I’ve seen a lot of excitement over Dwarven, Warforged, and Halfling monks, but I think these characters are going to be seriously gimped compared to Humans. One of the developers (I won’t mention a name) let it out of the bag. Human monks will have extra feet!!!

Think about all the extra attacks. This could mean 2 extra kicks a round. At level 16, that could easily translate to 5 base (with Divine Power Clickie) + 1 haste + 1 flurry of blows + 1 greater flurry + 2 feet. That’s 10 attacks a round, not including any additional speed boosts (monk attack speed boost?).

32-point Human Monk

Stength 14
Dexterity 16 + 5 level + 2 Monk Dex + 1 human adaptability = 24 + item
Constitution 14
Intelligence 8
Wisdom 16 + 3 Monk Wis + 1 human adaptability + 2 favor tome = 22 + item
Charisma 8

Monk 1 Dodge, Mobility, Flurry of Blows, Unarmed Strike, Stunning Fist

Monk 2 Evasion, Deflect Arrows

Monk 3 Weapon Finesse, Still Mind

Monk 4 Ki Strike (Magic), Slow Fall 20 ft

Monk 5 Purity of Body, +1 AC

Monk 6 Spring Attack, Slow Fall 30 ft, Improved Trip

Monk 7 Wholeness of Body

Monk 8 Slow Fall 40ft

Monk 9 Two Weapon Fighting, Improved Evasion

Monk 10 Ki Strike (Lawful), Slow Fall 50 ft, +2 AC

Monk 11 Dialmond Body, Greater Flurry

Monk 12 Improved Critical: Slashing, Abundant Step, Slow Fall 60 ft

Monk 13 Diamond Soul

Monk 14 Slow Fall 70 ft

Monk 15 Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Quivering Palm, +3 AC

Monk 16 Ki Strike (Adamantine), Slow Fall 80 ft

Monk 17 Timeless Body, Tongue of the Sun and Moon

Monk 18 Greater Two Weapon Fighting, Slow Fall 90 ft

Monk 19 Empty Body

Monk 20 Perfect Self, Slow Fall >90 ft, +4 AC

Human monks will have access to human versatility enhancements. Human monks will be able to boost two of their attribute stats. Human monks will be able to be healed better with improved recovery. I'm just speculating here, but I think human monks will also run faster.

we will have to wait and see, but i find it interesting that your 'developer' said humans will get extra feet.

doesnt that sound extremly similar to humans get an extra feat ?

maybe some misunderstanding going on here.

If this had been the first of april this might have been a bit funny, but as is gives me a mild chuckle, I hope you are joking but seriously I dont think the one extra feat humans get is much of an advantage when it comes to playing a monk umm why would a human monk run any faster then any other race, and besides from what they have shown us these monks arent really much like pnp monks so what they get per level is really just guessing.

Well now, I wasn't too excited about Monks at first, but now, after hearing that human Monks will have three or four feet, I'm excited!

I can't wait to get my first screenshot of a four-legged human Monk hanging out in the Marketplace! Their running animation is prolly going to be sooooooooo kewl!

Nice you have no idea how they will even be implemented, what will be avaible to them, but you are sure they will be the stongest of all. LMAO

I am sure he has to be joking but I think some people will be surprised by the monks whether that is pleasntly or not so remains to be seen but we know with their speical magic bar and elemental enhancements they really wont be like pnp monks

Ok, that would mean new graphics but my question is just extra feet or how far up do the extras extend? Do they have extra shins and knees so they can articulate two kicks or is it just a double kick from the ankle? does each one get a separate crit roll or they share the attack? If they actually got three or four legs they should be more stable alos and have a great balance bonus. Will they have a new graphic for the 100 hands attack also?

A few questions...

1). Does this equate to extra strikes while kicking, similar to "Flurry of Fists" (flurry of feet)?

2). I would think that an astronomical DEX would be required, if only to keep from falling over your own feet...

Seriously, to the OP... Any build that relies on Tomes to be a success is, in my opinion, about as far from "uber" as you can get.:D

And, with extra legs, they won't need mounts!!! :D:D:D

Will the general vendors start selling odor eaters too? Its bad enough with the dorfs around. Now we'll have humans with extra feet!

Excellent movie, BTW!!! Also, "Shaolin Soccer" has the same star and is also funny as H*ll, in a different way. :D

I congratulate those who had the discipline of will not to make a "third leg" joke on this thread.

Better than I, that's for sure.

Once again, the halflings get no love. I expect at least a bonus pair of toes or maybe an extra joint under the knee.

I would just like to point out that no one said anything about extra legs. Extra feet could very well be a disadvantage! What if you have feet instead of hands? Or worse yet... feet instead of ears!

Feet instead of hands would be a good feat!!! You keep them in your pockets until battle and let the "phew" points build... When you attack, even if you miss, you have a real good chance of getting a "whiff" bonus... :D:D:D

Stinking cloud FTW!

No, that's when you actually land a hit and some wipes off on your opponent. Damage similar to "Burning Blood", but more like napalm. :D
