Alright so I made a dwarven battlecleric a long time ago, and Ive been playing him again recently. I made him as one of my first toons, being the noob that we all once were, I made a mistake(atleast at what I thought it was before recently) of taking exotic weapon proficiency: dwarven axes at level 3. I got my fighter level at level 4. I didn't realize it, but what Ive been thinking about lately was that, technically should I be getting that feat because I took a fighter level, regardless that it was not my first level? Ive been thinking and thinking about this for a long time, and decided to redo my feats, and switch the dwarven axe feat out for toughness, my battlecleric badly needed some hp. Turns out you do not get that feat when you take the fighter level, which I was really mad about, not to mention 90% of my weapons are dwarven axes, so hes pretty gimped right now, and Ive decided to not play him until I figure if I want to spend more cash and redo the redo feat, or just go with battleaxes and other martial weapons. I mean its kind of reasonable that you don't get the dwarven axe feat because I didnt take fighter as my first level, which is a pain in the rear, I guess Im kind of wondering on other peoples thoughts on this, should you get the feat, or not.

Just a note, on the DDO character planner when you take the fighter level it does give you the feat, in case some of you were going to say that it should work out that I get it with the fighter level because of what the planner said.(Not bashing the planner, its extremely useful, and would recommend to anyone and everyone.)

All Dwarves who receive Martial Weapons proficiency also receive Dwarven Axes free. Doesn't matter what level you take Fighter/Pally/Ranger/Barb at, just that you have Martial Weapons Prof. That being said it sounds like you hit a bug with Fred if your BC is taking a proficiency hit with DA now.

Ah, the old "Dwarven Cleric wants to use axes" thread. This pops up about once a month or so.

Dwarves will get the Dwarven Waraxe exotic weapon feat for free IF AND ONLY IF they have the Martial Weapon Proficiency.

So you can take eleventy billion levels of cleric and never get it for free, but it will be magically granted upon the first Pally, Fighter, Barbarian or Ranger level.

If you have a level of fighter on your dwarf and do not get the dwarven axe proficiency you should bug report it.

Someone didn't understand how dwarves get the dwarven axe feat for free... that's EXACTLY the thread I was talking about.

Our friend the OP just had a unique situation. If he/she/it understood how the feat is granted it would have been obvious that he/she/it needed to bug report it.

You say to-mah-to, I say shenanigans... I guess.

His mistake wasnt assuming All Dwarves get DA Proficincy. His mistake was assuming the Game was right instead of him. He was totally corret in his initial reasoning. The game is broken in this regard.

Alright Ill get on and bug report it today, get to save some cash for all those cleric funds :). I get how the feat is granted, but like Impaqt said, I was trusting that the game was right on this one, good thing I posted or that would be one less dragonshard and plat for me to use something else on, I initially was just so po'ed I was just gonna wait until my three days were up and then switch, I guess Im sort of lucky, other than the fact that my toon atm is very gimped.
