Looking through my favor list, I noticed I missed Deleras part 1 & 2 elite on my lvl 12 sorc. As this is such a commonly run quest, almost everyone has this on elite, so I figured, why not solo these two parts myself instead of looking for a group. Part 2 requires a second person to hit a switch, but I just got a guilde to help me with that. During part 2 I end up getting killed. I rez, and run back to get in before it resets. Great I made it.
Going up the hallway, I reach the gate where 3 levers are pulled to open a gate, and the gate is closed with some ghostly skeletons on the other side. Since all the levers have been triggered already, there isnt much I can do to open the gate. This is a gate I had already opened before and gone past before I died. I figure, this has to be a bug, so I put in a help ticket, asking them to open the gate.
After about 15 minutes, I give up, run to repair and get full sp, and wait for the instance to reset. Then the DM comes on. He tells me "the gate is operating as intended. If you have a party wipe past this gate, you have to repeat the quest from the beginning. In fairness, the DM was polite and even joked around about it a little, so nothing against him. However, this seems odd to me.
Why would the devs put that in there? It just seem arbitrary. I know there are other quests where you make a mistake or one person dies and the quest fails. VoN 2 can be a real pain at times with the wrong group, for example. But, a gate simply being locked once you pass it (and only if you wipe), seems weird. When I hit the spot where one person cranks the lever and one person or persons runs up the ramp, I called a guildie to come in and work the lever for me. The gate wasn't locked then...why?
I am not ranting here, and please do NOT use this thread to complain about the devs. Just curious to know if someone knows why it was designed like this.
Thanks
