If you wanted to say talk to a GM about something you felt could improve the game, how often would you expect to get a response in the forums? Or if you wanted to ask about a possible bugged quest without submitting it as a report if its already been done?
I'm not one much for posting on forums unless I find something extremely interesting.
I see alot of topics on say traps for example and people upset about the extreme damage they inflict and the extreme reflex saves required to pass through them without a near instant death.
I see topics about splash rogues being just as useful because they have enough skill for disabling the traps ect or saves to reflex their way through the traps.
So here is a question I would like to ask (tried search bad results). Why instead of beefing up the damage and saves to pretty near impossible levels not merely have added status effects that can't be cured even by death for a set duration?
If traps are merely meant to slow us down make effects on traps that you have to disable or suffer a time out from. I'm sure you could easily add traps that inflict a penalty so any melee attack is at a -50 damage the exception could easily be sneak attacks not affected along with minor effects like fire, ice, ect type damage. Monsters inflict feeblemind crippling casters, why not change traps to inflict similiar conditions but uncurable for a duration, this will also slow things down. A splash rogue as I've seen it called might still be able to disable those traps but they are gonna have a timeout unlike the full rogue if they fail a reflex save.

Sounds reasonable, except for the incurable part. I don't feel that any effect (other than possibly Curse) should persist past the character's death.
Someone sets off a trap, fails their save and is afflicted with the Hamstring effect for a few minutes. Or is temporarily blinded. Or even hit with a Greater Command effect. (stunned) Fair enough. Has the intended effect of penalizing the party for not having the rogue on point and disarming things. (or not even bothering to have a rogue)
Splash rogues are perfectly viable if built right, though. The tradeoff for a splash rogue is you have far fewer skill points to put into other things because you're spending at a 2:1 cost to keep those rogue skills up to par.

SOmetimes that helps get a response....

Trap Saves were reduced back to a reasonable level with Mod 7. But damage is still High. Its good incentive to have a rogue in the party. I have no sympathy for threads that complain about SPlash builds being as effective as pure rogues when it comes totraps.. Its been said a million times and Iguess I have to say it again. Trapping is just ONE dimention of a good rogue. ANyone who build a rogue solely around trapping built a bad rogue and your not getting into groups for that very reason.

Shouldn't your be they're, your sounds like your calling me a rogue, don't play one. As far as build for traps I couldn't imagine doing that ever would seem like a waste of a character.

1Rogue/15 Ranger can easily be built to Hit EVery Trap in the Game
2 ROgue/14 Wizard can be also...
Both those builds offer FAR more than pure Pure designed to only get all the traps inthe game.
Is the rogue hurt because of the MC builds that can do "Their" Traps? Not if hes build right....
High UMD, High Damage, Sneak attack, Skill versatility, and the Player behind the rogue can make them stand apart fromt eh Splash builds.
AS far as My Wording, I find most of the complaints and suggestions like this come from Pure Rogues, if thats not the source of this one, I aplogize. If you dont play a ROgue, Why is this a Concern?

After reading the OP's two posts several times, they look like they are written by entirely different people. The first is long and well written, while the second is the exact opposite. Not commenting on the content or the OP, but these two posts are like night and day. Odd.

First of all mine is neither a complaint nor a suggestion. Mine was a question as why they didn't add such methods. I suppose it could be considered a suggestion but then I'd have posted it in the suggestions section. And its definately not a complaint but a topic I find common and interesting. Also why did you put their into " "?

I tend to fluctuate in my views opinions and ability to express my voice in any text written fashion on a minute to minute basis.

Because I run into many pure/mostly rogues that seem to get offended when my 14Cleric/2 Rogue disarms a trap when they are in the group with me...... They seem to get even more upset whenthey learn my Search and Disable Device check is Higher than theirs.

Heh, I enjoy when there's someone with a rogue splash in the group; I typically won't get bugged quite as often to disable everything as the splash character likes to do it for some reason or another. I've never really considered finding/disabling traps to be the fun part of being a rogue. :D
