I just started playing a few weeks ago. I am a casual player - maybe 5-8 hours per week. I played with a party about a couple weeks ago or so and they invited me to their guild. I said I was a very casual player and that it might not be a good idea, but they insisted that new, non-noob blood was good for them (after complimenting me on my game). I accepted and thought this could be a good deal.
Over the next few days, I got together with them maybe once or twice, and another time they wanted to do a quest that was too low for me. (I was lvl 5 by that time.) The next time I logged in, I was no longer in that guild - no explanation, email, note, nothing.
So - I have been soloing since, with a few PUGs here and there.
Please tell me this was an example of a sub-par guild and not a typical guild here in DDO . . . (sigh)

Ahhh... if you're on argo i heard of an incident where most of a guild got wiped by an angry officer. Could be what happened.

What server are you on? Please PM me the name of the guild if you are on Ghallanda.
But yeah, it can happen when you are new. Two guilds I was in disbanded early on cuz they were started by new guys who ended up getting invited into larger guilds. It's probably nothing.

Bad guild or at the very least one loose cannon in there it looks like....
Not typical from my experiences.
The only characters that routinely get booted are those who have not logged in over 3 months, unless we have specific info on them or a current champion who wants to keep them on the list for some reason. It helps keep the roster more manageable to cull the VERY inactive from the list.

Server is Thelanis. Good to hear this was probably an abberation.
So - if any guild out there is good for the casual and (ahem) a bit more mature player, let me know. My current character is Ra5/Ro1/F1.
(I played PnP D&D back in first edition - and second - and then third edition in PC games, and 3.5 in NWN & NWN2 - and here.)
aaaaand - I am about 8 points shy of drow favor. Wizzy McWizzbang, her I come! :p

Could you PM the name? BTW, my guild on Thelanis is a very casual guild with a good rep. You sound like our type of person. To date, we haven't tossed anybody. People leave on their own accord.

there is a guild or two completely aimed at low levels, once you get too high you're asked to move on. But if you were booted w/o a word I seriously doubt this was one of them. More than likely you got in a guild ran by kids who are a finicky bunch. They tend to die out once you hit the mid levels, and are extremely rare at level cap (or they learn to hide very well, by not using VC)
most of the respectable guilds in game wont boot you w/o talking to you first to atleast let you know why, atleast in my experience.

Probably just a lowbie/small guild disbanding... could be that someone had invited you as some kind of cruel joke. Dosen't sound like Best Server Ever! (ie Thelanisian Behavior). Yet our curiosity knows no bounds, and please be so kind as to pm me the name. Maybe it will even help unravel the story.

I actually do not recall the name of the guild, but th4e name was one of those 'red flag' names, like "Guild of Darkity Dark Evil Chaos". I did not know the name when I accepted the invite, but when I saw it, I though to myself, "Uh-oh." Normally, I would have declined an offer from such a name, but they spoke (typed) like actual mature, intelligent people :p
Hmm - it is Wed - I may be on tonight . . .

Is the guild still around? I think that if someone disbands the guild everyone gets the boot. I have never been booted from a guild except once, when I went from Ghallanda to Sarlona just over a year ago, didn't log into Ghallanda for about 9 months, then when I went back there to have a nostalgic look at my noob character building attempts as soon as I logged in I got an expelled from guild message. I would have booted me too, after being gone for over half a year.

I take that kind of badly. im a kid (14), i play PNP, and i have 1 capped cleric, 1 15 sorc, 1 14 rouge/ranger, and a couple 10-13's, i play casually, use VC, and am in one of the best guilds of Khyber.
But thats just me ranting.
And u are absolutely right. Most kids are finiky, never join a guild led by one, -almost- never join a group led by one, and if u find one in the high levels, most likely he/she is playing parents toon.
I am just saying that their are exceptions.
