View Full Version : Additional Adamantine Rituals - worth it?

Other than dragonscale robes and armors, I'm trying to figure out what kinds of items could possibly be worth putting additional Adamantine Rituals (II-V) on. I mean, it seems like a hefty grind for ore, khyber fragments and soul gems for such a Meh... benefit.
I mean you have to bind the item to add rituals, meaning no perm. damage anyway. Can someone help me out as to why you'd want to take this all the way to V?
Yes, yes, I understand it's just an optional, but one that benefits hardly anyone or any item. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Bloodrage symbiont from VON 4. has like a 1 durability and and a 5 hardness or some mess, it will break every time you use it without the ritual. Also, binding and attuning it ensures that it will never "Die" on you.
Bloodrage symbiont - trinket
DR 5/-
poison immunity
disease immunity
-2 con
-2 will save
Rage 3/day
Basically you wear it while raged and suffer no real ill effects but gain dr/5 and the immunities.

i have a con 6 belt that has its durabilty and hardness in like the sinlge digits cuz i got it just after mod 6 went live so that mite b a reason for some ppl to go all the way out to V, all i did was bound and attuned it so it doesnt take any more perm dmg

Doing the Eldritch Resistance Ritual on it will add a competence bonus of +1 to saves to help off set the loss of fort -1 (due to con loss) and -2 will. I'm about to do the adamantine today (been buying trap the soul scrolls and now have 10 essence of earth gems) and starting to farm the 4 lightning split soarwood and the 22 funeary tokens i need to add the resist as well.
This is a fun way to mod a really unique type of item. :)

if your doing the resistance ritual dont bother doing the adamantine ritual before as any of the new rituals just wipe off the adamantine ritual when performed. 1 ritual per item in other words.

Really!? That's kind of dumb isn't it? What was reasoning for that?

I think Kargon gave a pretty good reason for it. Makes a lot of sense.

no one said he didn't, but just as likely as his explanation is that it would require extra coding to items to be able to add multiple effects to them therefore they just cover up the previous effects. 2 unrelated rituals such as adamantine and lets say resistance should stack. The cost are quite different for each as well as the effect. also adamantine rituals came out long before this lastest crafting bonanza( 5 recipes 3 work) once you have toughened something i fail to see how doing something completely different to it would once again return the item to its weakened state? regardless thats the devs decission so were stuck with it, however those alchemical rituals will be sweet once they are converted to a dodge bonus(since dodge ac caps at 10) sometime around mod 15 "The Way of The Chaluppa"

Dodge AC caps at 10?
Icy raiment, 4
chaosguard 2
shield ritual 1
armor ritual 1
chattering ring 3
dodge feat 1
that's 12 right there, so i guess we'll soon find out if that is true.

A_D addressed this last week in the Icy Raiment thread, I believe. The dodge AC capping at 10 is a supposed myth when one references DnD materials. Maybe he'll stop by and address this again, but I'm pretty sure it won't be capped.

Do shield alchemical and armor alchemical stack? Same names usually don't stack unless it specifically say's dodge.

Pretty much the reason Kargon stated, besides, it has been stated MANY times you can only have on ritual per item unless it is part of a tree.

In this case the alchemicals for sheild and armor will end up stacking because right now it is bugged and only works on robes and outfits I think. The next major release will be changing them from chemical to dodge bonus so that they will stack.
Now, will it retro active change, or will you have to put the item itself into the alter of change to fix it, I have no clues. I'm just going to wait till it is fixed myself to be on the safe side.

The shield ritual works some of the time. It currently counts as an armor increase rather then a shield increase. So if you had a white dragon scale robe with ritual and a shield with ritual equiped you would see Armor: 8 (6 robe+1 robe ritual+1 shield ritual).
