Happens more often than you would think.
Gauntlets of Strength and Gloves of Dexterity (usually Ogre Power Gloves and Dexterous Gloves) appear to be 2 named items on very odd loot tables, capable of being pulled anywhere from WW to ATDQ chapter 1.

Items with gold trim around the examination window are named items. They have been in since the game was released, just a rare drop.

Almost every time i level a new toon and i'm running through waterworks or stk i have to explain to somebody why they or their buddy pulled +4 str or dex items in a low level quest and why it wasn't a bug - half of the time they still don't understand me or why i'm asking if they were gloves of dexterity or dexterous gloves.

My personal favorite along those lines is still my Feather Falling Boots of Feather Fall I pulled long ago...Still have them in the bank as a curio on my capped cleric.

lmao. was playin last night, and decided to check out the pawn shops. found a underwater action helm of water breathing. but it only had 1 clicky of water breathing, so it was pretty much useless for underwater stuff. :P lmao. what is also funny about this item, was that the charge was used!!! :P why??!
kinda reminded me of those ff boots of ff. i love those kind of items. getting the free stat buff with 1 or 3 clicky of the same buff, but limited. lol.

Yah...sometimes it is clear that all those clever gnomes making items have a sick sense of humor like that...like those Everbright Bows I see. I know that melee is supposed to be better than ranged, but seriously, using a bow to bash an ooze seems kinda over the top....

What I like best is the dwarven axe RR halfling.

I think the point of the post is that the quest is WW, the highest level in the party is 3, and the gloves are min. level 9...
Not that I'd complain about such a pull :D

My Dwarven Rogue has numerous of these. They seem to be inexpensive for some reason. :D

In the very early game, weren't there docents dropping with various RR's on them besides WF?
Seem to recall it, but have slept since then....

Well that is a bug imo.
a min lvl9 item dropping in a lvl2-3 series quest (since end reward doesn't scale with difficulty) isn't right.
As a rule I think at the max an item +3 min lvl vs the quest your doing should be the limit for high end rare rewards... So those should only drop outa lvl6 quests minimum, not 5 or lower.
I know its a static item rather then lootgen that is the reason, but the loot system should take that into account too.
Similarly it should allow lower min lvl rare named loot to drop out of high level quests.. So when we run the stuff we run at max lvl, we have a shot at getting rare/semi uber static drops like the Sunblade or Stone of good luck - shouldn't be forced to farm lower lvl quests for items that can still be appropriate for the lvl you are at.

It's a named item, like the Sunblade, Mace of Smiting, Dwarven Thrower, etc. that can drop in ANY chest in the game. People notice it more often on lower quests because pulling a ml:9 item with +4 dex is pretty standard. People pull them in WW more than other quests because that's where the majority of people run at that level... but I've seen them drop in the Reaver, the Necropolis, and Co6 as well.
As far as it being a bug... to each their own I guess. If you pulled a Sunblade out of WW, would you bug report it?

Yeah, my WF sorc was on that run (can't tell, cuz not on kill count - durn gimped toaster......).
Our group was torn between booting him (HATE -muhahahaha) or simply staying VERY close to/stalking him to see if that luck could rub off.
Yeah - he was twinked.
But who isn't at this point?
:)
Oh, and Carosal (sp?) is one of the best clerics I have ever grouped with.
Props to IFV.

Yup. It's fun to turn people into bubble heads.
The most disturbing drop is the Dwarven Axe of Greater Dwarf Bane. What kind of a sick twisted serial killer psycho Dwarf came up with that idea? I'm surprised it wasn't vicious also. Stupid Dwarf haters.

Don't forget rr: dwarf so only dwarves are intended to use it thereby killing not only the dwarf at the end of the blade, but the dwarf wielding it! :D

Well the Gloves of Dexterity are not a Bound on Acquire item, so it would be useable/tradable...

Featherfalling Boots of Featherfall
Underwater Action Helmt of Water Breathing
Proof Against Poison Necklace of Neutralize Poison
Disease Immunity Necklace of Remove Disease
Greater (Elemental) Resist Ring of Resist Energy: (Element)
