I have to delete *HOW* many characters?

I just started clearing out character slots in order to make room for a monk. And I found out quite a surprise. I was told by a GM (Roseia or something like it) that we can only have 5 slots on each server. The thing that chaps my hide a little is that a few months ago the limit was nine (I should preface this by saying I had a full contingent on a server that was merged). So in preparation for hot monk action, I deleted a character, and am not able to replace it. Before anyone points it out - my plan we to make a lower level Cleric - to help keep squishy monks up and kicking...

I was at the old cap of 9, now down to 8, and in order to create a monk, I need to get to 4. I understand there have to be limits on character slots. But why not mention the change? Is it a sinister plot to boost subscriber numbers? (some of my guild mates have 2 accounts). Is it really worth it to have all these new classes come out if we have to delete our hard work in order to use them?

If someone could explain the reasoning behind it I would be appreciative. (*lookin' at YOU Dev team*)

And in closing, before someone accuses me of whining, I really enjoy the game, and have a lot of fun enjoying it. I just don't want to be penalized for wanting to try new content

Um the cap is currently 9 characters per server.

That dev must still think we're playing pre mod 1.

The character cap is 7 + 1 (400 favor) + 1 (1750 favor), unless turbine raises it with the release of mod 7.

I can confirm that 9 is the cap on risia.

I think you're experiencing a bug. Try logging onto the character who unlocked 1750 and talk to Nyx again. That might solve it.

I spoke directly to the GM. I'll try to talk to Nyx again, and hopefully this problem will go away.

I had that same problem. It is the a bug. The Fix:
Log on to your account.
Make sure you only have 8 or fewer toons made (thus 1 slot available).
Log on to one of your toons that has 1750 or more favor.
Log out of that toon.
Create a new toon.

Sometimes when you first log on or log on with a character that has under 400 or 1750 favor, the settings don't register properly. You just have to remind the game that you're awesome, and then it will spread its virtual "arms" and let your "new toon" inside.

On Risia, I got down to eight, and I could create a ninth, which I haven't unlocked on a live server. I deleted down to seven, and I could not create an eighth. I deleted down to five, and it let me create a sixth, but no more. I'll hypothesize it seems like something in the works allows a compromise for folks who've filled their legitimate slots to still be able to create a Monk when mod seven goes live, and max slot disparities between Risia and the live servers cause the code to throw a curve ball on Risia.

Leaves me pleading for a Fifth like WC Fields might have done.

Cash in your Favor when you first log in(LOG INTO A CHARACTER FIRST BEFORE DELETING ANYONE), then log out. If you don't get 9 slots, restart the client. This assumes you have attained 1750.

I had over 50 characters on Risa and deleted 1 expecting to have to delete down to 8 to make a monk. I was able to create a monk after deleting one character. I then decided I wanted to make another monk to try different race/build. Deleting another character didn't allow me so I deleted down to 30 characters and got tired of deleting so many. I deleted my 1st monk and I was able to make a 2nd. After a few levels I wanted again to try a different build. I deleted down to 9 hoping we would be able to make 10 characters. No luck. I deleted to 8 characters and no luck. I was like wait no 1750 character on Risa so only 8. I didn't want to delete any of the remaining characters so I deleted my monk and had only 7 characters. I now can't make a new character. 7 characters a number of them with 400+ favor and can't make another character.

Logged into more than one character before deleting anything (to sell inventory baggage I really didn't need on Risia). Had characters who'd attained 400 favor talk to Nyx. Logged out, logged in, completely restarted DDO client. I'm still locked at six slots. Which is not consistent with the live servers, as I know them.

Since Risia is a test server, I'm not too worried, but I am puzzled.

I too am stuck making characters on risia. Had 10 when I installed and ran it for the first time. Erased one character... no good. Erased another and then I could make a new character (9 total slots). Couple days later, I delete the new monk I made and it won't let me make a new character. So I delete another, and another, logging out re-booting, etc. each time. Now down to 6 and still can't make a new one.

I am only allowed 7 characters on Risia at the moment, with 1750 unlocked. However I believe I can explain this. When character data was last copied to Risia it was just before the server merges, meaning the live servers still had a character cap of 5 + 1 (400 favor) + 1 (1750 favor). I'm almost certain that when turbine went in and rewrote the max # of characters per server, they neglected to change that # on Risia, since after all it's only a preview server after all.

Just checked my 2nd account (no characters with 400 favor on it pre-server merge), and it seems the unmodified character limit is 5 on Risia, but as I explained above, it kind of makes sense.

This is a bug that happened after the server merge.

I was at 12 or 13 characters after Mabar & Agro, deleted 1 and was able to create another. Technically not supposed to be able to create more than 9, but the deletion of the first one spurned a CREATE button and I was able to CREATE. Unfortunately, I didn't want to create and let it slide as I was doing something else even trickier with my characters at that moment.

Later I went back to try to delete another Mabar 28 pt build and see what options would appear. I was disheartened that I did indeed lose that character as intended without gaining the option to create a character.

So, for those who want to create monk.... if you haven't EVER deleted since the server mergers.... just saying.... might wanna prep, but not go full monty til after the mod update.

Hehe this would make sense, kind of. Most of my characters were 'capped' at 14+ or various deleted alts. My highest favor on risia is just shy of 1700, so no 7th slot. Musta been a fluke that it gave me the slot the first time.
