Not a particularly beautiful synergy, but has anyone tried a ranger 6 and either pally 9 or cleric 6 build to get a bladesworn with tempest going? Maybe a docent of quickening just to make things sickening.

Just a random thought whilst at work.

tempest is only for dual wielding. Could do this with the longsword enhancement though but that seems pointless. Might as well go pure ranger. Throw in 1 rogue to make a killer trapper for utility if you like as well.

I tried that WF 6 cleric/ fighter X........ maybe it was how he was built or maybe it was the 20 sec use with 10 min timer bladesworn enhancement.

It felt terrible gimmicky............ a 1 trick pony that never performed when u wanted him to. Was very disappointing.

Again...... it could have been the way I built him.

kr8ztwin - Bladesworn step two man...forget about the greatsword plus.

From ddo.enterwiki.net (http://ddo.enterwiki.net/page/Paladin_enhancements)
You have a +4 profane bonus to Strength, a +4 natural armor bonus to AC, a +4 profane bonus on damage rolls, and proficiency in all simple and martial weapons. Your base attack bonus equals your character level. You have lost your spellcasting ability. You have immunity to critical hits and sneak attacks, but cannot be healed by healing spells.

And sigtrent just posted a tempest paladin build, so I jumped the gun by a few days. :D

Not to mention, it's now a minute long click. But I can see where the gimmicky would come in. (once every ten minutes is on the order of "save it for the red names" )

You'd also really want a wizzy with reconstruct in the group. Fun for guild groups, maybe not so much for PUGs.

Thanks folks.

I don't know the specifics on Bladesworn, so it's hard to give advice.

But I'm working on a WF multi-classed build with Clr 7.

Clr7 give Divine Power and most of the common cure spells everyone asks for.....plus decent chance to use raise dead scrolls.

Rgr9/Clr7 maybe?

need to make sure Bladesworn will work with the TWF you seem to want.

Your Pal9/Rgr6 seems ok....not sure what to do with the last lvl though. Maybe Wiz1? Repair wands, flame arrow wands, stoneskin wands........extend spell feat......2 min shield spell. (actually I like this build :) )

I did not complete the build with the enhancments, but I have been toying around with a few varieties of the WF Ranger Pally myself. Think I heard that paladins are getting the faith second tier at 6 like Clerics now. If I'm completely mistaken I have a 10 pally/6 ranger option as well. Yeah I went bludgeon, but that is easily changed. I just liked the idea of tenderizer in one hand and then super smiting with a warhammer when they get stunned.

The Faith lines are being changed (unless that changed again) so that you'll only need Pally 6 to get second tier

So I could see an eventual Ranger 12/Pally6/Rogue or Fighter 2(for the Haste Boost)

Thanks I was thinking I might have imagined that.

Thought about bladesworn II - it looks like a rage, smells like a rage, heck it is a rage...with a ****ing armor boost on it.

Maybe cleric 6 (or 7, as muirtach proposes), and a buncha barb on top of it? Lose spellcasting most of the time, but can do some self buffing before and healing between rages.

Ick - add in new exalted smites, and the potential to get the holy 'sword' spell going after level cap goes up, for another multiplier to crits on a holy burst weapon. I so need an evil grin smiley.

I know right?

I've been toying with some fun Paladin builds of late, like the assassin/paladin (works great in Eberron themes.) and a few others.

I've been toying with some fun Paladin builds of late, like the assassin/paladin (works great in Eberron themes.) and a few others.

Completely aside from where I was first going with this:
Let me see here -
Pick for x4 multiplier
Exalted smite III for another x2
Holy "sword" spell - another x1, not to mention holy burst cold iron/byeshk/silver and a +5 enhancement

So that's a x7 holy burst weapon. On a level 14 pally.

assuming a modest 28 str, and that smite damage gets multiplied for crits
( 1d6 weap + 5 enhancement + 9 str + 6 seeker from a bloodstone + smite damage of 10+(3*(level-1)) ) x 7 + 8d6holy
3.5 av dam per d6, level 14 is 49 smite damage
(3.5 + 5 + 9 + 6 + 49) x 7 + 28
72.5 x 7 +28
535.5 per critted smite.

If your'e in bladesworn mode at that point, and exalted smites don't count as a 'spell', you can add 4 profane + 2 more from strength: 42 more damage. Meh. I can't believe I said meh to an extra 42 points of damage.

On a khopesh, that would be about 463 damage per smite, on a range of 16-20 (i'm assuming exalted smite crit range bonus goes on after the range is doubled by IP:whatever, if it goes on first, ye gods. Rapier crit range). Methinks the people whining about the lack of "Pally Love" should learn to do math. That's a good clean 100 points per smite, with a chance for the neighborhood of 500 25% of the time.

And extra smite 4 + 4 base smites = 8 smites per 90 seconds, or an effective 11.25 second cooldown. I'd say not bad for an essentially 10 second cooldown ability.

Yeah you can smite while bladesworn. I had a pick using wf pally a while back and both bladesworn and LoH word together as well.

The problem is that each smite doesn't have its own cool down. If you use one then wait 58 seconds and use the next the timer for all of them resets, you don't get that first one back 2 seconds later.
