I have a few Tempest rangers and I was looking at switching one to IC:Bludge just for flavor and to be a little different. I picked up two +1 maldroit light maces of bone-breaking and guess what? I LOVE IT!!
I honestly never realized how low the dexterity score is on 99% of the mobs in DDO.
I know that it doesn't really help my kill count number but it helps the party if all the melees are auto criting a few second into a fight.
Anyway just wanted to tell you about a weapon combo you might want to try.

Yeah, my Rogue duals with a +1 Maladroit of Bone Breaking Hammer and +1 Maladroit of Bone Breaking light mace. It's fun to kill a mobs AC.
Add crippling strike to that and he's a Stat damage machine. Too bad the crit range is so low.

Less then 12 on 80% of mobs. Though maladroit of maiming is a good setup as well because the maiming will take out the mob post haste once the dex is 0, and really blunt weapons don't crit all that often.

Well the "of Bone Breaking" is just a nice bonus because in reality a hasted Tempest kills stuff fast enough as it is. :)

Don't forget about those attack boosts. My tempest rogue attacks crazy fast with attack boost 3.

Yes if you are a tempest build. I'm a sniper so I need that little boost.

Shhh.... Don't tell people these weapons are good...
Keep them cheap.
Seriously though, yes they are nice weapons, especially for those tough to hit mobs with high ac. Few whacks with one of these babies and it is autocrit city!

Those are nice on rogue because you'll also get automatic sneak attack when their dex drops. I used to carry them on my rogue...before I deleted him. *wah* =(

Welcome to the club......
There IS stat damage Other than CON!
You think Maladroit is Neat? Try some Weakenign of Enfeebleing high crit weapons with Crippling strike.. :)
My new rogue carries W/E Scimmy/Kukri COmbo, M/BB Heavy Mace & Maladriot of Greater Evil Outsider Bane Light Mace (TY to whoever put that on the AH for 15k.. Its Phenominal!), and uses them as the mobs require... I can usualy STR damage a mmob to 0 in a single attack chain.. SOem High STR/Low Dex Mobs need to be Maladrioted though (Devils and Orthons can go either way for similar results)

OMG!!!
I actually pulled a pair of Maladroit of Bone Breaking Handwraps for the end reward of the Crucible and I am TOTALLY IN LOVE With them!
At Level 8 I have a pair of just Maladroit handwraps and was totally wreaking havoc in Threnal with them (despite the fact that 0 dex monsters are not quite working properly) but when I pulled the Maladroit of Bone Breaking LOOK OUT!
Last night did the Gianthold Tor with them and 3-4 hits was all it took to make any of the giants pussycats...it was totally NUTS! By the time we faced the Skeletons at the end, nobody had shrined and the casters still had a sliver of Mana left. And it was just me and a Pali for Front Line Duty...
I swear I have NEVER had anything as sweet as those handwraps.
Lets hope the devs get around to fixing 0 dex behavior in the next update.

Unfortunatly, the Devs have deemed that 0 STAT behavior isnt bugged for mobs. Its by design. Something about making the mobs hgelpless being overpowering..
Boggles my mind that we can Puncture everything to death, but STR and Dex damage is the "Overpowering" one.....

thats because the W/P route is so expensive they are fine with it, but as long as the other stats are cheap to damage (ie get good weapon combos for little plat), they might be an issue.:D
That being said I while I do have a W/E combo (dual daggers) on my Ranger/Rogue, might have to look into the Dex Combos on things like Light Maces, etc.

Yea, that's not right in my opinion. No wonder everyone wants WoP when it's the only thing that kills mobs dead.
Just a total shame. I think if you put Con drains to Zero and have the bad guy stay upright and still attacking you would see alot of people scream.
And if someone wants to take the time to put one of these bad guys to zero dex, they should be rewarded the same as the WoP crowd. Not with death, but with the proper behaviors that accompany that. I mean lower AC, to hit for finesse monsters and auto-crits are nice to have! But if the monster is still kicking your butt then the stat drainers will ALWAYS PALE next to the WoP.
And that is unfair and not very logically thought out.

Yeah, I'm sure the devs are doing game design around the availability of certain weapon types.

Well 0 con for anyone = dead, while 0 of any other stat makes players helpless and mobs autocrit. Likely because the mobs have borked stats and base levels of difficulty that the mob cant be taken below...say static skills and such.

I believe those stat adjustments do take place. The difference between what happens to monsters and what happens to players is that players are rendered helpless - they can't attack, use clickies etc. Monsters still get -5 to AC for a dex of 0, or -5 to hit and damage for 0 str, they just don't get renered helpless.

That makes no sense.... WHy would their STR and Dex have a Limit but Not Con?
No... Skills, Saves, AC, and To Hit are all lowered with the stat damage. and if their stat damage "Stopped" at 1, they wouldntbe autocrit.. and they wouldnt die from being punctured to death either.

Because in DDO, killing is less powerful than disabling. There are many situations where death triggers an event, and being able to control when/if this event is triggered would lead to easily exploiting this mechanism.

not buying it.... THe biggest places where Killing a mob toTrigger an even are killing red named to start the purple... and they are immune to stat damage anyway.
That, Plus its pretty easy to manipulate anyway.... Charm them... Sheild Block em.. Hold their Aggro im some other way... Making them Helpless would just be another tactic.

I was under the idea that in pnp lowering any stat except for con to 0 simply rendered you helpless rather then dead. I never said mobs couldn't be taken to 0 in stats other then con but I can see where it might have been implied in my poorly worded post.
SRD:
<H2 id=abilityDamaged>Ability Damaged
The character has temporarily lost 1 or more ability score points. Lost points return at a rate of 1 per day unless noted otherwise by the condition dealing the damage. A character with Strength 0 falls to the ground and is helpless (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#helpless). A character with Dexterity 0 is paralyzed (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#paralyzed). A character with Constitution 0 is dead (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#dead). A character with Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma 0 is unconscious (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#unconscious). Ability damage (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#abilityDamage) is different from penalties to ability scores, which go away when the conditions causing them go away.
Mobs should be either helpless, paralyzed, or unconscious just like players are when they are drained to 0 in non-con stats. I suspect that part of the issue is like how hold and other such spells apply the autocrit but mobs are still able to move...likely because mobs only have a stat block while players have inventories that actually weigh something.
