I really enjoy the Garamol rare encounter and a couple of other rare encounters in the Raidzone. The Garamol encounter for those people not familiar with it is a fight with a giant skeleton on a pile of gold with moments of anti-gravity. Very nice work on these encounters by the way Turbine. The problem is Garamol is not something you can easily solo, it is not on the way to a raid or quest, and the incentive for people to go out of their way to this encounter and other Raidzone encounters is low. If Turbine provided an incentive for these encounters such as named loot like they did in quests such as Ghost of Perdition you might see alot more activity.

And some suggestions I thought of in regards to your post over there.

They should have made this room a quest like the giant caves out in threnal.

Just the one room.

Add a few more giant skelletons.

Increase the spawn rate of the specters.

Add RANDOM trap boxes located on small ledges only accessable with the trampoline effect in play around the shaft for a rogue to disarm to shut down the traps.

One chest at the end, 2 if you get all the trap boxes.

A cool piece of named loot since everyone likes named loot.

You are correct that a lot of the effort put into the Subterane area was mostly wasted because there is no real gameplay reason to go there for any purpose except to take the shortest path to the raids. It's too dangerous to effectively explore by yourself, but when you have a group you're probably going to want to go someplace more profitable.

The bulk of the Subterane area is only going to visited as tourism, which is not durable for any replayability. I don't know if named loot would be an overall good way to fix it, but it would improve the specific problem somewhat.

I have solo ransacked this chest weekly, one of the few that can be solo'd. Once you know where to find him (there are at least 2 portals that get to him) its not much problem.
