A friend of mine got me into D&D not long ago, but I haven't heard from him for quite some time. How can I find other willing players in my area?
I live in Texas, near Houston. So far, I have not moved to 4.0 and own all three core books.
Any info is appreciated.

Easiest way, is to find the local gaming store. Most will have an area set aside specifically for gaming, and it's possible that groups already play onsite there, otherwise, you'll have to ask around, but it is probably a good start.

As well on the wizardsofthecoast web site there is a gamer people finder, I cant remember where exactly it is I will try to get the address to you but I think in the end it links you to meetup.com anyways, there are many gamers looking to find groups there.

Typically local game stores have community bulletin boards where players and GMS can post, "GROUP WANTED" or "CAMPAIGN OPENING" notices. If there's a group recruiting ask around the store to see if anyone knows anything about them: sometimes groups get bad reps in the local community and you should know about this. If you're starting a group give a brief intro on the notice, what levels you're going run, what ruleset you're going to use, and if it's an "open" game or they're expected to start new characters.
You can also post notices online. Craig's List has a section for this IIRC.
