Here are a couple of ideas to improve gameplay and fun. Whatcha think or what ideas
do you have?
1. Rogues can ambush players and if they fail their saves..stolen gems.
Put more effort towards spot and listen
2. When it gets dark, so does your screen unless you have night vision like elves.
potions and goggles would eliminate this problem.
3. Allow characters to be evil...challenge anybody not just in Pvp
The other person would have to accept...put up an item to win or lose
Ex: Evildude challeges Lightdude. E puts up con+3 ring, L puts up 20k gold.

Sorry, but no thank you. I have fun now and I probably will not leave this game until A. they close down, or B. Something similar comes out with random dungeons.

An element of role playing is missing form the game......just not sure how to incorporate it just yet

The monster play mechanic in LoTRo is ingenious. Set up an allotted area for it. Call it the Mournlands for the lore faithful. Allows players to take on the role of the monsters for a little bit of time. As you gain "notoriety" or "infamy", you gain access to more powerful monsters. And make it level appropriate instancing, no level 16 player character against a first time in level one slime. I also believe that this would add to the role play aspect of the game...and give everyone their evil fix.
Not a fan of full on "Faction PvP", so the evil alignment wouldn't be that big of a deal to me.
Also, a larger PvP instance for guild vs. guild for those that are interested in it.

I wish they had put in place proper darkness rules but I think its a bit late in the game to redo all the dungeons.
Rogues stealing, we don't need griefing. You want that, I assume that if you fail your skill check I can vorpal your head off and take all your stuff (you are dead right?)
Duals, don't need it. Take it to PvP if you really want. There is too much dev time already put into PvP we don't need to put more in.

How about a general chat area where everyone is connected by proximity. Like a bar or tavern where the sounds of hundreds (okay maybe tens, this is DDO after all :D) of people create a din of conversation. You could actually go up to someone and introduce yourself, chit chat, etc.
I like DDO very much, but to me it is lacking a mechanic of social interaction.

That's what guild chat and party chat are for

1. No. Never.
2. People will just turn up their gamma.
3. Positively not.
hate all except maybe the light idea and it wouldnt really be worth it. The other 2 well you can proably get those on a pvp server of some other game but those wont help make this game better and in fact would drive away many players including myself

Anyone who has dm'ed a PnP group knows that the fastest way to kill a game is to have evil in the group, anywhere from one person to all. Even all evil groups just aren't as fun as they sound, and quickly disintegrate.
There are instances where darkness comes into play on your screen, Obscuring Mist and Blindness. Otherwise the devs have repeated a number of times that there are engine limitations regarding number of available light sources in any given space that prevent them from having more fun with PnP-type lighting. I thought the Rainbow in the Dark quest was a great advance in imaginative use of what they have to work with.
