Hi I'm pretty new to the game and I'm 12 levels into my Ranger tempest build. I have 8 lvs of Rgr, 3 lvs of Ftr, and 1 lv of barb. Looking back I probably shouldn't have done the splash of Barbarian, but ohwell. Anyway my question now is, do I go a 9th level of Rgr for evasion, and evasion only, or do I go pure Ftr here to lv 7 to get more fighter buffs, like Armor mastery II, critical accuracy II, toughness III etc. Please help! I'm not even sure if evasion works with medium armor. I'm using +4 Mithral Plate. Thanks

As long as you have a half decent reflex save, take the ranger level and get evasion. You'll also be getting an extra minute on your buffs and access to favored damage III.

Evasion rocks, hardcore...only in light armour tho. Mithril breastplate will be your friend.

Crit accuracy, armour mastery, toughness...all of those do not even come close to evasion IMO.

As the others have said, Evasion is teh ****!

If you have the reflex to use it reliably, trade the mith FP for a bp and maybe use some of those fighter armor mastery enhancements to make up the difference.

Extra buff time is a plus as well.

I love my evasion builds. Now to work Imp evasion into the new generations of them :)

If you go that far might as well go to 12 (think its 12) for precise shot and improved precise shot; if you ever use a bow +30 resists and better bark. After that go ftr or brbn the rest. Also level 10 is your 3rd dex point. Also class break points are USUALY at 2,6,10,12.

Yup, its 12.

And improved precise shot is also teh ****! Seeing so many red numbers on yer screen in quests like Feast or Famine...mmm, nice.

+5 Barkskin =12lvl

Precise Shot/ Improve Precise Shot/ 30pt Resists/ (also Greater 2 Weapon FIghting) = 11lvl

yep. if you go past 6 ranger (tempest), you can't really pass up 11 ranger. 12 is questionable, but 10 (favored enemy) and 11 rock.

IMO evasion is well worth, I might take skill mastery over improved evasion however.

Evasion lets you give the Pit fiend the finger as you draw his ranged attacks your way....(at least 19 times out of 20:D)

As others said, if going past Ranger 6 you should seriously consider going to 11 or 12. Lots of coolness. Beyond twelve, not as important.

You take 1 more fighter level to get Weapon Spec at fighter 4, and then ranger for the rest.

The real question is if YOU are worth having evasion.

If you are a STR Ranger, I´d go Tempest Ranger 7 Barbarian 7 Fighter 2. (Barbarian Enhancement Sweet Spots are at L7) Go 9 Ranger when level Cap increases... IMO.

I have a Dwarven Ranger 8 Barbarian 6 and Fighter 2 that without Tempest (I don´t agree with the feat Intensive Price tag, and have better uses for them) and he absolutely rocks with GTWF, Imp. Crit Piercing & Slashing, Khopesh, Cleave + Great Cleave, Etc..

Imagine a many shot with the Silver Bow Raged and Madstoned (STR 40).... No Ranged ranger can do that...and I do it for fun!

Anyway, hope some of this helps.

Wow thanks for the excellent options and ideas. One thing is clear, Evasion absolutely rocks so I should at least go to lv 11 or 12 in rgr since I went this far! I love this forum, I submit a post, turn my head, and get a million responses!
