"Lag Fix" Confusion............

I think We need a statement from someone at the Main office about this, as there seems to be a great deal of confusion about the subject.

Here's what I gleaned from all the posts I read:

1. The hardware upgrade and The "Lag issue" are separate issues.

2. Upgrading the hardware will not necessarily fix the lag.

3. They are continuing to investigate the causes of the lag.

Tolero, could You please give us a definitive statement about this? It would go a long way to end all the confusion here in the forums..........

Not a developer, but as I understood it, the upcoming Monday maintenance is part 2 of the lag fix. The hardware upgrade was part 1 (albeit only partly related to lag - ie, they would have done it even without the lag).

They've posted about it many times already.

1. The hardware upgrade will occur in two stages. The first was on Wednesday, and the second will be next Monday. You shouldn't see any noticeable changes until it both stages are complete.(Upgrading half of a system to a faster part won't make a difference if the other half becomes the bottleneck at that point) This was already planned and had nothing to do with the lag.

2. The lag problem is a separate issue. They are hoping the hardware upgrades will fix the lag issue, but if not, they will continue to work to resolve it.
