Ahhhh nothing like going to Massively and reading the article while being bombarded with banner ads for every MMO (CoH, AoC, WoW and Lotro) but the game you are reading about!
Mmmm that's goodness. Can't wait for the next five to ten months to pass so we can get some High Level Player Retention content.
I am, Rameses!

I am hoping the whole new experience thing is all about getting new blood into the game. I just hope they followup on the development with marketing.
And yeah I'm bored with the higher level content as well.
Please hammer the marketing for Christmas...getting new players in during the holidays and then giving them/us an update in January would seem to be a really good plan.
I'm senile so I'm not bored with the high level content--it's always new!
:)
I am however frustrated with the constant devouring wrath of the lag monsters.

IMHO, this New Player Experience is coming about a year (or more) too late.
There is no advertising for DDO, so what is going to bring in new players?
There is no longer a free trial for DDO, so what is going to entice new players?
We can recommend a friend, but how many are like me in that they've already had their friends check it out?
Why is the impetus on us to draw in new players, anyways? I understand that Atari has fumbled the ball on advertising for a very long time now - but requiring new players to either be referred by existing players or buy the game? Really? That is what we've come to? The article advertising is okay, for what it is... but how is a new player whose curiosity is peeked by the article supposed to get into the game?
The NPE is good stuff. I just wonder what impact it will have in drawing in new players - if any.

ya gotta bring back the free trial if ya want new players, they might read the article get excited only to find out no free trial so they go try something else.

I agree.
And in addtion to that, interestingly enough, the link in the buddy subscription email doesn't even work... It takes you to an old version of the downloader that errors out, you then have to find the new version on the web page it offers to send you to, and then you have to download the new downloader. I have to say my buddy wasn't impressed - not much of a NPE.

Looking at some of the pictures posted is this an introduction of prestige classes or just a "skill tree" hold your hand along the path of lvling in DDO?

It's definitely intended as a guiding hand for players who aren't comfortable with D&D 3.5 rules, but want to be able to dive into the game with a character. These are not to be confused with a "prestige class".

Well hopefully there will be some other changes also going in at Mod 8 to cut back on plat farmer spam.
What's funny though is that even though the plat spam has slowed since Trial Accounts have been removed, I'm back to getting at least 1 tell a night.

Agree.
They need to put a setting in to "remove" ding when sent a tell, and 90% of message irritation will simply go away, and this will not matter.

I'd rather have more spam than less players.

Agreed. Less players = more trouble grouping = even less players = less money for Turbine to maintain the game = dead game.

I agree who really cares.. just Ignore the tell .. I mean come on you should see my guild chat it's like a stockmarket ticker. I think we can ignore the spam tells...
More players ....by free trial... With the co-joining of the new mod and a free trial it just might capture some new players

So the loss of the WDA has culminated in this?
I really hope there are more articles coming about high level stuff in MOD 8 and what to expect in MOD9.
