View Full Version : So what happened at the AH last night?

I thought that maybe someone with more "DDO expertise" could help me with a problem I ran into last night on the AH.

I was bidding on a Mithril Breastplate. There was another bidding also, so it was the old bid/outbid/run to the mailbox kind of thing. There was less than an hour left and then the following occured

I got the "Bid that you are making is too small" message.

The item was currently at 479K gold (47.9K plat) and I had a bank roll of over 61K plat. I got the bid window to confirm but everytime I tried this I got the message that my bid was too small.

I thought that maybe the item had sold and the AH hadn't updated this so I logged out, looked at other AH items, closed the program and opened it again -- and during all of these the breastplate was still showing.

Any clues as to what was happening here? Thanks

The AH is buggy...very buggy...

Often that problem can be avoided by adding a few plat... so if the next bid should be 64390 then just bid 64500 and it seems to notice you are bidding enough.

Other times it seems that your client hasn't kept up with the last bid (actually that may be related to the solution above...). search any other catagory, then research what you really want and somtimes the price will have updated.

I have had this occasionally happen to me as well. Most likely the item was won while the other bidder had high bid. Some times I have seen items that go through this type of bid war takes a good amount of time before they dissappear off the AH. Have seen one item stay up for like 15 -20 mins after it would no longer let me bid on the item. Not sure why that is but my bet is that is what happened to you.

Agreed, sometimes the autoincrement on the rebid option does not register. Just manually enter a slightly higher bid and many times it will take.

Thank you. Just thought I was losing it last night.

Were you bidding from the "My Bids" tab or the regular search area? I have found that just rebidding from the regular search area does the trick. Do not bid on stuff from the "My Bids" tab until they fix this annoying bug.

the bid calculation has a rounding error. It creates a bid that is a gold piece too low for the bid validator to accept. Just increment your bid by a gp or two and resubmit. (This assumes that you are bidding from the auction listing page, the Bids listing page is truly borked on its rebid option)

This however is not always the case. The times I was talking about before I would up the bid by 1 - 2 kpp and it would still say your bid is to low. There have been instances when the AH does not update like it should after the auction for a particular item has finished. Have personally seen one of my items get bought out, I run and get the money come back and update the listings and still seen that same item still in the list.

I've generally been having to go back to the auction house listing and find the item there to rebid on it. As someone else said, it is a known issue that's supposed to be fixed in the next mod.

What is "AH"? Other then something general proceeded or followed by an "OOoooh" I really don't know.
