View Full Version : Truth or Myth?: Pit Fiend hit points in part 5

There has been a rumor going in every party I have grouped with lately about the Pit Fiend's hit points in Part 5 of the Shroud raid increasing as time progresses (while he is "basking" in the eclipse).

In other words, the longer it takes to take out his four cronnies, the more hit points he gains (meaning a tougher battle mono on mono with him). Other items in this part are time based (pools disappearing, blade portals showing up, etc), making the raid tougher as time goes by, so this "rumor" seems like it might have some validity.

Anyone know for sure? A guild maybe that always uses the same group doing roughly the same amount of damage each time? Does he go down faster if the four bosses are taken out of the picture quickly or does it really matter - he goes down in the same amount of time regardless?

Its systematically Immpossible to calculate his exact hit points, and very rarly is it easy to exactly duplicate a Partys DPS, but Its been my Observation that he dos indeed generate more HP's the longer he basks inthe Eclipse.

That would be fantastic game design.

Haven't seen evidence one way or the other.

It would certainly be our just desserts.. what with all the kiting and shield blocking and what not going on with the lieutenants.

Unfortunately it's hard to judge from observing standard runs, because the same factor influences both the input and outcome of the experiment. More powerful groups with high DPS will defeat the lieutenants faster (and need to spend less time recharging), but they'll also hurt Arraetrikos faster, making his final hipoints seem lower.

So even if the "basking" time doesn't increase his hitpoints, you'd expect to see him killed faster if he was given less time.

I'm told that the pools dry up based on how many times a player character has stepped in them Arraetrikos was triggered, not by a set amount of time.

Definetely not.

Or if he does its so insignificant that it doesn't matter.

I've done several runs lately where we just killed all the 4 luitenants in under 2 minuits and went straight to fight him, killing him in about 5 minuits..

Or many other runs where we leave 1 alive for like 10min while someone afks and ppl fool around, etc.. Then kill him in a 5min again.

Doesn't make any noticeable difference. For a very high dps group you can tell what kind of dps your doing before his bar noticeable moves.. For a low one its harder to calculate.
