Behold! The might feedback thread, in all its glory!
How it works:
I'll be asking you questions, and here in my thread, you tell me: What comes to mind; what you think; how you feel; etc, as it relates to the question(s) at hand. If you missed the previous week's questions, they'll be listed below and you can answer them here too. Thank you so much to everyone for offering their answers!
Ground Rules:
Before we get started, let's lay down three ground rules if you're going to participate in the thread. These ground rules also have a few samples to help clarify participation:
#1 - The single most important rule to remember while participating in this thread is:
No personal attacks.
If you disagree with the opinion of another participant, that's fine, but no one can make anyone agree to their opinion. Thus, please refrain from commenting on the personal qualities of others who offer their responses to the question(s). Personal attacks go against forum guidelines. Questions asked will be subjective, and some users will have a lot related to their opinion, while others may only define things in short phrases. All forms are acceptable.
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "Do you like ice cream?"
Player 1 "I hate ice cream because it's too tough to scoop"
Acceptable "I like it. It's not that bad to scoop once you let it sit on the counter for a little bit before you try to dip it Player 1."
Acceptable "I like it but I have the same problem as Player 1. What brand is it Player 1?"
Acceptable "I don't think it's too hard, I never have any problem with it. I like ice cream."
Unacceptable "That's cause you're a noob..."
Unacceptable "You don't have enough experience with scooping to be talking about how difficult it is"
Unacceptable "How about you back that opinion up with some numbers. If you can't prove it don't bring it here"
Everyone has the right to offer their response to the question(s), whether they have scientific data to back up their feelings, or they simply just "feel" a certain way towards the question(s).
#2 - Participate as well as discuss.
If you would like to join in the discussion, please be sure to offer your response to the questions as well, in addition to your conversation with any other thread participants
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "What's your favorite color?"
Player 1 "Blue"
Player 2 "Green"
Acceptable "Purple... hey Player 2, how come you like Green?"
Unacceptable "hey Player 2 how come you like Green?"
Please be sure to take the time to offer your own opinion of the question(s) before you engage in a discussion about other people's opinions in the thread.
#3 - Don't recycle the above hypothetical examples in your responses ;) as it spams the thread.

10-12 are the worst now.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Quests, Groups, and raid gear

Darts. Some sort of tavern game to keep some semblance of RP feel but have something mindless to do.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Without a doubt levels 8 and 9. After you hit 10 you get many more options. This might be self inflicted though. I can think of many quest series available in that level range, but I always feel like my characters get bogged down in that area.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
This ones easy: Active Combat, the iconic DnD experience (monsters, spells, feats), and my RL friends I've had for 25 years getting together on tuesday night to group together.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Tough question. Don't play many games other than DDO. I am a big eye candy fan... the new DX10 features are great, I also like anything that will bring my quad extreme edition w/ nvidia 8800 to its knees...

Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1) Mini-games! You ought to get WotC to fund implementing Three Dragon Ante and Inn Fighting. Oooh and D&D miniatures.
2) From about 7th to whatever is 4 levels less than the cap.
3) Story/plot. Active Combat. Various character creation/customization options.
4) More involved visual character customization. (Other than that, it's mostly just improvement for existing things.)

??? Other then Questing… Hmm Crafting comes to mind, a quick pvp match would be kind of fun… kind of like Call of Duty or Halo. Where all you have to do is jump in and catch a match. Quick, fun, also could get a different type of exp or player bonus.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-10… for me and I think most of the player base, this is where it hurts
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Combat… Character development (just wish we could have different icons in the LFM/LFG)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Open areas (understand this is for only the first few times then it gets old)
Randomness
Boats, Horses, Trains, (airships)… again could be the first few times then could have an option to just jump to quest/inn/town.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.?
Traveling. Like LOTRO travelling. I think it would be cool to walk (or ride!) from one place to another, not just teleport. Let people who have travelled to a place teleport afterwards, but I feel that players should have to actually find the place first. That was my absolute favorite feature of LOTRO, and I miss that a lot now that I've returned to DDO.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date??
12-14. That's because no one plays the Necropolis quests unless they are looting for shield fragments or favor. I think DDO needs a brand new set of quests to accommodate these levels. Even if the Necropolis quests are fixed, they are simply not enjoyable to most players. Your own research into player quest-playing probably reveals this too. I know some people like them, but most people do not.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO??
1. Character Customization
2. Combat System
3. Graphics
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1. Solo advancement: I think every non-raid quest should have the ability to be played on solo. Even if it has a slightly reduced Base XP like the current solo quests. I can't tell you how amazing that would be for this game. Yes, I like playing with other people most of the time. And I like being in a world inhabited by lots of people too. But there are lots of times when I'm really in the mood to play solo. And there is not much option for this in the upper levels.
2. Random dungeons: Man, my guild would really love to walk into a dungeon of a set level and have no idea what was going to happen. We would love to not know where any traps are, and not have to know some crazy order that the quest is "supposed" to be played in. We would like to just walk in and see how far we can go. And if we get to the end, we drop one level lower and try our luck...
3. Upper level quests that are just for fun: Epic quests and storylines are great and all. But short or medium-length quests are fun too. And these just don't exist at the upper levels. Not everything has to be super-clever. Sometimes it's fun just to get from point A to point B and live to tell the tale!

Hmm, there's quite a number of things. But I think I would really like it if the music system from LOTRO was in the game. That, or an impromtu duel system so I don't have to go to a tavern whenever I felt like picking a fight. :)
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
It changes every time the level cap increases, but right now I think 7-12 is especially difficult.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Combat System
Character Customization (in terms of stats, skills, enhancements)
Platforming (Some people really hate it, but I love jumping across cliffs and up pipes)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
This is kinda a hard question to answer....but here goes.
Two of my favorite combat systems outside of DDO would be in Prince of Persia, and more recently, Assassin's Creed. They're simple, but not so simple it's boring. DDO's combat system, while better than any other MMO, feels a little too simple at time. At the very least, it would be kinda nice if dodging blows through tumbling or parrying was possible.
I really like other MMO's wider variety in character appearance and equipment appearance. It would be nice if things like gloves and boots actually showed up to further customize our appearance.
And again, I think I'll point over to LOTRO's music system. I really think that would be a nice addition to DDO.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
crafting would be fun..
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
no doubt the lvl 8 to 13 - its a living hell... right now.. too many people capped doing raids non stop or new players bellow lvl range.. the middle is by far the worst to lvl up.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
combat system
spell using sps
the friends i made in game
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
character appearence customization
alliance system between guilds
crafting ( a real system not the grind we have to do right now )

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Entertaining minigames that can be played in group while waiting for quests. Optimally, not something we'd have to go anywhere to play, but perhaps just bring up a window or something. They'd have to be fast paced, and preferably would allow for betting. Slower more involved games played in taverns (but again in groups taking adantage of in-party chat) would also be interesting, I suppose.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-12 presently. By formula the range between MaxLevel - 4 and MaxLevel - 8
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Active Combat; the DnD reference base (monsters, spells, feats, rules); the well-done quests
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
I used to enjoy one-player games of all sorts but since discovery MMOs and the real-life interactions, I seldom play them now. I like eye-candy. I have to admit I do enjoy the exploring aspect of some other MMOs that I've played/tried where you really feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere with nobody else around ... I guess lastly I'd say being overwhelmed by new systems. Recent addition of crafting did this - gave us something wholly new to learn. Its a big reason I have tried other games to try and "master" new material / systems. Raids are kind of like this to a lesser extent ....

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Going to my character bank and looking at ALL my stuff from ALL my toons in one account so I can easily move money and equipment around without taking a week to do it.
Going into the dozens of high level 'short quests' for fun and profit (these short quick quests do not exist at the moment). Each mod adds a few quests and that is it. How about giant cave stuff, short wild fights and a chest or two? Just add 10 or twenty each time you add a mod.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
The first 10 levels. It is no longer any fun to run the grind of the same quests to get to this level. I would rather I could just start at 10 and be done with it. It seriously killed my interest in the game.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Online friends, grouping, challenge of solo/low level/small group in dungeons. Going into dungeons that make sense. Gianthold and tempest spine (oops, that was 'used to be favorite')
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1- more thought out and user friendly interfaces for things like the auction house, character sheets, and other informative or useful things.
2- pistols and rifles
3- a huge outddor area with lots of things to do..like 10 times the size of vale, that is made for raid size groups and not small groups.

Tavern games, the suggestion for darts is great. Something that can help buld comraderie outside of combat.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-10
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
It's DND, the combat system, instanced play (if you consider that different from combat itself).
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Don't do much outside of DDO right now, but what I think that DDO could use is a stronger underlying story. This was prevelant in many of the single player DND games that were out for the PC some years ago.

Create and use items to decorate player house, guild halls, and my characters
Question 2

3) Questing system (although not the devepopment time for it)

Well crafting would be one as that can be done while not in a quest. I also wouldnt mind some more inventive gambling games that are not text based. I would really like the ability to build something like a house or whatever.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9 - 13 by a wide margin. While its not impossible, its a challenge. Once you hit 9 there is nobody to run Tempest spine, artaxia's haven does not give out enough xp, and your only option is maybe the desert but nobody runs that anymore either. So your stuck.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
RTC ( real time combat ) DDO does it best. Instance quest ( some people dont like this but I think its great for this game ). Dev team ( They have some talent )
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Customization ( the ability tomake my character my own ), Varied combat ( a way to make the typical punch, kick, punch less repetetive ). Easy to start and replayable ( If I cant figure out a game in 10 minutes I usually take it back to the store. Games should be quick to learn tough to master. I also want a game that I want to play over and over again.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Tavern Gaming ala Vegas baby! Yeah! Roulette, craps, 21, poker, heck, even solitaire. Click on the table to join in, would have voice chat like when in party. Some kind of game other than the random chance thing in the Phoenix tavern.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-10 Xp is quests is atrocious at those levels as compared to amount need to enhance or level. It becomes a mini-grind.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
(as stated above... :) )
1. Character Customization
2. Combat System
3. Graphics
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1. Clothing and customizable clothing/armor
2. Large open areas that are multi-instances; meaning, giving you the chance to "run into" another party. To include PvP; but with the cavaet that both parties agree to the combat. (would be no fun for a group of level 8's run into a group of level 16's)
3. Guild banking/housing. Crafting should be done there, by "your" guy (blacksmith, alchemist, etc), that you would hire or acquire depending on your or guilds level/prestige/favor....something along those lines.
:)

PVE arena - you pick the monster and the cr and go after it. would really help to hone your skills against certain monster types like a cr99 beholder
skills arena - allows you to hone your tactics skills against certain monster types (hide, trip, sap, etc)
would be nice if it allowed you to cycle through feats and test them on monsters.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
non-caster type - 10-13
caster type - 5-9
the lower level slayer areas are a melee's playground while the upper level ones are a casters playground. its very easy for casters to pile up 3000 kills in gianthold while most melees hardly get to 200 because of the expense.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
base jumping
making odd classes work
playing with friends
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
simulations (picking a map, opponent type, objective and running the quest)
saving an instance when a rl situation pops up
injecting my own tunes into my bards' songs

Is it just me or has this one been asked before? Me thinks I smell a dev question...
The AH & selling stuff is the only thing I do outside of a quest, and the only thing I want to do out of quest. I don't play to gamble, fish, etc. Please keep your dev time on making new quests/spells.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Somewhere around 9-11 grouping can be tougher these days but I don't really think any level is particularily tougher or easier in general.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?

S/R/E in outside areas

9-11 because of grouping desires for quests. (Appears slower at least, always 1 up or down from your level needed lol)

Social Interaction (to an extent)
Puzzle solving
Flashy spell actions (graphics)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
My favorite non-questing activities are the auction house, the pawn brokers, and any player run or Turbine run events.
Now that being said, I would love to see some type of actual gambling or card games in the taverns when things are slow.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
The most difficult range for me is lvl 8-12 simply because there are few people willing to run stuff in this range, most want to power level to GH and the Vale. So I sit in these areas for awhile, I would love to see some soloable stuff in this area.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
#1 Loot and the Green-steel crafting
#2 Quests where everyone is laid back and is just there ro have fun.
#3 Obviously the combat system and the ability to customize my characters to how I like to play.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
#1 Customizing appearances of loot and characters.
#2 Statistics (i.e. dmg dealt, healing dealt, efficiency {easily obtained, not reading through a combat log for an hour})
#3 Interacting with the environment, (i.e doors leading into houses, garden walls with private gardens, exploring the city common) also I would like to see some different environmental effects, lightning on an overcast day, puddles after a rain, snowfall in the winter, leaves in the fall)

Crafting is a big one.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9-11. I don't know if it's the most difficult really, but for me it's the hardest to get through because of the lack of groups doing interesting quests. I'm not as familiar with quests above level 10, as my highest level character is 10, but it just seems that most groups are looking for levels 1-8 and 12+ for quests. The ones that are in that 9-11 range are the VON series and Xorian's Cipher which aren't bad, but they tend to get old quick for me.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Combat.
Customization.
Community.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Team based meaningful PVP, which I wouldn't really want in DDO.
Crafting.
More character customization (ie. height, weight, etc.)

8-12, depending on build and class.

fun, social interaction, and challenge
edit:almost forgot, the fun and challenge come directly from real time combat, so real time combat is in my list.

For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.Fishing...crafting...hunting crafting supplies...customizing the look of my gear...real estate...decorating the house...researching stuff on the forums..wait...I already do the last one.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?8-12.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?combat system, familiarity, lack of serious on foot travel...between cities. I mean, there is the orchard, TR, Coo6, meridia, 12, other than that...it ia minimal.(more travel...and we will need mounts.)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?...
um...exploring non directly quest related areas, ones that arent instanced. run from one area to the next. exploring vast areas in the hopes of finding interesting things not in chests/scenery few see
making things. non end game raid things...using
using non quest related skills, tracking, fishing, cooking, fabricating, building, hunting, skill contests, decorating, customizing, buying non quest related items....comfort stuff.

One of them would be roleplaying and gossiping in guilds. However, with the limited emotes, housing and clothing it would be harder to roleplay. I want to add crafting, gathering components and browing AH to this list, but that is not as fun due to limited crafting and AH functionality.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I would say 6-9, since you are not high enough for Giant Hold yet, and not enough middle level PUG parties in LFM list.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1) There is a 3D feel to dungeons in contrast to other games like Neverwinter Nights series or Baldur's Gate series. For example, like the Fire Caves.
2) I like the combat system in comparison to other MMOs like Everquest series, World of Warcraft.
3) The dungeons are instanced such that there is no grieving, kill stealing, loot stealing, etc. I like some of the quests.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1) When I was playing the NWN series, it was always fun to create my own spells, dungeons, maps, NPCs.
It was fun to create my own special great general attached to a specific unit regarding upgrades. i.e. customization and randomization events in Civilization IV and expansions.
2) I thought it was convenient to be able to draw on party member's maps to direct them to locations as in Guild Wars.
It was also convenient for an international party who cannot speak English. Drawing is an universal language.
So it <ctrl>-<action> and then the game displayed the <action>, whether it be a spell casted or a special
attack and notify the other party members of your <actions> in their local native language.
3) It was fun to decorate my own house in UO, crafting and diplomacy in Vangard.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Crafting. Tavern games where we could actually earn/win plat.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-10. I think this is when the really good players either sail through or re-roll. The newer players may get frustrated here because the game reaches a level of difficulty they aren't used to, so they quit or roll a new character or don't play as often. After 10 if ur decent you can go to GH and getting to 12 is a breeze.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
The jump in and quest aspect (no travel etc.)
Combat
The people you can meet

I would like a guild house set up to hang out in.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Level 8-10 is probably the most difficult to find/fill a group, and I also think that it might be the most difficult, since you can't carry the uber stuff yet.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
The combat system.
The player base is more friendly and mature compared to other MMOs.
Player customization.

Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1) Trivia events, gambling.
2) None. It is fun to play all the levels. The problem for some is getting groups together for levels around 8-10.
3) No scheduled times (can just join and play), Teamwork (grouping with others), playing with people around the world.
4) Multiple outcome (having several options on how to tackle quests based on classes / skills), animal companions / hirelings (red shirts ;)), Core rules (no enhancements, inflated monsters just based on how some people play:rolleyes:).
I have to leave out the obvious ones that will never work in an online game: human interaction with the DM, working outside the ruleset (finding a way to avoid the encounter so the DM has to make up something quick), interactive NPCs.

I would be interested in ‘hobby’ type activities such as what you can do in LOTR. Not sure how they would fit into the game, but being able to play an instrument or work on a non-game skill that might help in crafting (ie fishing) would give us something to work on.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9-12 (1-8 seem pretty easy, 13’s and up can play with capped 16’s without loosing XP)
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Differentiation in character builds, the combat mechanic, it’s D&D based.
Question 4

Having more to do while waiting for a group to form, changing the appearance of items (such as dying armor), large public questing areas (non-instanced).

Question 3

Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1) Wilderness areas are great for this. But, they should be soloable by most classes at the level that nearby quests are set to... If I am trying to build a party for something, let me go out and kill stuff and loot a bit while I wait. (Even if I am on a tank)
2) The most difficult level range starts when you can't solo effectively (meaning it starts taking forever if you are solo), and ends when you are 5 levels away from Cap. In other words, currently level 8 through 11. This is because it is very hard to build parties unless you are within range of the very high population of capped players.
3) There's a lot to love. Recent quests have been rocking... The Shroud is great. I'm glad you abandoned the whole "everything undead" phase you were in. Also, I really love it that the difficulty of quests and areas is independant from the character... I like to be able to get in over my head... Or, to go kill easy stuff once in a while.
4) Having gear show up on your toon (as in Morrowind). Auto quest advancement (like if you forget to talk to someone, your quest advances anyway). Saving your game (or some portion of your progress) if you have to leave before a quest is fully complete.

1. An arena that I could select what my opponent is, their style of combat, and the landscape all so I could try out new weapons, attacks, spells, feats, etc. To see if I really liked them or not. Getting an arena like this setup would also help a LOT in debugging of stuff and proving if something is working as intended or not. Now I'll grant you, you have to be careful about what mobs you allow in there other wise you know players will go in there just to figure out their stats easier. Kudo's to you Cow for all that work you've done so far.
I'd also be interested in some actual animated bar games that could be played for coin and prizes. The whole text based games just scream back to high school and text based graphing calculator games used to pass the time in the middle of a teacher's lecture. You've done so much work to make the world wonderful and... bam. Text based game. ugh.
2. This answer is a slider. right now.. I'd say 5 and 11. Why? They are the current hump levels. Any level that has that "hump" mark is harder to play just because it is so much more difficult to level to get to "the good stuff."
3. How nice everything looks, fluidity of combat, voice chat
4. See the first one there in #3? I want the ability to change hair style and color of my character. Lip color, eye color, etc. Yes KATE I'm directly pointing this out at you. The "looks gamer" is the area that is keep getting neglected. I've got some great gear that is non raid but UGH.. its so freaking uggly, and my hairstyle IS SO DARN OLD!!! Change is good, we want to be able to change this stuff.
I would also like a dedicated trade channel. (I know you are pushing for one, hopefully this helps some, and we don't have one yet.)
and for the third one.... I would like a new quest in the game. The "Quest for Ham" and other tasty treats. As silly as it sounds, yes, I want to be able to have an easier method of farming for the ham and possibly cupcakes, candy canes, etc. than what we currently have. Put in a special vendor that only takes the festival coins and you run the quest to gain coin to turn them in at the end. This wouldn't overly effect festivus drop rates when it comes around again.
Actually.. it could make for a fun little event quest, much like demon invasion only a lot more light hearted. Reuse of an old quest say.. Guard Jung's badge quest would be appropriate of size as it were.

Tavern games would be good. I also have to second more Giant Caves type mini quests. No need to be uber complicated just down and dirty shorts that yield small xp and gold gains. Make them 10th level and up, and yes, about 20 per up date.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
For me it is the 10th to 13th range. I seem to fly to 10th and then things slow down.

1. Combat
2. Multi-classing

Question 1: Crafting would be a nice diversion. Also, if you could build either an offline or seperate tool to help with character maintenance that would be great. I find I spend a lot of wasted time switching between characters figuring out who's got what. Time I could spend questing.
Question 2: 8 - 11. There are usually a lot of options for level 7 and below. Once you hit 8 and until Gianthold, there isn't as much available.
Question 3: Questing, Character planning, Active combat system.
Question 4: Alignments that mean something to characters, non-linear solutions to quests, variety of locations to be explored.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in?
A decent PvP model that doesn't perpetually give sorcerers a "gimme" - maybe include anti-magic shells, traps, disable tab/F1 targetting and generally make it harder to maintain a lock on someone.
A "danger" room where you can summon a monster(s) from a list and fight them
A place to practice Asteroids, the tile room and iceberg-hopping
Scavenger hunts that require you to find a bunch of special collectibles in out-of-the-way places (wilderness or non-combat areas) and times you against previous records.
Examples: on the roof above Kobold's Ringleader, on top of the pillar near the spire in the marketplace, etc
Composing your own music using the LoTRO system and playing it in special areas
Competitive Mastermind/Lights out/Portal Smacking/Random Tile Puzzle - compete against others on the same pattern
Kolbong:
two people stand across a wide arena from each other. A kobold appears in the middle, and randomly heads towards one of the two. If that person hits the kobold and does damage, it turns, and runs off in the other direction, w/some random angular adjustment. The other person hits the kobold, etc. Each time it is hit, it goes a little faster, and it slowly gains DR. Eventually, it gets past one of the players, and the other player scores a point. Best 2 out of 3.

What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?

I love toying around with the emotes. More of them is always a good thing in my opinion. I wish that there was a way to add balloons for some things that your characters say in the public channel.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I've always thought that levels 7 and 8 are the slowwest to proggress though. Now I'd say levels 8-10, because it is difficult to find groups that WANT to run the level appropriate content for those levels. Raise your hand if you've seen more than 1 threanal group up in the past 3 days. See my point? :)
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1) I'll add another vote for the combat system here.
2) I like that there can be many different versions for each class of character. I just wish that some of these were a little more useful in more situations. Because of the diversity, it can make for differently powered builds, but there is a large gap in the usefulness of those diverse skill sets. Many of the social skills are weak, stealth is a strange ability that seems to work poorly in alot of situations, and some skills & feats have no use at all right now. That's a different rant though...
3) I like the favor system. It is a neat way to expierience some of the variety of the content availible that a player may miss while leveling while still getting some benefit out of it.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1) I really enjoyed the character creation system that City of Heroes/Villians used. The body scaling was fantastic, and I would dearly like to see it implemented here. This would be a wondeful style of a creation system to add if it is even possible.
2) I like to see different kinds of dice. It would be neat to have a few (and only a few) more options for the appearance of the ones we have here.
3) More variety in the look of certain items? How about the ability to respec? More spells? More skins for armours? The screen that says "The End"? I'm not sure about a 3rd answer to be honest. No game can have everything, but this game is actually pretty good at what it does have. That does not mean that I am not wanting more, so get crackin' already! :D:D:D:D

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
A.) Crafting or socially interacting with Npcs.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
A.) There are 2 actually and I think they're about the same. 8 to 10 and 14+. Both are for much the same reasons. There isn't really good equipment readily available to feel comfortable within quests. You might run quests fifty times, and until you do get better equipment to kill rather quickly, or defend against a decent amount of attacks, quests feel hurried.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
A.) Finger of Death, 'Cult' Hangouts and Places to Socialize, Unshared instances for looting/quests.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
A.) Making characters look feel how I want them to feel(IE. Well this is a bit of a loaded question... Crafting.
Question 2 - What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
7-13. It's where the quests become less solo friendly and you either get a group of unprepared players or overbearing players. And on a personal note all the lvl 9-10 pre mod 3 quests still suffer from an antequated game design that tells clerics to go frak themselves.
Question 3 - What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
It's the only MMO that's actually D&Dish.
Kobolds

housing would be neat to play with espically if you could have pictures or mounted heas of foe's you had slain like a red dragon scale framed or a bolt from the titan ect...
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9-12 seem pretty tough , couple of reason for rerolls or power gamers you under lvl play the gh and desert quest for big xp, and your 32pt twinked out toons it can go very smooth...however the newer player and untwinked toons can not keep pace at this lvl spread and it makes for a ulgly mess...honestly if I feel the best thing to help this problem is more adventure areas that can be soloed by all classes at that lvl spread
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
feel like I've ansewred this one before ....retread question?????....
anyway
1. my in game friends
2. combat system, love that this is not a turn based game
3.trying out and lvling new toons (I'm lacking in this area right now as I have 9 16th lvl toons...please give us more slots)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
my first mmo so not sure how to answer this .......instead I will say that DDO needs better QA way to many bugs make it to us the player base
Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Short missions or rewarded training exercises that help with character advancement. I often find myself waiting for my guild to login or a party to form for a quest I like to run. Slayer works good for passing the time while still progressing my character. I often used WW, STK, and Threnal for this at lower levels before the slayer areas started. Anything that allows small increases in XP, and small amounts of treasure so my time doesn't feel wasted. Slayer is good for this but after the first 400 kills it stops feeling productive because it takes so long to get to the next award. Solo quests are fun, but take an amount of commitment that may need to be abandoned when your group is ready and a true solo quest doesn't allow you to build a party while playing. Also there is a lack of soloable content at many levels.
Short missions where friends could jump in as you build a party or wait for guildies would help if they offered some sort of consistent reward or one that scales with level or scales down with the number of people involved.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I find 8-11 the levels where my characters bog down. There seems to be a lack of quests that people want to run in that range plus you get almost no XP for any quests a single character can solo at that level. My first toon made it through by soloing the giant caves of Threnal but the challenge level has increased making it tough for my 8 & 9 level toons to get much XP there. In an attempt to make the different classes valuable there are many quests in that range that just can't be done without certain skills or even someone to work switches while someone else goes through doors.
At 10th level Gianthold kicks in and things get fun again but it takes until about 12 before you can stand alone in the slayer area and hold your own until you can get into a group running the quests. But here again my first toon spent a lot of time running POP to get XP and loot but the rewards have been reduced so much that groups don't run it very often any more. Even with all those runs I've only pulled about half of the named loot I can't always dedicate 2 hours or more for 1 quest so short challenging runs like POP for decent rewards are great. I would like to see more short quests for higher level characters. I can see why my 16 level sorc would be capped in POP but my 12 level Palladin was capped after what seemed like just a few runs. Come on, leave us the ability to enjoy some of the shorter content.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Very well concieved and executed story lines. Yeah after repeating the quest a couple of times we click through the intro as fast as we can, but at one time or another I have read every story line of every quest I have run.
Spell casting. Tanks are quick and easy but nothing beats the raw power of throwing out mass damage spells. (Especially since mid level crowd control spells like solid fog were nerfed.
The combination of both solo and group quests. I don't always have time to spend waiting for a group to form and sometimes I don't have the ability to imerse myself enough to commit my attention to a group so having quests I can solo lets me get in some play at times I would not be able to otherwise. Still the best part is running with a group of like minded people, otherwise I would not be playing on the web.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Painting minitures - I would like a to be able to change the look of my characters more. Especially after I start playing them. Kind of odd to be wearing royal dragon plate and still look like you just came off the farm.
Resting in the dungeon. Sure there are rest shrines but sometimes they are not available and just getting a few HP or SP back in a safe area could mean the diffence in completing the quest.
Non-Liniar solutions. In our table top game the most fun comes from creating clever ways around problems. I understand how this would not work in a programmed environment but it is an aspect I miss in DDO.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Mini games like darts or something that could be done with others or by one's self.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I have a steady group to play with so I've not found any level range particularly hard. After lvl 7, its harder in that your options for solo play largely dry up and pugs are more difficult to find. But I'm rarely looking for either.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Character customization, focus on quests/dungeons rather than random spawns, active combat
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Better visual customization; RP props like sittable chairs, regular clothes, visible accessories; Can't think of a third thing. I'm really quite pleased with DDO as it is. It would be nice if there was some variability in spawns, trap locations, and so on to improve replay. But I can't think of any game that's actually implemented well in.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Account banking would be a huge time saver for me, giving me time to do things much preferable than gear organization. That is not really an activity though so...
Guild Hall work of some kind and Mini-Games... I'll get into that more on question #4.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Levels 7-10. Before 7 there are still many casual/new/rerolls playing, after 10 people start slowing down, and gianthold groups are always fun and fillable. In that ****y 7-10 range seems to be the fewest amount of people and the xp rewards are the worste, and it's a very tough range to be soloing. And I am sick of playing Threnal Ruins/Co6/Gwyllans/Stormcleave... and it's tough to get people to join me in the Pit, even though I love that quest.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
The Combat System.
Vast differences in effective character creation. The major downside to this is we don't have enough character slots on a single server. Few people want to play on multiple servers to play new characters, especially with the current favor reward system of drow and 32 point.
It's DnD! Dungeon crawls, outdoor expanses, beholder, devils, demons... Dragons! I love it all, I just want MORE!
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
#1 - There just isn't enough to do between questing. My first thought is something like the Arcade in Final Fantasy VII, where you can play mini-games, including practice on other parts of the game (like the snowboarding part). In DDO, I would love to see a gambling hall, or a The Twelve Training Center where we could practice Abbot Mini-Games. Or something like an X-Man Danger Room.
#2 - Guild system. Primarily Guild Halls, but also guild list organization (would love to see something where we could group characters by player) or have a clickable description on player list, or something.
#3 - I would say Crafting, but it is in the works, and I am optimistically hoping it will continue to get better, so I am going to go with my 4th choice which is character appearance customization in play. C'mon Barbershop/tattoo-parlor/lase-eye surgeon.
1) A place to practice some of the 'games' in some of the raids--maybe a carnival comes to Stormreach and has asteroids, lights out, mastermind, ice ball,....
2) 10-12
3) Love the active real time combat; stories/plots; named items.
4) The ability to upgrade non-raid items, like in Baldur's Gate II; character clothing/appearance enhancements--dyes, barbers, cloaks, pants, pirate shirts; Grues.

Was on vacation, here are last week's answers:
Question 1
Which of the following do you prefer to play DDO with:
Standard Keyboard
Standard Mouse
"Gaming centric" keyboard (example: G-15)
"Gaming centric" or specialty mouse (example: trackball, weight cartridge, etc)
Game controllers (example: x-box)
Other (please specify)
Standard keyboard, standard mouse.
Question 2
What is your greatest in-game achievement?
Dunno. None of them look all that great from where I stand. 29 minute titan from teleport to victory, with completion in both parts?
Question 3
Do you visit any DDO related fansites? If so, which is your favorite and why?
Nope.
This week's question(s) are:

Umm... questing is pretty much the only reason I play. If I can't do it, I go read a book or something.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Level 8 to (max_level - 3)
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Combat. Instanced quests. Build customization.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Variety. When I finish a game, I stop playing and go to the next one, although DDO has so far been the exception.
Content is being released now at its slowest pace since the game began. I'm sure someone has made that conscious decision based on subscription numbers. It seems to me that the game is approaching end of life -- about 6 weeks after a mod I'm ready to hang it up. The once per month updates were MUCH better.

1. Minigames. Live auctions. Building up my guild.
2. None. I have never found the "dead spot" everyone talks about
3.
(a) Its D&D
(b) Character generation and growth
(c) My guild mates and non-guild friends.
4.
(a) Creative problem solving (such as in tabletop D&D)
(b) Strategy & Tactics (such as the best board and card games)
(c) Odd humor (such as most things by Steve Jackson Games)
edit: I take back the 3rd one there is odd humor in the game already :)

Behold! The mighty feedback thread, in all its glory!
-------------------------- Let's Get Started! --------------------------
This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
I enjoy jumping around the buildings of Stormreach Proper and trying to fly or climb as high as possible. If you were to expand the "exploration" limits of our fair city, I would be very happy. I would like to "jump" up to the air ship and explore it. My entire guild is behind me on that idea. If there's one thing DDO does better than other games, it's exploration of physical limits within the world -- a tribute to Asheron's Call, no doubt. We'd also like to be able to play musical instruments once we reach the ship. The flight spell would be great for city exploration too.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Levels 6-9. You need more content in worth running at these levels. There's only oh-so-many Stormcleaves, Gwylan's, Archer Point D's and Deleras that I can stomach. House Jorasco's quests are a tad difficult at this level (what we're meant to play there). House Kundarak's are pretty tough too if on elite. House Deneith's are too easy at this level. House P has Tangleroot (too easy) and the original Necropolis quests (boring to me). A new variety for these levels would be great and force all the monks to group up with non-monks (make some monk-alienating quests with cool monk-rewards!) IE Harder to do with pure-monk group, normal difficulty with mix & match group w/monks.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Dungeons.
Dragons.
People.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Real Crafting (harvesting and crafting based on skill).
Real Community-Gathering Places (bigger better Taverns with a real reason to go to them!) This would also be nice to work with the Guild Safehouse/Keep too. Allow all guilds to visit eachother's Safehouses and, if deemed by the owners, to bannish anyone not welcome there. Create an open-instance with portals "ie routes" to all guilds, based on purchased type. The Arcane Tower. The Holy Temple. The Decrept Crypt. The Dwarven Cavern. The Seaside Keep. The Mountain Stronghold. The Regal Castle. The Elven Tower. The Hunting/Adventure Camp. The Ethereal Demiplane Rock. The Astrally-anchored Spelljammer. There could be more, but I'll stop here.
I enjoy open-instances where EVERYONE could go at times. Special Zones (very special, ie a reason to travel from 1 end to the other). It would be nice to see these created for a few special Epic Routes.

Arena style compat with progessively tougher opponents. PVE, PVP, or both. A target dummy that you could attack that would calculate your dps for you, more tavern games (yes, there are allready some tavern games. I imagine most folks don't know that), clothing/gear skinning or customization.
Question 2 - What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
7 - 9. Once you hit 10, it's all gianthold, necro slayer, and then your on to the vale.
Question 3 - What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
D&D feel, meaningfull combat system, lifelike motion (jumping/climbing), character build flexibility, in-game (non-ventrillo *gag* ) voicechat.
Question 4 - What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
malleable storyline rather than a fixed path, random encounters/dungeons, guild vs guild competition.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Gambling, but with actual graphics. The dice games of the Phoenix Tavern just have no substance.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9-12, very few in the range and you're still getting powerleveled by the capped characters. Takes far too long to find a group. Maybe a tweak to the powerleveling ranges is in order?
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Unique characters, from build to look to gear.
Team-oriented gameplay without the absolute requirement.
Active feel of combat.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Customization of models (client side only of course), In-game trade channels, and old-fashioned senseless comedy.

This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
I like being able to get something out of my non-questing activities. I like stuff. In particular, loot and experience types of stuff. Crafting is pretty good, but it has to be crafting where you can do it quickly and easily, such as experimenting with existing items and/or collectables, not grinding for ingredients.
But then, I usually just go run encounter area XP stuff or loot runs while I wait for groups to form, so I'm not sure I'd actually use such a system very much.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I would have to say levels 6-8. Levels 1-5 are really easy to work through, there's plenty to do up until level 6. Once you hit 9 you can raid. But 6-8 seems deficient in good content.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Number 1 is the dungeons and quests. Dungeons are quite well-designed, very interesting, 3-dimensional, and each is filled with its own unique twists and turns. Very few of them are outright boring.
I also like the active combat system. It feels almost like playing a FPS game. Moving, dodging, and weaving around enemies are all very easy and work very well.
One of the best elements of the game is the depth of character design. You can create characters that do whatever you want, using multiclass combinations and some of the overlapping capabilities to make very unconventional powerhouses.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
One thing that I think is missing from DDO that is present in some other games is really good tactical challenges. Places where the solution isn't just beatdown and nuke everything as fast as possible, but players actually have to come up with good, solid strategies. I'll admit this kind of challenge does appear now and then in DDO, but not as often as I'd like. Make encounters where there are built-in "safe spots" or hiding places for the players to use, or other features of the dungeon environment that players can take advantage of. Good tactical challenges make for some of the best challenges in all of gaming.
Another thing that I like is good cinematics. A few 30-second cinematics for the starts and/or ends of certain raids and quests would really enhance the story elements of DDO. I know it's not the most practical thing in an MMO, but how hard would it be to throw in a cinematic for the dragon's death or for disarming the bomb in the stormreaver? It would add a lot to the epic feel of the game.
Third, I really like games that mesh the storyline and gameplay together--where knowing elements of the storyline can be necessary to the players' successes. Things like a boss that can only be killed in a certain way, puzzles that have obscure solutions, or deadly traps that have to be disabled in non-conventional manners, all where the players learn the methods necessary to suceed through the storyline.

Customization of your characters appearance (hair,body,height,weight,armor/robe/docent,weapons,tatoos,scars,burns....etc.)
Question 2

9-11
Question 3

1. combat system
2. freedom of building your character as you want.(attributes, feats, skills, classes)
3. d and d backround
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1. the amazing grappling system on the nintendo 64s no mercy game and the japanese one from yukes....simply amazing customization. make almost any attack a knock out? yup! was sooo cool back in the day. (ddo could make a simplified customizable grapple system...maybe?)
2. the "wow" factor. ddo used to have it when i could stun and trip red named bosses:D. other games like dirt on xbox360 and rallisportchallenge2 on xbox have it. some fps's have it like call of duty 4 on xbox360.
3. double team/triple team/full party combo attacks if executed at the right time.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Normally check the auction for better gear, I would be interested in changing the color and style of my clothes. I also do Slayer in outdoor areas while waiting for a group to form.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I normally start my own groups so I can get the quests with the best xp or fill out some quests on hard for favor later. I would say that it starts to get hard around level 6 and 7, once you start getting some more hp and abilities at 8 and 9 you can fill out groups a little better, however finding a cleric around that level is hard, not many people want to spend the money that a cleric has to spend in order to not be a gimp cleric or just a cleric that everyone wants to get rid of. 10 to 12 is a bit hard as well, most people from what I notice on my server, Ghalldra or whatever it's called, try to hit the gianthold with a higher level party or form there own groups withen there level range, as in mostly level 10 and 11 characters. At level 13 I notice that you still are running a little gianthold tell about 14 to 15 when you start hitting the vale more. I notice people well group with a level 15 for a higher level quest but not so much with level 13 and 14.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
It's D&D in it's rulesets, it's stick and move type fighting, I like to be able to build a D&D character and not have to re-roll a new one because the DM wants to do a different quest line. I like the style of D&D compared to other MMO's, why do the numbers have to be so high, why do I have to have an 1800 def, why can't I just have an AC of 55.
For me it's all about the character in an MMO. How much does the environment change in an MMO? Almost never, it's rare. Mainly because of how much work goes into it. I mean what is that, 30 polygon mobs or so? And the texture detail to hide those lines in the mob's? That's got to take skill and work. But, characters can always change, you can reroll them, you can edit there feats, you can change the armor they wear and the weapons they use, plus they are a reflection of something I built. I imagine that when the developers built this game they said "That's a game that I helped build" or "that's a game that me and these guys over here built" it's a matter of pride that you take in the creation of something and watching it grow into something you can be proud of. For the developers it maybe how many people play there game and that's what they are proud of. For me, it's the character, it's my build and I built him my way and it's great when it turns out to work very well. However when the game changes to a point that the challenge is raised but the equipment is not, it makes things harder for that character. It used to be that my 40 AC on my TWF was enough, no longer, his 304 hp get sucked up so fast I don't think that atm he's very viable. So I'm making an effort to fix him, however it sucks worse because he's sort of the leader of my pack of toons sense he is the second oldest character and is a tank (well maybe not anymore), at least in my mind he is the leader. I know that's not the perfect in the box answer to your question and it's a bit of a read, sorry for that. Just felt that's the best way how to explain what I like about DDO and other MMO's like it.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
The ability to change clothes style and color.
The ability to fly, I almost always built a character that could fly in Shadowbane or a class that could fly.
The ability to build a fortress, maybe it's all the playing with blocks I did as a kid but something is nice about building your own place and knowing that it's your place that only people you know can go. (Well sometimes people would come in uninvited, but after camping out there tree for 3 days straight and killing them everytime they tried to log on, they didn't come around anymore. Sometimes 3 days of pain and soda can solve a year of trouble.)
(As a side note, I wish there was a way that the whole party could tell who has what turn in for a quest.)

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Maybe playing poker (using a D&D themed deck - so the Ace of Spades becomes the Ace of Dragons), between players with wagers of platinum, mana pots or stacks of Heal scrolls. But I'd rather be questing.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
It was 7-10 due to the rapid increase in difficulty of quests between levels 7 and 9. Now I'd say 7-12, although if you are twinked this is easy, but untwinked (i.e. for a first timer to those levels) it's messy.
Suggested solution: Reduce the powerlevelling penalties. Instead of 3 - 100%; 4 - 50%; 5 - 0%, perhaps give 3 - 100%; 4 - 75%; 5 - 35%; 6 - 0% a go.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1. Immense character versatility - for instance, a build with 15-16 levels of Cleric can be a healbot, an offensive caster, a melee, or a combination of two of the above, and all of those options are powerful enough to compete at endgame.
2. Integrated voice chat (now that I finally have a mic)
3. The normal/hard/elite system; particularly the way it relates to the Shroud.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
[b]1. Mithril golems (from D&D generally)
2. Large numbers of endgame quests, ala WoW
3. Can't think of anything

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc. Tavern games like cards, dice, etc. Oh and this feature would be sooo much better if you could actually sit in chair while doing it. ;)
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date? 6-10 Levels 1-5 are a breeze, but progressions seems to become very slow after you hit 6th imo, then seems to pick up again once you get into the 10+ level quests.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO? Roleplaying, Real time combat, and character customzation. By character customization I mean the ability to customize attributes. There seems to be an endless amount of ways to build a character. I currently have 4 rangers and all of them are very, very different characters. I really love that.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1. Image designers ala Star wars Galaxies. Its nice to change the way your character looks, even if its just a new hair cut.
2. Customizable armor ala Neverwinter nights. I spent hours crafting armors trying to get just the right look. If this feature was added I am quite sure my logged in time would double.
3. Wide open world to explore ala LotRo. I just loved exploring a virtual middle-earth and I am sure I would love to do the same with Eberron.

Which of the following do you prefer to play DDO with:
Standard Keyboard
Standard Mouse
"Gaming centric" keyboard (example: G-15)
"Gaming centric" or specialty mouse (example: trackball, weight cartridge, etc)
Game controllers (example: x-box)
Other (please specify)
Standard mouse, ancient keyboard (keyboard actually came with an old 386, but I love the feel and it still works flawlessly)
Question 2
What is your greatest in-game achievement?
My favorite achievements are always beating the new quests when nobody knows anything about them, even if there's a wipe along the way. I get really frustrated when a group abandons a new quest at the first bloody nose.
Question 3
Do you visit any DDO related fansites? If so, which is your favorite and why?
No.

Crafting. I'm opposed to adding mini-games. It can be difficult enough to get a group together without half the server sitting around playing poker.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
7-10 seem to be the slowest levels for me. The highest levels are frustrating because I rolled a fighter instead of a barbarian.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
I really like the combat, I like the loot system, I like character customization. (I also really like that you don't have to waste half an hour or more traveling to the quest).

No idea, really. All I can think of would most likely bore me pretty fast. I'd rather go play Mario Kart Wii :p

Gladiatorial events. Make an arena where PvPers come to duke it out while others can make make bets on who will win. Make it more formal where people can sign up and get squared off against others at their level.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9-12, its hard to find groups that will something other than Von runs.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Graphics - I like running a quest and just noticing the detail that was put into the walls, ceilings etc.
Puzzles - Some of the puzzles in the quests are a great challenge
D&D Feel - I think Turbine has managed to capture the feel exceptionally well.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Overall Story Line - Hate to bring up Star Wars Galaxies but they had something all characters could participate in when not running quests, the whole Civil War thing. If something like that could be implemented, oh boy!
Guild Halls - Something that would allow players to decorate/customize their meeting places. Would give players a much more personalized attachment to Stormreach.
Live Events - Random events with global messages. Like an army of kobolds is assembling the Cerulean Hills or the Hill Giants are rampaging through the marketplace.

Question 1
Which of the following do you prefer to play DDO with:
Standard Keyboard
Standard Mouse
"Gaming centric" keyboard (example: G-15)
"Gaming centric" or specialty mouse (example: trackball, weight cartridge, etc)
Game controllers (example: x-box)
Other (please specify)
I am disabled so use a keyboard with programmable buttons that is contoured to fit my hands better. I use a Logitech cordless optical mouse.
Question 2
What is your greatest in-game achievement?
Sort of a low one, but soloing the STK giant construct with a rogue using an admantium throwing dagger.
Question 3
Do you visit any DDO related fansites? If so, which is your favorite and why?
I visit http://www.ddocast.com/ regularly and sometimes listen to various episodes more than once. I receive pretty much all my DDO news from there. I am also part of the myspace group, but there is very little actual discussion of DDO taking place there anymore.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Perhaps some minigames of some sort. Gambling, crane games, the drinking game from LotRO, and stuff like that. The Zelda series is pretty good about side things like this and it would be interesting to see how side games along those same lines could be worked into an MMO environment.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
Seven through nine and possibly ten. I solo for the most part, and hitting level seven is like hitting a wall.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1 Jumping
2 The Combat System. If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't be here.
3 Thinking. I hear complaints about the AI, but it's some of the best AI in any MMO I have played.
4 Community. I know you asked for three, but this really is the best community in any MMO right now.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1 Pets. The robo-mutts are a nice addition, but I would love to have a companion for my rangers and upcoming druids that can always be out.
2 Quests scale to party size. I have yet to understand why go with instanced quests for the whole game and not have it take the size of a party into consideration alongside the difficulty setting. Well, I understand, but I think the game would have scaled to a much larger audience if such a feature were in place. The game fails to utilize what is perhaps one of the biggest benefits available for instanced quests.
3 No save points/rest shrines. This is minor, but many RPGs have gotten to the point where the player can save anywhere. This takes care of some minor inconveniences. I see rest shrines in the same light as those save points. A lot of games with save points let you camp at those points too which pretty much makes them rest shrines as well. I understand they are there because the game is using the D&D license, but there were already quite a few liberties taken to where the purists that refuse to try anything different are not playing. I personally prefer the model of regenerating over time and putting all the powers on a cooldown than having to use a shrine. Again, I realize that this echoes the D&D model, but I feel it's a bit old and better systems for recovery exists.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
A. Practice spells/moves/items in an arena with monster of choice similar to pvp ie no item dmg on death etc.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
2-5 is painful but its all good, I dont find it that hard to lvl up its just there are a lot of players with full char slots now and not many are taking their lowbies to L16 so its hard to find a group L5-13.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
A. 1. DND theme
2. Perpetual characters (dont have to start again when new content comes out)
3. Living software (is still being developed and is changing/growing all the time)
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
A. 1. Stats - things like Named monsters killed, Highest lvl monster killed, how many of each type of monster killed, favorite weapon, favotite spell, most dmg dealt with spell and weapon, age of character (ie creation date), number of character deaths.
2. Randomization - PnP DnD has a lot of random events that are possible based on a DM's roll, this game would greatly benefit from things like wandering monster and trap randomisation.
3. Change to first person view - It would be unreal to take a first person perspective and actually swing that sword or cast that spell.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
I love soloing the vale and orchard. More open, soloable (is that a real word?) areas. I do this all the time now while waiting for parties, guild activities, etc. It would be great if these areas were bigger and there were random encounters, not just the same ones all the time.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
9 and 10 is the worst for me.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1 - The combat system
2 - How close it is to the PnP experience I use to love
3 - The community. For the most part the players are great. DDO seems to have more of the best and brightest players / people in any game I've ever played. Much fewer mindless children.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1 - Character customization - in creation and along the way... look of toon and outfits.
2 - Pets - Pets that are more than those short term spells, and those silly iron defenders... more like familiars that will last a long time and give you more benefit, like adding to stats or skills or help you by protecting you more, tripping opponents, etc...
3 - More storyline / continuity. Things more connected, leading to cooler rewards if you follow a path and do things a certain way, etc.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
1. some sort of customizing place - haircut, dyeing clothes. etc.;
2. fishing, hunting in nearby areas for fun and profit;
3. an arena where we could try out new weapons, spells, techniques, etc. on various monsters.
4. mini quests for all levels, like the giant caves for when you only have a few minutes to "kill"
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
8-11 - finding groups can be hard, and not that much to do at these levels so it's harder to get XP
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
1. Love the combat system
2. Instanced quests and loot, cuts down on grief-ing
3. Some of the dungeons designs are downright great
4. Good group of people playing
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
1. Housing - Oblivion does it great and is very useful and would give something to do while waiting for groups to form; provides a unified area for all our personal characters to share un-bound items, gold, etc., provides area for crafting and all;
2. A "live" city - doors that open, even if it's just to a NPC having dinner, vendors actually at the stalls hawking their wares; dogs and kids running loose; weather that has an effect - puddles, lightning, occasional tornado, and all; beggars you can actually give money to; a wandering prospector, pirate, etc. with a treasure map or two for sale; posted notices of different short quests that get put up every week or so...
3. Randomization and non-linear solutions

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
There are not many non-quest activites other than beating up each in pvp. It would be nice to have a level of world interaction that you see in old rpg games like the Ultima series and even the online version, fallout, elder scrolls series, etc.
This is a static world that seems very dead.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
The level difficulty is dependent on your level and the level of the quest. I find the grinding for ingredients and quest items to very challenging and not very enjoyable.
I've ran many Gianthold, Shroud, and Orchard quests and I'm frustrated I have to run them many times over and over again to get an item or make to the raid. Grinding is the not the answer to giving people something to do.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Character customization with skills etc.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
World and NPC interaction. D&D is a living and breathing world, DDO is not.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Anything to basically improve the Role-playing aspect of the game. More detailed armors, including docents, more emote animations, etc.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I have to say level 5 to. . . I dunno. 10? The mid-range. 1 to 4 is a breeze, and with the LOAD of EXP at the high end, 11 - 16 is no sweat. But my glass ceiling is consistently 5 because there isn't too much variety being run, nor are there many good EXP quests there (that I've seen).
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Only 3? Bah. . . . Ok, um. . . The community. . . The lore of Eberron, and. . . I guess the combat system. But, come on. Only 3? I love the graphics, I love the DM voice-overs, I love the storyline and how detailed it is to every quest, I like how raids relate back to other raids, I like the challenge, I like-- *Gets pushed off the soapbox.* Hey! I've got one more to answer. . . *Gets back on.*
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
Hmm. . . This is tough for me, because DDO is really all I play. . . I like co-operation (Rock Band Quickplay), but that's pretty much already here. . . I like customization (Class-based RPGs), but that's already here. . . I dunno. That's really hard for me to answer.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
I'm really not a mini-game fan in most games that I play, so there are very few things outside of questing that I would realy feel that I like enough for me to still play DDO while not really playing DDO. Normally in groups when times were slow or the DM was dealing with other characters I'd be researching making new spells or items on my wizard, but that's kind of difficult to do in DDO. I think that maybe it would be nice just to be able to tinker with my character (i.e. how they look, having more fun with the biography section, etc).
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
I think the most trouble I have is once I get to level 5. This lasts until around level 7 or 8, maybe more now that the cap has increased, but it's been since about level cap 12 since I actually got a character past level 6 and still had fun doing it. It just seems like a really slow range to play through as the lower level quests on Hard/Elite can be extremely difficult and many level 5-7 quests aren't quite exciting (or involve Tangleroot). It seems to be the stopping point on many of my lower level characters.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
Quests. I like having small group instances that don't involve other players. It makes me feel like I'm actually in a group that is doing something that matters.
Character development. DDO gives players more choices when making and leveling characters than pretty much any other MMO out there. Outside of looks, it ends up giving each character a unique aspect when playing and can completely change party dynamics even when running the same quest.
Active combat. I've started to get a little bored with it as modules progress just because now everything has so many HP that even killing a simple monster takes forever and actually being able to dodge really doesn't work unless you're probably playing on the server and not on a client, but the active combat system still is much better than hitting a button and letting your character go swing away.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
True crafting. It was one of the main reasons why Wizards actually mean something in DnD. They could make magic items without having to sacrifice combat ability. The fact that any character can make a magic item takes that away, especially when compared with a Sorcerer that has more spell point, casts faster, and still normally has enough spell slots for any adventure they run.
Character and armor display changes. Sometimes you'd like for your character to adapt as you play in looks as well as ability. I think we'd also need more looks to really alllow us to look unique, even if some are unlocked as you play.
The Still Spell feat. I mean seriously. So simple, yet so wonderful to any battlecaster.

Question 1
What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
I'd like to be able to gamble vs other players with in game gold or magic items in virtual poker, and other card games, in the bar. It would be cool if DDO could develop a simple virtual collectable card game analagous to magic the gathering based on the Dragon Mark Houses or Gods or other lore of Eberron for play in the taverns.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
My first character was probably level 11 before I joined a guild. This was before the server merge. It seemed like it was almost impossible to find PUGS for levels 8 - 10 @ that time and of course soloing @ that level without twinked out gear was extremely difficult (the xp death penalty hurt quite a bit because I was always trying content that was new for me and hence suffering massive death penalties). I now play in both a larger guild and a small static group and haven't experienced the same pain advancing through 10th level with my other characters.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
* DM Narration adds so much flavor
* The focus on group play - viva la voice chat
* The fact that I don't have to run 15 minutes every time I want to get to a quest and that I actually have a quest to go to not just a cave where I kill 10 rats to collect thei tails.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
* I liked that in Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time you could actually play songs, by pushing buttons on your controller, sometimes just for creative amusement; sometimes with a sense discovery unlocking a magical song with ingame effects. Being able to play music in the game, even if other players could squelch it, would be a fun feature.
*Intellivision had a game back in the early 80s that was a simple stick figure hockey game. What made it so cool was that the referees were inconsistant with penalties - just like real sports. I could trip and high stick my friend and talk trash and bait him into retaliating - odds were the ref would whistle the penalty on him and he would get 2 minutes in the box. The misapplication of justice; it was the best thing ever. I'm not sure how this would link to DDO but that game mechanic made me so happy. If ever DDO adds some sort of "sport" event like troll ball or dwarf tossing make sure the rules are inconsistently enforced. It is fun to take cheap shots and sometimes get away with it!
* Do you remember the game Die By the Sword where you actually controlled the stroke of the protagonists sword and sword arm with the mouse. You could have a sword fight while swinging upside down while your foot is caught in a rope trap. Now that game felt like what I imagined Dungeons and Dragons combat to be! None of this zerg through row after row of monsters with 3 second kills. Fights vs. 3 opponents at a time were tough, involved lots of bleeding and circling and felt more like a boxing match than a speed bump. One of the many things l liked in this game was that you could put on the shamans mask and suddenly you were disguised as a pig faced orc who could infiltrate the complex largely ignored by the other orcs. DDO offers stealth and invisibility but it doesn't offer disguise. There should be more opportunities to defeat our foes by tricking them with deception. Revisit Bluff and Diplomacy skills; align them closer to pen and paper and create opportunities for out thinking opponents.

Answer 1 - burgling stormreach houses with my rogue? I suspect it's not very D&D but I would not mind running some flavor 'quests' that didn't revolve around fighting but did carry one or two or three of the story lines within the city. I guess that's some story telling within the mechanics of the game. It's not a very repeat-play-able idea though (repeatability being what MMOs need to provide as we spend so much more time playing than we should). Sort of like the 'making a name' story arc in the harbor.
Answer 2 - I have touble in the middle levels - now that stretches from about 7 to 13 or so. I think this is because I pug a lot and often don't feel like creating a group (or confident that I can lead a group through a quest).
Answer 3 - in no particular order ... dynamic and twitchy combat system, mutability of character capabilities (point buy system at creation, skill points, enhancements, items), and general look and feel of the place (especially since getting my new PC).
Question 4 - High end quests which aren't raid related. It seems to me that everything in the vale is oriented towards providing crafting ingredients. Giant hold quests are mostly all about getting enough bits to satisfy the giant so that we can kill some more giants. [the second and third sentences were in support of my first ;)]

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Almost everybody is going to say some method of generating revenue but I'll go against the grain and say that I'd like to see some kind of reference library and/or hall of records added to help "flesh out" the game.
The reference library would be available for us to learn more about the people/places/things/monsters of Eberron/Stormreach and as new monsters or areas are added to the game the reference library would be updated.
The hall of records area would:
- Keep track of a server's character/guild census. This could be used for example to see which character names were in use making character naming a whole lot faster than the shot-in-the-dark method we have now.
- Maintain a server's hall of fame for quest record scores/times. It'd add server wide recognition of accomplishments and add a competitive element to the game.
Question 2
What do you feel is the most difficult level range to play to date?
10-13. Unless you're running Giant Hold content ad nauseam the loot and XP payoff for most non-raid quests in this range are mediocre.
Question 3
What are 3 of your favorite things about DDO?
- Voice chat sets it apart from other games.
- Game interface is flexible and easy to work with.
- DDO has a really good real time combat system. Sure there are some AI issues but in general the combat system works very well.
Question 4
What are 3 things that are your favorite in gaming, but are not in DDO?
- Character look customization after creation. We need a Stormreach barbershop and tattoo parlor. :)
- Solo quests. Sometimes you don't feel like logging on and waiting for the right groups to be made so there should be more solo stuff. DDO's latest take solo quests are merely gimped regular quests which really isn't what a solo quest should be about. I'd love to see some higher level solo quests eventually added; maybe some class specific ones too.
- DDO is sorely lacking a method that punishes or rewards a character based on moral choices that they make. All the really good recent RPG's had some way that measured a character's decisions in this manner. It would give DDO an added sense of dynamics if you could do "evil" things in quests and it would affect not only the outcome of a quest but how some groups treated you outside the quest environment. A roleplaying game should let you actually do some roleplaying and not just kill virtual monsters.

What is a non-questing activity you would be interested in? For the purpose of this question, "non-questing activity" is defined as any fun activity you can do while you are waiting to form a group, between quests, not in the mood to run a quest, etc.
Normally I am selling, repairing, restocking between running quests. Not big into crafting, Do not really go in for PvP so not a whole lot that I can think of to pass time if I am waiting for group. Generally if I do not find a group quickly, I either start one or go run something solo.

2. Combat System
3. D&D Basis

Comparing DDO to other MMOs or Other games in general?
If I use Other games in general then against NWN2:
1. More Races (Shifters (not in NWN2 but are in Eberron), Half Elves, etc.)
2. More Classes (Druids, Warlocks, etc.)
3. Real Prestige Classes
