it would seem the average plat farmer is not used to guild invites. inside of two minutes two accepted my guild invites after spamming me, and quickly logged. high-larious.

They did so to take a nice full size screen shot of all of your guildies' names. Then they use those names for their next set of tells.
Who's laughing now!?!:D
My best advice is to just right click and report them. End of story. Good luck.

Rubbish pure and simple. I get tells from plat farmers if I am anon or not. I have characters that have been anon since creation and they get tells from loser plat farmers.
I actually did this to a plat farmer one time. He got in guild and everyone gave him a toung lashing. Then I repeatedly invited / kicked him. Same amount of plat spam as before. No more, no less.

Pretty much, evade Plat Farmer Detection as if you were an Xwing Fighter in the Trenches -- keep focus on your target while in game.

You know... one of the plat farmers' tells (on Argo, at least) includes their phone number. If you have free/cheap long distance (310 area code I think... maybe 301, not sure), or can afford it... wouldn't it be great if we all spammed their phone lines to tell them how little we think of their sorry *****?

Has technology increased enough that hordes signing onto a single website will no longer cause it to crash? I've not heard of this in a long time, but back in the day, if a website got too many hits in a day, it would crash hard... if this is the case, maybe we need to make some sort of concerted attack....

If you do it by general browsing, the site will slow, but not crash unless its really badly built. A well designed site should simply refuse excessive connections.
If you stage a MASSIVE and overpowering browsing assualt then you may be able to overload the servers ability to even refuse connections. Be aware however that unless done by accident (ie - a world wide everyone goes there kinda thing after the web site shows up on the news) that such an assult could be considered a Denial of Service attack (and yes, there are DoS bots that will attack for you and can overload even a large website from 1 desktop). A DoS attack will likely violate your terms of service with your ISP (which may get you kicked temporarily or permanently from your ISP) and may be a crime in some parts juristictions.

i think it's hilarious that people smack talk how bad plat farmers are and everyone says they don't use their services but they still spam tells. You know why? Because some people, and I think it's waaaaay more than you think, are using their services. I know this due to simple economics. Supply and demand. If there were no demand for the plat farmers, there wouldn't be any reason for them to be here. People are using them. And its not the average casual gamer. It's the hard core guys that want all the uber loot and to show off their elite ways but it is tarnished by an illegal way of accumulating the goods or money. Flame this post all you want but its true and that won't be changed. The very same people that curse the farmers are buying from them. I hate hypocrits and there are many in this game.

Actually I like telling Plat farmers that they are supporting terrorism with this illegal act and that I am notifying Homeland Security with thier username and website. I actually got one that stopped spamming me while he kept spamming my guildies.
I think DDO should give us a tool that sends the Pit Fiend directly on them at whatever mail box or corner they are hiding from and kills them then loots all thier plat off all the toons on that account, then adds that coinage as end rewards split up equally among all the people who beat him in part 5.

This is called a DDoS attack (Distrabuted Denial Of Service). It is highly illigal and will get you sent to prison for quite a few years. Suggestion: don't do it.
Instead, do a domain lookup and email their domain host, telling them what they are doing, and have them shut down legally. Domain hosts do not like spammers on their network as much as we like having them in our game.

or people could just stop using their service and they would be gone in no time.

A major increase in tells and a raise in pricing? Is it the rising cost of gas or the looming new game release?
