View Full Version : Anyone made a build for khopesh use?

I was just wondering if anyone has made a character for using khopesh's exclusively?

I really like the looks of this weapon in-game but using one isn't practical with my finesse built TWF rogue main, and my secondary character is a THF dwarven fighter so I'm not going that route with him either.

But I do like them.

And I have an experimental character coming up that I might have use them if it's a good idea. He's a drow ranger at 2nd level only, so if I'd need to redo things it isn't too late yet.

Anyway, just curious if players have done this and what might be wise to do with a drow ranger build for use with this weapon.

Thanks in advanced.

both of my rogues use them in their offhand with a radiance 2 scimmy in the main hand.

some pointers:

it isn't finessable so it needs to be a str build
human is good for the extra feat to fit things in
if you want to dual wield them, OTWF is of value if you have a fringe to hit bonus (my rogues qualify for this if they lose sneaks)

Khopesh usage is very common and popular, but it only requires 1 or 2 feats from the build, so it's just a small proportion of all the options. For a while it seemed like Khopesh was the default weapon of the majority of sword + shield guys, and it's a good choice for strength TWF characters too.

No, it isn't. The advantages of a drow are (1) higher intelligence and charisma, (2) rapier and shortsword bonuses. That character would use neither of them, so you'd do better to make it an elf, which would be mostly identical but have higher strength or constitution.

Assuming you have 32-point characters opened. Otherwise, the elf isn't really better than the drow.

I use khopesh on my elven paladin and my elven fighter/rogue/ranger because of the high crit multiplier and good crit range. I do have Oversized TWF on my fighter, however but it isn't as if I burned two feats to only use paired khopesh as I have nice transmuters and disruptors that are not light offhand weapons and subsequently don't take the oversized penalty. If I was stretched for feats, however, I would probably go with scimitars or if I ran a drow would stick with rapier and follow the finessable line and go dex/IC:pierce build and not focus on strength at all.

My Drow Fighter/Rogue (8/7 right now) was Built for Kopesh use. +3 Vorpal in Main, +1 Vorpal of Righteousness in my off. I never play him as the Main Tank...but anyone who's run with him nows he's nasty.

I tend to stay "Hidden" and use the Vorpals for "Assasinating" the Mobs. The Only thing cooler than rolling a '20' ... is rolling a '20' while hidden, staying hidden and doing it again. My best is (3) 20's in a row, 3 blue mobs, 3 bodies in my wake!

There's mine, and she.....packs a whallop, smacked a gnoll the other night with my mineral II Khopesh (with treason offhand :) ) for 122+7+3+10+7+13 (Sneak attack, and weapon enhancements really add up), she can get up to 34 Strength pretty consistently, with a rage pot, and madstone boots. Only thing I have to say is, very gear dependent, if I didn't have all the stuff on her I do she wouldn't be as viable (mostly from lack of HP, and a low to hit bonus), but the UMD is a wonderful trick for stepping back and supporting clerics, buffing yourself with greater heroism scrolls, and using pretty well any piece of gear you want while saying screw the race required rules :).

Also I realize she has a low will save, but again with gear, stat boosts, and greater heroism she's up to; Fort-23, Reflex-31, Will-19

a 32 point human build would be much better, if you hold off a little bit, your level 11 should be able to get it soon

I find when it comes to Kopesh use the following rules apply:

The Higher the Str the better.
One handed kicks tail, but two gets an extra swing or two.
Pally's Smite Evil and the enhancement line that increase crit range/damage (not sure which) is massively scary with a Kopesh user.

My thoughts that I've not tested yet.
Pally Fighter build with Smite Evil and Weapon Specialization Slashing would be quite nasty.

Another build to get good results is a 2WF 14/2 Barbarian/Fighter. With improved crit and barb crit you can get your khopesh to a 15-20 crit range with a ~40 strength. Its a lot of damage.

Yeah, after reading here and talking to people I quest with I'm starting to think this is the best idea.

Now that I'm getting to higher levels on my main, I'm seeing these more all the time on loot pulls. I like them but just wanted to know about what other players have done with their use since it's an exotic weapon. I like the barbarian idea...maybe a human STR based barb/rog with TWF? Not sure yet.

But thanks everyone.

And any other ideas/builds please post them here for me to study.
