View Full Version : How do I get a GM fired?

Two GMs tonight told me that, despite having run all of the vale quests, "their end" wasn't showing rainbow as completed, so I can't go on the shroud raid. Despite my offer to email them a screenshot of my adventure compendium showing completion on all of the quests, they closed my ticket without resolving the problem, and threatened disciplinary action if I submitted another ticket trying to find a helpful GM.

This is unacceptable, and must be fixed; despite the dramatic title, I am not asking for these two to be fired, but there must be some way of holding these people accountable for doing their jobs. I understand that they don't get feedback when they do their job properly (OK, I've actually seen it happen, once), but all the more reason to listen when they do get something.

Or is there some trick to getting a GM to help? Like a magic word, or something? I know it isn't "please" or "come on, you've got to be kidding me".

did you get your reward? It won't consider you completed, for shroud readiness, til you have.

Did you get your end reward for rainbow... that is what is probably keeping you locked out. You still have to get it for the game to realize you have finished it. It doesn't matter if you have your signet stone already.

Is your signet stone in a bag? it has to be in your inventory

check your quest log (not the favour page, the quest page... think its the hourglass icon) and see if it shows rainbow as "(Completed) Rainbow in the Dark"

If not, then you either still need to collect the end reward, or you were not on the quest when you did it somehow. Hard not to get a walkup quest, but it did happen to me once for devils when I rezzed at the entrance and loaded in.

If it does show as completed... then you may just have to do it again and see if that fixes it.

OK, that worked, but why did the GM say that rainbow wasn't completed? Or tell me that there was a bug about that?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very mollified jsut from being able to run the quest, but still.

Anyway, thanks very much, Drider; maybe they should hire you :)

hehe.

Most of the time they just don't know the game as well as the players.

Oh, and you forgot a possibility: namely, that I might have finished it, walked up to get it again, and not done it; not the case, but it could have been :)

It looks like you had not gotten your end reward for completing Rainbow in the Dark. I see the reward looted approximately 5 minutes ago which would then mark the quest complete and allow you access to the Shroud.

Unfortunately GMs can not see that you did not get the end reward as we see the status of the quest, which is not complete until you get your end reward.

Sorry you had problems but this does not look to have been caused by the stone being in your collectable bag.

If this was the case, it would have appeared in our logs as completed 1 time. As you had not yet taken your end reward from your first run, it appeared as completed 0 times.

We are happy to hear that you were able to figure out what you did wrong and advance the quest. Happy raiding!

Nicely done, Sparker and Oskee. It's unfortunate that the tools provided to the GM's were unable to alert them to the issue. Perhaps an update of those tools is in order? :)

Thanks Club'in!

It seems that the issue was caused because the player didn't select his Rainbow end reward until after he submitted his help tickets. This means, when he spoke to the GM's, his quest wasn't completed yet. That is why it appeared as "uncompleted" in our logs.

Our tools are pretty good in this regard, but they are sometimes limited by the information we are given by the player.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread and for helping to resolve this issue! To say thank you, we have hidden a +4 Tome in a random chest in Stormreach. Happy hunting!

Ya, I understand the situation. I'm saying that something in the software has triggered his account to be eligible for that quest reward. The GM's software currently is not able to alert them to this "state". Why not? Otherwise, the GM could have immediately told the player "uh, you haven't grabbed your quest reward". Ticket closed within a minute. Happy (but slightly embarassed) customer.

That's it, I am searching every chest, starting in Goodblades.

You know, we could argue about this, but considering that it is completely irrelevant to the point of the post, I'll pass and just say that I wish that the next D&D game will be operated by people who know what they're doing.

Here's hoping that I never have to contact in-game support again, and have an awful day.

More posts like yours (and similar in-game behavior) will likely result in your never contacting in-game support again (or anyone else in game for that matter).

By the sounds of things you're upset because the GM's didnt help. You said in your OP the GM's told you the quest was not completed. Your quest was not completed. What more do you want?

Looks like everyone has managed to resolve this, so there's no need to start poking each other with pointy sticks.
