I just got a new pc with vista on it. I've tried installing DDO a number of different ways: 1) DL'ing the client from the DDO website. 2) Moving files from old pc, onto a removable hard drive to my new one. 3) reinstalling a couple of different times because I'm getting the same two error messages when running the DDO Set up wizard;

First file path error - C:/Program Files/Dungeons and Dragons Online/Stormreach/Turbine Invoker. Then the following message;
An error occured while trying to replace the existing file: Delete File Failed; Code 5 Access is denied
Second file path error - C:/Program Files/Dungeons and Dragons Online/Stormreach/GameuxInstall Helper.dll With the same error message: An error occured while trying to replace the existing file: Delete File Failed; Code 5 Access is denied
I have managed to get into the game once after setting admin rights on the standard user and changing the permissions on the 3 files mentioned in the forums (TurbineLauncer.exe, TurbineInvoker.exe, DNDClient.exe) But today I can't seem to get back into the game. A short cut never made it onto my desktop to launch the game. This is after I went thru all the hell of switching the admin permissions and what not. What the heck is a guy to do in order to play the game he's paying for?

Thanks for any idea into my headache.

Also, I get 3 options with these error messages. 1) retry 2) ignore (not recomended) 3) abort/cancel

I've had to hit ignore every time because I'd still be here hiting retry if I continued down that path. So after the wizard finishes I get a DDO icon but the pc stays on the initial dragon splash screen and doesn't put me to the login screen.
Then the next critical error pops up: Unable to execute file: C:\Program Files\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons online\Stormreach\dndlauncher2.url ShellExecutefile failed Code 2

After that I get the same "you cant run this program admin blah blah blah.

What next coach?

I'm not running vista, so I can't actually give you any REAL help. But I'll try and fake it anyway...

Have you read the stickied thread "Mod 6 vista launcher information" thread? There have been a few people discussing different problems there.

One of the more common fixes I'm seeing people recommend is putting the game files somewhere other than the "program files" directory. It seems Vista does some things in that directory that doesn't play well with others....

After you have patched up to full, you should uncheck the "Run as Admin" option for TurbineLauncher.exe and TurbineInvoker.exe

The reason you had to set those at first was so the client could update to the newest launcher. The newest launcher should handle the admin privileges.
