turbine,

i believe you have in place an sop on how to handle cases when a help, report is recieved. i'd use the report of abuse of lfm since this was where i found a flaw in the sop. current practice i believe is for the GM to only act when a harassment report is lodge. the GM may or may not even confirm the situation to begin his/her set of standardised actions which include 1. ask offender to remove the lfm, 2. act against offender if non compliance.

just yesterday, i had a lfm up as 1. proof to show that i soloed without help and 2. to see how many people actually read the lfm. someone took offence and sent in a report. soon a GM contacted me and i removed my lfm promptly. the problem is not the way the GM handled the affair. he was polite and cordial. the problem is that there is a trade lfm which has been on the social panel for at least 6 hours. the GM did not even know about the trade lfm until i pointed it out to him

this highlights the deficiencies in the sop.
1. GMs do not "work" until a report is sent in (no one reported the trade lfm and hence no report is recieved)
2. GMs do not actually check the social panel when a report is recieved (else he would have known about the trade lfm)

clearly the sop is lacking, beef it up

5 will get you 10 Shugar that someone with an axe to grind reported your LFM.

I'm afraid being a high-profile poster and member of the DDO community subjects you the whims of some real jerks.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but unfortunately, they do go with the territory.

Pretty sure that the GM's have to much to do to go looking for work.
I agree they should check the panel before talking to you though.

The gms in that case may only get a confirmation to a query about your LFM, rather than an ingame view of the LFM panel. WHat I mean is the GM gets a report, asks the server to send him any LFMs by "aranticus" (or w/e the reported character was) and gets a result back. One good indication of this would be if the GM asked for the name of the guy with the trade LFM when you mentioned it to him. If he had an ingame view, he wouldnt need to ask.

I suspect this mostly because the GMs seem to take care of all of turbines games rather than being assigned to one (shown by confused GMs giving LOTRO advice to ddo players).

Aranticus, weren't you vehemently against trade LFMs? I really don't see how you thought this was any different.

If you want to prove you're soloing, put your LFG up like Qwijy. You can't be in a group while it's active.

i'm against trade lfms, but i prefer to send a tell inform the person to take it down. most do after hearing the consequences some do not. i'll take your advice on the lfg, but prolly i'll get tons of invites too lol

Isnt there a checkbox in the UI panel that lets you ignore all party invites?
