View Full Version : So, for a monk, should I plan stats in stances I'm going to be using to be odd?

Don't know why I'm asking, since I don't have a slot for monk, but for future reference:
Let's say I plan on using the wind stance mainly later on.....since the highest we know of grants +3 to dex, should I be planning on an odd dex (after tomes and items) later on, so when I pop on wind stance, I get to an even number?

Hard To Say, I Guess It Depends On What Your Goals Are... Grinding +3 Tomes/+2 Tomes/Multiple Stances(Which -2 From Some Stats/+3 To Others)

No, Master Of "X" Stances Grant +3 To Their Main Stat, While Keeping The Plenatly At -2 On The Other.

Depends, don't forget there is a 18 level stance.

No, it grants +3 dex at level 12.
The problem is that there are tier 4 stances coming at level 18, and Turbine has not told us if they'll stay +3, or go up to +4. They really need to put that info out there. Players should not need to level a character to 18 to learn what a class's level 18 features are, especially if those features require painfully high ability scores to qualify.
PS. If they gave us several new character slots, like they should, then it would be less of a problem when they fail to fully document upcoming class features. But since they didn't see fit to add new slots when monks were added, they've got a responsibility to inform players of how monks will eventually work.

Well, let's say +2 tomes aren't a problem. And let's say mainly using 2 stances, either sun and water, or wind and water.....should 1 plan to get the str and wis or dex and wis to odd numbers, after the +2 tomes, factoring in that the master stance will grant you +3 and put you at even? Then if you happen to find a +3 tome for your odd stat, it's not like it'll hurt...just makes your in stance ability at an odd number, and out of stance ability is bumped to the next modifier.

Ahhh, forgot about the lvl 18 stance. Thanks guys.
Yep, that could change everything. I guess I'm glad I don't have a slot for monk now, cause I'd be pretty PO'd when rerolling at 18. :D

I Will Assume +3 Stat Raise,
1st Tier Stance = +2 Stat Raise
2nd Tier Stance = +2 Stat Raise(Improved Benefits)
3rd Tier Stance = +3 Stat Raise(Improved Benefits)
4th Tier Stance = +? Stat Raise(Will Assume; Improved Benefits)

Tier 2 fire stance has no improved benefit...

Hmmm, 2nd Tier Water Stance I Gained +1Ac When Tumbling, And +1 Saves.
Edit: Total Increase To +3 Each.

I stuck with even numbers banking on the fact that the tier 4 stances will be +4.
If i'm wrong, then i'm wrong
