Neither is right or wrong, more which is more valuable to you.

Mask = 1 Teleport Clickie / rest
Ring = 1 Raise Dead Clickie / rest

All of my characters that are capable of using the Ring of the Ancestors are also capable of using raise dead scrolls (a fair amount of my characters are not good-aligned). That means I'd probably take the Royal Guard Mask. :p

On my casters, I like the Ring.
But,
One a Fighter type, I like the Mask because Im lazy and like to port thru town instead of walking.

That's an incorrect assumption. Which is better is completely situational and not degree of self interest as you would imply.

I don't need teleport on my wizard, so rez ring is better.

I don't need rez on my cleric so teleport is better.

My sorc and UMD types carry rez scrolls so the teleport is probabably marginally better (cheaper in the long run, you teleport once a day, you don't always need a rez scroll)

My barbarian would be better with teleport. Fighters can get rez clickies on their weapons in the shroud, the Mask is the only teleport clickie available to save him long runs.

To me, really depends on the character and build. Overall, if the question is which is more valuable to ME? Well, then the Rez Ring. One can save me "Time" (Mask), the other (The Ring) can save "my party". I have still used the Rez ring in the shroud, and it's level makes it invaluable to myself.

In my view, the mask is a luxury - one to facilitate faster travel on my non-caster/non-UMD characters.
The ring is a tool, and one that can save us from a party-wipe if something goes wrong. (and everybody rolls a 1 sometime)

So, I'd say that the mask would be more valuable to me. But the ring is of greater value to the party. Since I tend to try to think of the parties needs above my own, I'd have to weigh the Ring as the better item.

Another way to look at it is the difficulty of acquiring these items. 5 minute run to grab the rez ring, or do all of Ghola Fan for the mask?

Yup, in fact, the rez ring are realamally annoying now compared to a tier 2 garbage green steel item. The green steel has a few advantages over silly ring, since anymabody can use it not just good aligned, and Green Steel is True Ressurrectimion, not silly raise dead, so ally get 100% hp instead of like 10 hp. Also, if spend a lot of time in shroud making tier 3 stuff anymaway, probably going to have tons of leftover small and medium ingredimients to spend on clickies like true rez. And can even make the green steel into a decent dps weapamon with holy and goodburst, so it usefumul all around.

Now the telemaport hat... mmmm... tasty hat.....

Ring is not as valuable now that we have raid crafting.
