The thing I'm getting sick of is the three threads concerning scroll use. Did everyone get together last night and make scroll use the new nerf topic? Do we really need three threads on the subject?

Personally i think anyone logging in to the game is exploiting because of the bug in the Wavecrest Tavern quest. Do you know that the roof never falls down no matter how slow you are? The DM text clearly says everything is colapsing and I think if you don't kill the guy and get out in 30 seconds or less it should all fall on you and you should need to start again.

Also the whole death penalty thing is bugged. You are supposed to lose a level (or a con point if you are L1) every time you die and are successfully raised (except by True Res of course). I mean I've been in some shroud 2 runs that went wrong (or Ghosts when it was new) where people should have been L8 by the time the quest was over. Clear exploit!

I was sitting here at work the other day, and the whole "E" word came up...

I thought, there are some really ticked off people and some people are really cheaters..

And then, after days of looking at the "E" list growing and growing...until
I was afraid I was a bad girl(/slap pay attention!)
And that I was part of the problem..

i figure, if they arent doing something that makes them WIN every time the enter a quest...

If they aren't playing in god mode...

if they arent buying plat/stealing accounts/finishing raids in under 15 minutes...let em play their way.

I was in this quest once, and we exploited it by running past everything without fighting and we got an incidious cunning bonus for cheating!!!! And the cleric used a wand!!! A Wand!!!!! Just to be lazy and not use his spell points!!!! There was a low level player who had a good weapon his other higher level character gave him!!!! We didn't have a rogue so we jumped over a trap!!!!! One player even used his memory of having done the quest before so we knew what to expect!!!! And, I hate to admit it, but I used my UMD skill to overcome the level and class restriction on a scroll - right in front of everyone!!!! It was an orgy of sin and exploitation!!! I remeber this other time - we were all hitting this golem and he was kicking our asses, but then someone had the genius idea of just exploiting it with adamantine weapons - and holy **** we just whooped the snot out of him!!! I've seen a similar exploit using bludgeoning weapons against skeletons too!!!! This game is just one giant exploit if your the kind of disreputable player who would keep an adamantine weapon around just to hit golems with.

Get over it people - not everything is an exploit. There are different ways of doing a lot of quests well within the rules and "as designed". I think that people just found out that they can use the word exploit in a post so now everything is an exploit.

It's making me paranoid.

I go around thinking, "is this an exploit"?

I mean, I'm in Co6 ranging an altar. Am I exploiting? Dunno.

Or, I'm in one of the GH quests, I throw a fireball at the door, all the trolls in the room jump in the lava and die. Did I exploit? Dunno. Hope not, because I am too weak to bash down the door, but if I want to finish the quest, I HAVE to go through the door.

Or, I'm in Rainbow in the dark, and I increase my gain so I can see. Is this an exploit? Dunno. Maybe it's just the equivalent of your night vision adjusting to the low light, maybe not.

My problem is I don't know what's an exploit and what isn't.

Orchard raid doesn't have a timer? Didn't matter to me, never ran it. But if I had, I would have just thought that the Dev's made a different type of raid, one with no timer.

I suppose I have a blind spot. I think, if I'm playing the game, it's the way it should be. I don't think things are "exploits", just that this is the world, I'm adventuring in it, and that's that.

For example, If I'm running through a quest, and I find a hole I can jump through that shortens the quest by 2/3, well, woo hoo for me. It's the world I live in, I'm in a cave, there's a hole in the wall, I'm going to go through it and see where it leads. If the Gods (Devs) decide "thou shalt have no hole in the wall", and fill it in, oh well, I'll adapt.

The thing that's REALLY tough about it is all the video games I've played, with BUILT-IN shortcuts or cheats, that you are SUPPOSED to find, so you get TRAINED to look for them. Now, in DDO, you get BANNED for following your training.

IMO, an exploit is going into the coding or using third party software (or Dev codes) to give yourself an unfair advantage from outside the game. If you are RP'ing INSIDE the game, then NOTHING is an exploit, as you are just living in the world as you find it.

The one exception I know of was the Mod5 LotD exploit. If you complete the quest once, then repeat looting the chest at the end until you ransack and bring in all your other toons and hit the chest until you ransack without repeating the quest just because you can put a toon in a spot to hold things open then run to the end and keep opening the chest - well the people who were doing this knew they were cheating and I would have loved to see them all banned permanantly or at an absolute minimum take away their ill-gotten loots. I don't think any of this happened and the servers are still polluted with iligitimate skivvers - I have no respect for anything those players may have ever accomplished - if you're running around with cheated Mod5 Tome loot shame on you. I gave up on all that loot before they fixed the exploit because I was not going to cheat nor was i going to spend months earning items that all the cheaters are already walking around with (and bragging about).

As of now though I don't know of anything you can do in game that I would consider a serious exploit, although I don't know everything that's going on either...

In fact...I exploit the roof not caving in by using the shrine after killing the named..
