Hey I'm pretty new to the game, looking for a fun solo build I'm thinking dwarven battlecleric, but more battle then cleric. Any advice would be helpful, and I only have acess to a 28 point build.

Dwarven battlecleric is certainly a fun build. A battlecleric can do quite well with only cleric levels, but it might not be a bad idea to start with a paladin or fighter level (paladin for better saves, if you're willing to invest in some charisma and at least 2 levels, or fighter for tower shield proficiency and fighter strength enhancement - again, need 2 levels for the enhancement) so as to have access to all martial weapons (and dwarven axes, which count as martial weapons for dwarves).
Just be sure to put enough points into wisdom to be able to cast spells (need 10+spell level, so 11 for first level spells, 19 for ninth level, and items and enhancements do count). As for the rest, plenty of strength and con, and since you'll be short on skill points you may want to pick one skill to put all your points into - concentration if you're not going to take Quicken spell (taking Quicken spell is highly recommended, but not efficient at early levels), or balance if you will be taking Quicken (can't respec skill points, so it's better to live without concentration till you get Quicken than have the points wasted afterward).
On the other hand, if you're only interested in fighting and using wands between fights (not casting spells during combat), a paladin/fighter with a couple rogue levels might be ideal - 2 rogue levels would give you evasion (albeit only in light armor) and Use Magic Device as a class skill, so you'd be able to use cleric scrolls once you got the skill high enough. This type of build is very stretched for stat points however, and very gear-dependent, so might be better for a second character, once the first gets to the level cap :)

What will work best will also depend on HOW you like to play.
If you like a Rainbow 6 - stealthy type. Consider a Ranger. Lots of perks, skills and abilities, but fewer feats than a fighter and some armor limitations. Toss in a Rogue level to let you open locks and disarm traps (with the right skills and gear) and you can do almost all of the low level stuff.
If you want to be a Conan and smash the mobs, a fighter or barbarian can do the job at low levels.
If you want to be able to self heal and not rely on just potions, then going a cleric works pretty well.
Now understand, what works well at low level and can handle every quest at those levels is not necessarily what will work well at higher levels. At high levels, a caster (Wizard, Sorc, Cleric) can solo quests that a more pure melee can only dream about.
That is why going as a Cleric might be a good choice. It has longevity and can more easily handle the lower level quests while you are learning. It is also real easy to get into groups with a cleric. Everyone wants to have a healer along...

Do something like that (Dwarf Fighter 1/Cleric X):
str 16
dex 12
con 16
int 8
wis 15
cha 6
Level up bonus points can go either to Str or Wis, as you prefer.
Feats: extend, quicken, power attack, improved crit, then your choice (khopesh? maximize? toughness? ...)
