different areas. I think this would also be fun.

Not to be harsh but it sounds like a single player console game and not at all in spirit with the concept (however loose that seems to be lately)Turbine has going here with DDO.

I seriously thought I was going to be Rickrolled there. Even took off my headset just in case.
