I've just hit 9 on the Khyber server with my rogue and would love to start exploring the desert with a group but darn it the fear casters there just erk me so so bad. is there something I can obtain to become immune to fear other then take paladin levels?

Greater Heroism makes you immune.

Either UMD scrolls or get yerself a Planar Gird (drops in Xorian Cypher).

reavers ring has immunity to fear this drops in Xoriat as well, the lion headed belt buckle drops in desert raid. Also simply drinking a remove fear potion before you get to the undead area will help out

I know how you feel - my ranger won't go in the desert without her wizard partner to cast greater heroism....oh, and firewall, and reconstruct :D

Someday, I'll get around to rerunning Xorian for another shot at a Gird, but it's just so....unsoloable ;)

the mummies (which is what is freezing you in such a funny pose) are only to your direct right as you enter in the sand. the rest of the map is available to you chock full of gnolls, hyenas and drow oh my!

From the Release Notes:

The Greater Heroism Fear Immunity effect has been changed to match other beneficial effects of the spell.

Not sure exactly what that means, but I know it means my GH'd fighter gets Mummy Despair'd now. I was shocked the first time it happened.

There were cases where the Fear Immunity part of Greater Heroism was lasting longer than the buff timer. The fix, if I recall correctly, was to bring the Fear Immunity part back in line with the buff timer.

Correct. If you died with GH on, the Fear immunity would stay on your character. Even though the icon went away.

It works just fine now. GH, Reaver RIng, Helm of Freewill, Belt Buckle, or Shroud item can all grant Fear Immunity though. Remove fear pots are a joke. TYHe mummies out there spam you with despair saves so rapidly that your boudn to roll a 1 eventually. and on a rogue with a low will save, you wont make it past 2 mummies before your despaired.
