View Full Version : Halfling: already the uber-race, now destined for world domination

Halflings were already the best race. +1AC, +1with all weapons, +2 Dex, what's not to like? And they had the most powerful feat in the game, maxed, empowered dragonmarks.
I tried just about every combination with these. My main is now a Dragonmarked Halfling cleric/wiz. Of the many clerics I have built, he is far the best. This should be the standard cleric build. I love my Dragonmarked rogue/wiz with repeating xbow; he does so much healing, I get invited on quests that don't even have traps! My Dragonmarked evasion pally is another game-breaker.
These toons really should be nerfed, they are so powerful relative to many other builds that are out there.
Instead they made us even better? My evasion pally is a joke now with the extra, extra sneak attack damage.
I was into halflings before they hit the big-time. And now, just like every other band I hooked into first, I am afraid popularity will ruin them. Will the cool kids, the ones twinked out in Dragonscale armor and greensteel codpieces start playing halflings? In highschool when my favorite bands got popular, the cool kids made fun of me. I really hope the rich kids on my server don't realize that Halflings are where it's at.

I agree.... They know not the power of the shortness!
I find it really funny when people make jokes about my halfies and then I'm last one standing, highest on the kill counter or whatever. (yeah counter is for noobs, but it's fun to point at when ppl start talkin trash)
Halflings are the gods of this game and as long as the popular kids stay with dorfs we'll be ok. Afterall... dorfs are the second best shield out there, beaten only by 'forged.

Most importantly they have style, its just so entertaining to watch them kick 10x more ass than a fat smelly dwarf fighter, or wf barbarian beating his chest. :D

All of this talk about the uber-ness of the halflings, watch what happens when the pendulum swings back, and all of the nifty enhancements that were given, will be likewise taken away.
If I were you guys, I'd speak softly, and not so often about how "well" halflings have it now.
I'm not sayin' ........just sayin'......

I've always had a love of the halfling race, even though my guildmates ridicule me for it. I have managed to sway Lord Protector Var over to the halfling side.
They are the superior race, in more ways than one. Anyone is doubt of this should read "Races of the Wild". It explains the creation of the races including the halflings that are the last great race!

If you hollow them out and add the right kind of hatches you can fit three or four of us in there. Now that's travelling in style!

As soon as the dorfs get scaled back with their stuff, then I will worry about the hin getting the same treatment. My bet is that will happen around, umm never.

Halflings need to learn to stand up straight when they run. Silly-looking half-breed monkeys they are.

I'll be the first to tell you, when this game first started back in march 2006 i was all about dwarves. I still have 2 capped and love them. I just rolled my second halfling (some silly bard mutt combination) however and i gotta say, it's hard not to roll one of those two races at this point, with drow coming in right behind them.

i have two halfies and i know exactly what you mean
the saves you can rip out on them is amazing and they get plenty of nice racial benefits
i will say though that i have a dwarf and recently added a warforged and while they have some benefits halflings are much more balanced race capable of filling(IMO) more classes in better ways than do either of the supposed uber races

So if the cool kids play Dorfs, the goofy kids play halflings, the emo kids play elves and drow, does that mean the outcast kids play Warforged?

WF are awsome!
If you hollow them out and add the right kind of hatches you can fit three or four of us in there. Now that's travelling in style!
So you're saying, that all those super cool WF Casters (Wiz/Sorc) that run around, kicking booty and taking names while self-repairing, are really a couple of halflings, both with Dragon Marks, one a caster, the other said caster's 'significant other/eye candy' running around in a pimped-out suit of really large armor?

OK, I have a WF as my first character. (way back when you needed UA for them) So i am forced to defend their honor.
But... as to not stray from the thread... My Halfling cleric can outheal my WF cleric three fold, easy.

All it would do to take the wind out of our sails is to add in the penalties associated with being a halfling that are in the PHB:
Weapons are sized to our size = less damage.
Weight carried is cut down due to our crappy size.
If both of these were implemented, we would be more balanced. Of course, we all told them this before the game was released, but they didn't listen.
honestly, the enhancements break the game more than any one race, or class.
Without enhancements, we would actually be making DND characters, and turbine wouldnt have to make hella mobs that kill in one hit... since we wouldnt see toons walking around with 300 HP just to be viable *Sigh*

the regular pnp rules do not transfer very smoothly from a turn based system to a live action system. And to think it would, is ignorance.

that is total worth it for most melle based haflign especaly since most of them and TWF and get the sneak twcie as much :)
I know my Tempest monk spend the AP's and didnt evne think twice about it heck i had a few odd ones left at the end i had to figure out what to spened them on even :)
A paladin might cry though pallys just have a toen of AP's you tend to have to spend to try and de at least as good as the guy next to you.

Was thinking of rolling my first halfling as a finesse tempest 14 ranger/1 paladin/1 monk or 1 fighter instead for the haste boost. Do halflings take a size penalty for dual-wielding medium sized weapons(rapiers)? Can they wield large weapons and twohanded weapons?
rfachini

DDO implements no size penalties at all for halflings. two hand weapons, full damage, and full carrying capacity.
