We have health bars to see party members taking damage and if someone gets cursed or poisoned they get a party hat but somethings don't show up like level drain stat damage etc. What if these symbols showed up next to the players status bar? I feel it would make running a cleric a little easier as I don't have to figure out who just said they need a restore (not giving their name) plus if say some members have a hard time communicating with others it would be a big help. Well what do you think and has this been suggested before and shot down?

P.S. Moved from cleric forum.

It has been asked for before, and no it wasnt shot down.

Not sure why we dont have it, but if the Devs get the time and they believe its worth it Im sure it will be put in, eventually.

I like the idea btw.

Or the easy way of doing this: Put smaller versions of the buff icons next to the health bar with an option to get rid of it.

By the D&D rules, clerics cast a spell called "Status" to get that info.

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/status.htm

When you need to keep track of comrades who may get separated, status allows you to mentally monitor their relative positions and general condition. You are aware of direction and distance to the creatures and any conditions affecting them: unharmed, wounded, disabled, staggered, unconscious, dying, nauseated, panicked, stunned, poisoned, diseased, confused, or the like. Once the spell has been cast upon the subjects, the distance between them and the caster does not affect the spell

Then give us the status spell (with a decent duration) and we can cast it and have the display add in various status Icons. Maybe the Red bar turns green if the character is poisoned (ie taking poison damage), perhaps it has red/black diagonal bars for level drains, little down arrows for stat drains. More arrows, more drain.

Plenty of options...

Have you Missed the fact that we have al these Swirlies, Party Hats, and Graphical Indications of various alements already? It seems Everyone already has this "Status" Spell cast on em to everyone..... All we want is an indicator in the Party list of who "I" is when we hear "I'm Cursed!" Or who "ME" is when some some said "Throw me a Remove Poison"

actually, you can go more basic: We can see red bars.

I think A_D, you cannot apply PnP for this. Cuz we see red bars, among other status things. I am for what the OP has suggested.

so....

oh plz don't, we all know how long our buff list goes when we're fully buffed
just debuff icon would suffice

I do admit the icons would have to be small and probably have to allow straight 12 stack of names for raids (not 6 side by side) but I don't think one debuff icon would cover it unless it could be broken up into a pie in which different sections meant different ability damages and light up accordingly or with numbers for level drains. How many times do you find "I" who needs a restore so you cast it and he stands there few seconds go by /ding "again" cast wait /ding "again" or he runs away.

I like this idea though I never understood why if we can see the symbol when we have stat damage that it couldnt go over the players head like curse, crushing despair etc... The little red circular symbol that I see when I get stat damage could be made to show up over the players head that way the cleric knows who needs a restore. Maybe even give it a different tone for levels yellow= lesser restore needed, pink= more then one lesser or a general restore needed, red= severe stat damage greater restore needed.

I dunno but anything that helps the clerics out with this specially in raid situations would be welcomed. Its really hard trying to track down a voice who just says "need a restore" when youve got 11 others in a group.

I'm all for this. I don't see any negative impact. It would really help a lot when affected by debuffs.

I like the idea of the icons next tot he HP indicator bar. You wouldn't need to display all of the buffs from other players, just the dubuffs and negative affects applied by mobs, traps, etc...

This is why I wish mods were allowed.

Players would have come up with a way to do this and other minor "ease" of game play things fairly early on.
