A continuation of the popular "Ask the Devs" segment of DDOCast,
we've taken our developers off the mic to answer some of the questions that didn't fit into the show recording.
Here is this week's Ask the Devs question!

"There has been alot of rumors and questions about the level cap as to whether it will be 2 levels for 8 and last 2 levels for 9 or all at once for level 9 and can you elaborate a little to what the new enhancements for the Fighters and Paladins are getting as in what will they actually do as im sure they won't be exactly like pnp. and is there any chance that we might get some kind of rewards for favor in between 400 and 1750? since we have tieflings as npc characters and villians any way to incorperate them as playable toons??

- Sean"

Producer Glin says:

"We're currently working to increase the level cap to 20 for Module 9, which would result in a level increase from level 16 up to 20. This of course means that we'll be having to add new abilities, spells, etc for that increase. Be sure to stop by the Community Team's thread to let us know what spells you're interested in seeing! We've already seen a lot of great feedback and ideas in that thread, so keep it coming!"
Developer Eladrin says:

"For Module 8, paladins will enjoy new spells such as Zeal (a sacred bonus to attack speed), Lionheart (a low level fear immunity buff), and Stalwart Pact (a luck bonus, damage reduction, and hit point boost for dire situations). Even Clerics, Sorcerers, and Wizards will see some new spells. Fighters will now have the Fighter Weapon Specialization line of enhancements, that can add bonuses to damage."
Associate Producer Nanook says:

"We've actually talked about more things that we can do with the favor system. A lot of players enjoy working towards various favor achievements, and the prestige that comes with being a player who has favor rewards, and we definitely want to continue to add incentives for players who like to work towards favor achievements."
Senior Producer Kate Paiz says:

"We get a lot of requests for various types of playable character races. Our next races we'd like to work on however are the Half-orc and the Half-elf, which we'd like to release at the same time. The Half-elf has similar qualities to two races that already exist in our game - humans and elves - and didn't feel as rich compared with the prospect of the strength based Half-orc. So we felt it would be better to still offer the Half-elf, but at the same time as the Half-orc. Players who enjoy variety in their choice of race will have a nice selection to pick from!"

Do you have a question for the developers? Be sure to visit DDOCast (http://www.ddocast.com)and send your questions to host Jerry Snook for a chance to get your question answered in the Ask the Devs portion of the podcast!

My head hurts now. Kate gave me another Billy Madison moment...

I'm in the minority that really would like 1/2-elves in the game (if they do the Mark of Storms well). This is Eberron after all...

It i sgreat that they tell they are wroking on it but an ETA woudl be nice like mod 9 or 10, because without some sort of ETA it might as well be vaporware

Oh QFT, man. Historically speaking, being mentioned by Kate lowers its chances of ever making it into the game.. :p

it appears as if they made a choice between half-elf & half-orc based on one or the other

due to dwarf proliferation, this game needs half-orcs very bad IMO right now

half-elf might be cool, but we need half-orcs more because we already have elves & humans

half elves are very easy to do as the human model can be used, just like elves was for drow, the racial features are not complicated I imagine. Half orcs on the other hand require a new model, which they could use the orc as a starting point, but from there they will have to ensure all armor models look good on the new model and that it gets all the proper player character animations including emotes. They could probably give us half elves now, but we woudl probably just go blah who needs those I want half orc, putting them out together is easier to market.

Oooh, I wonder how the half-orc will dance ? Any conjectures ? I for one hope it is true blue disco version of Travolta..... :D

Gnomes and Half and Elfs. Bo-ring. Soilent Green is Gnome people... and it tastes sooo good.

Half-Orcs, Tieflings, Aasimar, Shifters (you know... one of the new Eberron races). Bring it on.

So Half-Orcs in Mod 10? Excellent.

It seems to me that it would be much simpler to use the warforged graphic for Half-orcs and just color it in as fleshy. With the introduction of Half-elves, I'm wondering about Half-drow, too.

wondering what history do half elves bring to Eberron? Well, I knmow two other races that have more:

MAKE GNOMES AND SHIFTERS!

(OK, changlings too :p )

Edit: Wait, we can unplug developers? How long can they last on standby mode? ;)

Faces/textures/colors would all be different, but the silhouette, movement and whatnot could be the same without losing much. I'm not trying to argue that it won't be a lot of work, and I'm also sure I'm not saying something that hasn't been considered by the pros.

whats our dealine for questions?

Deadline's passed - for this week's show. However, this is pretty much a process that's always going on, so please send in your questions! I've still got plenty of room for the next show, and of course now with the Ask the Devs Unplugged thing seen in the Chronicle, there's pretty much lots of ways to get it answered. Send 'em to ddocast{at}gmail.com.
