I'd like the ability to add a small comment to the information that others see when looking at the "Join Requests" screen or when they are looking at the "Who" tab.

It could possibly be comments based on a pull-down window of pre-defined "comments".

The objective is to be able to specify that my rogue has no rogue skills, or that my other rogue does. That my Fighter is Board and Shield or that my Ranger is Arcane or that my Cleric is battle spec-d or not, etc.

A free-form comment field is easiest to implement (with some danger of extra monitoring / abuse possibility akin to current "Create a Group" screen's comment field provides.)

A pull-down menu of such comments could take the form of nifty job-titles or whatever you're designers can dream up to describe the possible list of character classifications. Most of these functions are already named on the Forums at least, but more creative names in the form of profession names or some such would add additional flare to the game.

A further refinement of this implementation would be to add these classifications to the Settings Tab and save them on a per character basis and auto-import to the stated screen views above. That makes sense for a pull-down version, but maybe not quite as much for the free-form format.

I formally sponsor and sign this request.

Thank you for your due consideration.

This already does exist. On the Who tab of the Social Panel, at the bottom, there is a field where you can type in a comment, and a button labeled Update Comment (or something similar) that will apply that comment to your character's entry in the list. Unfortunately, you have to reapply any comment you want each time you log in, though. It would be nice if they changed this to keep the comment applied until you manually changed or removed it, even if you log out and back in.

The comment field is 80 characters long and an easy way to update it everytime you log in is to type your message into your own bio section so you can copy paste it each time you log.

Well how silly does that make me look? Hehe. Didn't know that. I've run plenty of groups though and have never noticed it come up on the Joining Requests. Does it? If so, are people using it??

I know the comment shows up in the Who tab. I don't know if it shows up in a join request. My guess would be no.

Not very many people are using this feature, judging by the very few comments I see every time I scan down the Who tab.

Unfortunately, it does not show in the "join requests" window.

Why not simply use Specialty icons to overlay the Class icon when applying for a group or otherwise Examined? This would be an at-a-glance way to see what a class specialty is.

That my Fighter is Board and Shield

Wow, your fighter carries TWO shields? That's an interesting build, I guess the main hand is "of bashing".

(I know you can't do this in DDO, I'm just messing with ya'!) ;)

No, he uses a 2x4 in his main hand...
