At what crit range is crit better than force hit?

i.e. at crit on 20 use force hit, but at crit on 17-20 use force crit.

At 13-20, force crit is better.

8*2,5 = 20
19*1 = 19

However, Fortification messes this up (ie pit fiend).

Thanks Borrow. That is kinda what I was guessing. Seemed like 1d4 was kinda light for a crit effect. Unless it goes through the weapon multiplier.

Fortification shouldn't stop the force crit effect.

Like undead are still susceptible to flaming burst.

Undead don't have any fortification. They are immune to crits. It's different.

Do you ever see a non-crit but with the burst effect on the pit fiend with your dual Mineral II on Termite?

pit fiend has resistance to acid which is why most of the acid burst/blast damage does not go through. crit effects will still apply irregardless if the crit is confirmed. confirmation or fortification only affects the physical damage portion

Sure? Otherwise I should be seeing some XX+2d6+1d4+0+0 more often.

Not a good example. They are immune to criticals, rather than have fortification.

its kinda ddo's fault. while mechanics seems fine, they do deviate from the dnd norm

Actually,that's following the D&D rules.

Immunity to crits (even partial) never stops a weapons special attacks going off.

Things like golems still get smited, even though they're immune to crits.
Flaming burst will always go off even if the base damage doesn't get multiplied.

Immunity to crits is the same thing as 100% fortification.
