I have been playing on Thelanis almost since DDO came out. Thelanis is my main server, but Sarlona is also a real nice server. I may consider switching over one of my 1750 Favor toons and make Sarlona by non-main server. I have some questions before switching a toon over from Thelanis.

What are some of the top 10 guilds of Sarlona? [On Thelanis its Storm Lords, Legion, Infamous Flaming Vagabonds, Dark Exile, Dwat, Dead Blades, Maelstrom Tharask, Bane, Cataclysm, and Inferus Sus--or at least the 10 I can think of off the top of my head]

How are the Auction House prices on Sarlona? [Similar to Thelanis, Higher, Lower?]

I heard that there are some unique items on Sarlona (some other servers don't have much of)...is this true?
Examples: Vorpal Sickle of Haggle ml:6, no min lvl skyvault sheild, and Gaunlet's of Ogre Power +2?

The reason why I'd like to switch is so I, a good player, and long-term player, can be a great addition to the Sarlona server.

Welcolme to Sarlona an without getting into too lengthy of explanations here are my views.

IMO...

As far as the best guilds I wont get into. There are many alliances and so to say one guild or another gets kinda fuzzy at times. At least with those I group with anyway. Plus it depends what you are planning to do. RPers have thier guilds, casuals, hardcore, PD etc. Alot depends on what it is you want to do. I see alot of flavor here. Also depends on what time you play. We have Aussies, Chinese (not the farming type), North American etc. Guild selection I would recommend is to PUG alittle and see who is playing when you are, and who plays your style. Most of the time it is easy to PUG, unless you have earned a bad reputation for.. well the usual stuff that ticks people off.

Auction prices I cannot comment on. I don't really keep too much track of that or use it too often. That is probably why I get alot of stuff sold quickly there.

Unique items are present. You will see lowbies carring around some of the stuff (esp shields with no ML) . As far as being common to buy... a whole nother story. Most were looted soon after MOD releses and before the restrictions were later added. They also seem to be handed down from character to character, or from a guildie leaving gave to guildie.

Well I hope I helped, at least a little. If you do transition over welcolme. Look forward to possibly seeing you in game.

Welcome to Aerenal.....I mean Sarlona. :D

Top 10 Guilds?

I´ll limit myself to state that depending on your playstyle and to whom you end up Pugging with....you´ll probably find a welcoming crowd for sure.

Use the Who search feature at the regular times you are on, look at the LFM´s and check out the Guild to which the Raidleader belongs to, run with them and rinse and repeat.....

Can´t list the RP, PD Guilds really.

Powergamers probably 5 worth mentioning and casuals.....galore.

If you are casual and/or powergamer look us up, although we aren´t actively looking to grow our numbers (and rarely have in almost 2 yrs) we always like meeting new people.(Gravis is probably best described as a "Casual approach to Powergaming") so you´ll find the Psycho Loot ***** (Magnicallis ) running with the "I´m here to have fun and make you spew your coffee on your monitor" Village Idiot...(Yorrick).

Brilliant, as always Dex.

too many good guils to list. You will recognize them quickly. Welcome to sarlona.

Do note it's not always the biggest guilds that are the best. Sure, a lot of the big guilds are great and solid in every way, but some of the big guilds got that way by recruiting everyone, and included in that everyone is always a certain percentage of players who just "Don't Get It".

Oh, and, yes, there are a lot of Chinese players here. They can understand basic written instructions, but rarely complicated or spoken ones. You'll figure it out when you group with them.

ill include a list of some of the guilds who i have run raids with and who have done well (and i've had fun with). I'll only include ones I have been with which have been able to fill nearly the entire raid roster with guild members. By no means exhaustive, this includes: Caffiene, Bloodcloak clan, The Bleeding, Gravis Negotium, Legion, Eridani Light horse, Black Mantis, (and my own guild of course, though we arent as raid-centric as the previously listed guilds from my past experience).

I haven't listed a few very fine guilds that seem to have gone into semi-hiding (probably waiting for mod 8). Also, there are some I haven't run with in quite some time, so i cant really comment on their current state.

Decent start there Leafy, IMHO there are a couple of very good guilds missing though. I would also include Soulless, NeoSkullriders, Lost Legion, Untouchable, Legends of Aerenal and The Harpers (a crazy [OH THE BAD WORDS TASTE SO GOOD] bunch there ;)).

Again, this is my opinion only and IN ADDITION to your already solid listing.

Lots of people in hibernation right now--I myself will be on vacation for about 10 days, starting Saturday. . .Y'all better run that water while I am gone :)

There are a lot of fun people, and fun guilds. . .And there are guilds that don't always pug, but pugs are pretty easy to find. . . Put up an LFM and it should fill, if it is not at a crazy odd time.

Good Luck

The Harpers (a crazy [OH THE BAD WORDS TASTE SO GOOD] bunch there ;)).

Kinder words have never been spoken. :D

People just like us because we pimp out our female members, and make them talk dirty to you, and other things (you'd be surprised what you can do with DDO emotes).

Since we have a very high population of female players, we're pretty popular. Though we actually suck at accomplishing things in game. We pay other guilds to do that for us. Usually with the promise of aforementioned favors, delivered by our aforementioned female members.

Harper pimps YO!!!

To the OP.

It's really going to depend on when you play. I play late night (10pm-2am CST). There are plenty of very good players, representing some very good guilds on even at that time, and later.

My guild plays late night, with a few stragglers playing at other odd times.

I don't know what other servers are like, but Sarlona as a whole is pretty tightly knit. There are a lot of guild alliances.

The better guilds always have pretty high recruitment standards, so finding a good guild won't be easy, but worth it if you're patient.

The Harpers BTW don't actively recruit. We're purely a word of mouth guild. We're actually very sorry if you're ever unfortunate enough to get stuck in a raid with us.

I would agree with you on most, but **** if that wasn't a fast and fun Hound run Wednesday night. And you all were yelling at me for zerging, how funny was that???

Kill to Live does actively recruit, but only people who are currently not guilded. Aside from a few individuals in a guild, I'd have to say that which ever guild you decide to go with, you'll be happy, as long as you decide based on your play style and how well you and they mesh. I've yet to see an entire guild of arsehats on Sarlona.

If you want, give me a shout in game (characters in tag) and I can tell you more about KTL, or check the "Who" panel for a member. Really good group of people though (and yes, I am biased towards them)

That was a good run. Nobody had forgotten to get the quest (even though we nearly killed you for that little prank). Nobody got lost. Nobody decided to run around picking up stones and not telling anybody. I personally like that one. The ensuing panic is priceless. "Oh, I just thought they were gems" ;)

Anyway, we weren't necessarily yelling at you, but rather letting our chagrin be known that we were not impressed with your ability to be super-efficient, while also talking on the phone. Not when we're all sitting at our keyboards, with sweat dripping from our brows. I personally work up a good lather in raids. ;):D:p

Welcome to Sarlona ^_^

Hope you find yourself a comfy home here. I cant get into who are the top 10 guilds because as others have put it, it all depends on how you run. What I do know is there are a lot of nice people some who like to help others some who can teach you things about quests that you may not have even known. I hope you make tons of friends on this server as its one of the best IMHO.

Welcome to Sarlona!

Hopefully you will enjoy your stay and meet all the interesting(good and bad) guilds/people we have here:D

Lately I have been grouping with harpers, shrug, blacksouls and even some savagely talented dragonslayers. I tend to pug alot with my bards so I know there are many more awesome guilds out there but those are the guilds of the week for me this month:)

Was wondering when I would see the savagely talented dragonslayers mentioned, great bunch, there are MANY good guilds on Sarlona, if you are looking for some flavor come and run with E M P I R E in the sub, our leader Magnito and a few others really know there way around down there. What I would suggest is pug around and find some friends, oh and btw if you are on in the AM eastern time you will have plenty of opportunity to pug with all chinese groups, its a blast and they are very understanding when you can't understand what they are saying :D
cheers
