View Full Version : Looking for Dwarf Intimitank advice

I'm currently leveling up a Dwarven Intimitank, and was looking for some advice. He's currently at level 13 (Fghtr 10 / Pally 3) - I was originally planning on going Fghtr 12 / Pally 4, but am now considering taking a few rogue levels for evasion.

Wondering if the 3 point AC drop I'd have to take going from MFP to MBP is worth Evasion and UMD from the rogue levels? I'd also be giving up some HP, BAB, and 1 intimidate skill point (Fghtr Intim requires Fghtr lvl 12...)

My goals with this character are to be able to intimidate pretty much everything, have high survivability when turtling up against bosses, and not be completely useless dps-wise vs trash mobs.

Here's my current AC breakdown:
10 base
10 +5 Mithral Breast Plate
9 +5 Tower Sheild
7 Dex
1 Dodge
2 Chaos Guard
5 Combat Expertise
5 Protection item
2 Pally aura
----
51 completely unbuffed

5 Ranger (My static group has a high lvl ranger - I nearly always have this available)
3 Full pally (Static group also has 16 pally)
1 Haste (Sorc in static group keeps us hasted nearly 100% of the time)
----
60 typically buffed

Potential with equipment I don't yet have
3 Chattering Ring
4 Shroud Insight
2 Alchemy
----
69 max

Saves will end up in the mid to high 20s. I don't know all the possible ways to increase the Intimidate skill yet, but it looks like I should be able to get into the low 50s?

I play very very casually with a static group, so I haven't even seen much of the end-game content yet. Wondering if this build will remain viable through end-game?

Besides the yea/nay evasion issue, any other advice or feedback on the build below? Again, I've already leveled him up to 13 so I can only change feats / enhancements from 1-13.

Thanks!

You can always use mithral fullplate if it seems to you the quest ahead has more threats from melee damage than from reflex spells.

Remember that UMD will greatly increase your chance of obtaining a +15 intimidate item, which probably outweighs the -1 skill enhancement.

10 +5 Mithral Breast Plate
Although you might not want to try to get it, there are light armors giving more AC. Kundarak Delving Suit.

The only thing I don't like about that idea is that I'd have to keep all 4 Fighter / Dwarf armor mastery enhancements for when I switch to MFP to take full advantage of the +7 dex bonus. Maybe I can pick up a Daggertooth belt to switch along with the MFP...

Very good point, hadn't thought of that...

Thanks for pointing me towards the Delving Suit (http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s220/jgould2005/DDO/Items/KundarakDelvingSuit.jpg). It has the same +10 AC bonus as +5 MBP, but I didn't know about the higher max dex bonus which will allow me to drop another armor mastery enhancement.

Thanks for the input A_d... you've solidified my decision to go with evasion..

Just a quick note, Solumedes requires a 53 intim AFTER the -4 size difference being you are a dwarf. If you can't hit that, tweak your build to make sure you can...

-Wolf.

Good to know about the 53 intim requirement for that boss - thanks. Pretty sure only halflings get the -4 to intimidate though, so I should be good there...

Only Halflings are small. Dwarfes count as Medium sized and so dont get the -4 to intimidate.
