They're here again, and in force. The forums are a hodge-podge of arguments, talk of exploits, and many Marketplace forums are virtually dead.

It seems to be a recurring pattern, I watch as guildies get bored and play less and less. Many people are bored of the Shroud, and the primary nightly activity seems to be knocking out raids for completions. The more optimistic players roll a new character, replaying all the old content in a new way. The less optimistic or more frustrated players quit the game, or take a temporary leave. Nothing wrong with that, people, of course, have to do what they feel they must.

Is there anything we, as a community, can do to "freshen the air?" Post your ideas and discuss freely :) No flamewars, plz, and no exploit debates!!!

This is not meant as a DOOM post, I think when Mod 7 hits things will liven up quite a bit. Monk discussions will flow freely, and the game will be busy with monk powerleveling. I think things will be just fine.

I haven't got there yet. I am a casual player, so even after a year I still haven't been through all the content. But I do think I have a possible answer, but it is a Dev solution, not a community one. Give us more character slots. At least then, the "optimistic" players can explore the same (and in my opinion, abundant) content again from a new angle.

I agree, I am getting quite bored myself. Was just looking into some other MMO's but I REALLY don't know if I want to start somewhere else from scratch.

I don't know. I've been playing for a WHILE now and I have never gotten bored...until very recently. I've tried everything the game has to offer. I've got basically one of every class type to level 14+ and there seems to be less fire in my belly right now when i play my couple of lowbees...monks best blow me away.

All I have right now is my dear friends I group with nightly...they are why I am still here.

As for something different, a nekked Tempest Spine runs kinda fun...3-4 manning the Tor...undermanning quests/raids many levels above our level(4th & 5th lvls through a Hard Co6 is great fun) and there is always guild frag tourneys both PvP and "kobold assault fraggin".

But yeah...guilds have to be creative now to keep interest up...and its just gonna get tougher with new content getting spread thinner and thinner.

I was reading a post yesterday (or day before) from a member that is in this exact position. He has started rolling not so popular cross classes and having some fun with them as a new experience to the game. I, like the above poster, am pretty new and have lots of content to go through still, on four different toons, so it will be a while until I am introduced to the 'the grind'. Just try a new combo toon for some fun and see how far you can get with him/her until the new mod is released.

Another great idea is to roll a new toon and go hang in the harbour offering your services to noobs. You can help introduce them to the game and help them along with their progress. Call it an apprenticeship if you will.

I also agree that the devs should give more toon slots.

I've noticed there seem to be fewer raid pugs available (which is about the only way I get to do raids). That may be for a variety of reasons but I think you've nailed it with your observation, Asp. As a guy who runs a month or two behind the bow wave (a time playing the game thing, I'm sure) there's still plenty of fun to be had in the shroud before it becomes boring. That being said I see how it could become that way for some...an easy fix...just recruit me for the adventure and I'm sure to do something requiring you to exercise some mental agility rather than run the quest mechanically!!!:p

I have to highly agree with this idea. This USED to be what I always did when high end content was starting to wear - roll someone new. Not having any slots anymore, though, leaves me with no real options but to be bored and play less :(

I think the Mid-Mod Blues is an excellent example of why the mini-updates they used to do before Mod 5 were a good idea. Just little nudges of content outside of the major Mods to keep things fresh.

It might be time for a May Dodge-a-thon contest. I'll have to see what my schedule will allow me to do.

Yea, I probably would take a break about now, or a couple weeks ago until the new mod came out, but I very much enjoy the people I always run with (guildies). For me they make it worth while to keep playing.

You can always try another server. There is something fun about having to use all the stuff you find and not being able to pass yourself gold/items/ and the like. Plus you may run into some interesting new characters.

I am still and advocate of putting in more crafting receipies and putting those ingredients in "off the path" quests so that you are somewhat forced to repeat older content and tr to enjoy your run though random quest A. Loot is one of those things that keeps all players interested, so maybe some new weapon types/abilities/etc. would help.

yes, you're right... they should just shut down the forums until the next module is released.

Live events would be a really good way to at least keep people interested in whats going on.

The anticipation and build up for the destruction of the marketplace was one of the coolest things that has happened in this game.

The dev team should try to create some live events that revolve around the next mod. For instance, how cool would it be for them to hold a live event where they unveil a new Monestary where the high level monk trainer will live. Or to stage an attack from evil Monks so we actually get to fight them in combat before we get to play one.

I'd logon just to check it out and I bet the forums would be loaded with "did you notice" and "could you believe" posts instead of the nerf/exploit/doom posts that are so typicall these days.

I have plenty of people to run with, there is simply not much I am interested in running at this point.

I have loot run in the vale to death.

I resorted to running for ring's of feathers in STK on my sorc last week due to being shrouded out.

I have done all the raids this week ad nausem.

I have keyed other people so they could raid more.

I am even resorting to actually stepping inside the abbott for FUN!

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Good thread.

See ya in Stormreach,

Is there anything we, as a community, can do to "freshen the air?"

Are you sure you want to do that? That quest is just horrible.

Not really, TF does just as little as everybody else. Note how on Sundays we fill the Shroud parties with half PUGs?

and honestly Rams, I'm getting sick of the comments. If you have something to say, tell it to me in PMs.

Pretty much, this happens in almost all MMO's. It's just part of the MMO lifecycle.

We should all unite and gather in front of the Abbot in protest doing nothing else until its fixed. The fact that the abbot is unplayable is the biggest issue for me right now as its the second newest raid id probably be running it along with the shroud and not be entirely burned out on only running shroud.

Not worth the time!

At least we'll have 2 more raids with Mod 7.

I am so bored I have not logged in for 4 days........

I am thinking of "taking a break" from game unless something changes.

I am also depressed that of the two items I want from titan on my clerics on their 20th run I was offered neither (boots or belt)

So maybe a break is in order until Mod 8 comes out, I mean yeah there will be new content when 7 comes out, but no new level cap and I doubt I will see any loot that my cleric will be like, oh I gotta have that.

yeah, I think it's mainly from the inability for the devs to offer up any really appealing shroud loot that outweighs the grind for it. or anything else as a metagame for really hardcore players.

don't get me wrong, I have built like 5 tier 3 items now but I'm sick of grinding for large ingredients... I don't mind doing it with guildies but I do pugs very, very sparsely now. if there was a way to teleport straight to part 4 or 5, I would definitely be in there more often though. I think it's easier to go do a raid 50 times in the hope that you get your titan gloves/dragon sword/etc etc. than acquire all the ingredients and whatnot. it's more of a feeling than anything... possibly that potential to get that pull/hope?

crafting though is what I'm really waiting for, as a side game to the capped metagame that occurs now: pvp (1% of my time), raids (95%), looting or re-keying dq/dragon. if they had something else like favor titles or something, I would grind that as well, I'd love to have like "master kobold killer" for 5000 kobolds killed in ww :D

i'm done with lowbies for the most part, it's another mouth to feed and nothing really interests me except monk and maybe rogue, but I'm saving that one for later.

To freshen up the game, my brother and I have taken to duoing almost all the content that can be duoed. It's been great, but I have to warn everyone that afterawhile, you will *hate* pugs. Absolutely loathe them ... other than that, it's been great :) hehehe!

I say "loathe" because my bro and I practice some basic techniques. First, we buff. It's to the point that now I fight the urge to buff my sorc when crossing the marketplace :) PUGs of which I've been a member usually forget simple things like this, even if I badger them. Strange! The second complaint is tactics ... not enough room for my displeasure here ;)
