1. There was a patch to the game to fix some problems. This is done to satisfy the users. Its a good thing.
2. Something with the patch went terribly wrong and messed up some of the game mechanics. Its a bad thing.
3. Turbine responded as soon as they became aware of the problem and worked to resolve it with a fix at the earliest possible time they could. Its a good thing.
These guys are doing their job. Sometimes trials and tests just don't cut it and problems don't make themselves obvious until it goes live. This is an unavoidable truth, especially in the world of MMOs. The fact that the patch came shows that Turbine is still putting their effort into this game. The fact that they moved as fast as they did to correct the problem shows how high of a priority DDO is to them.
I don't see why people are being so critical of Turbine for this. Glitches are an acceptable part of an updated game and small downtimes to correct glitches is an acceptable solution. All these people complaining about Turbine's technical incompetence with the patch and service competence with the timing of the fix are really just showing how spoiled the community has become with this game. A few quests didn't work and we were forced to spend a fraction of our evening interaction with other human beings in the flesh or some other activity, and suddenly Turbine is the idiot son of Satan.
Now its over, you can go back to running your ubers 24/7 and complaining about the lack of response time now. But, as far as today went, Turbine did a good job with addressing the issues.

The fix was prompt and as far as I know comprehensive. Turbine did not just a good job but a great one on this one. Way smoother than most patch days. :D

Hrm, I dunno, if the worlds were down, wouldn't you be able to infer, that they truly did stop turning???

LOL was about to say exactly the same thing...
Good job to Turbine for finally removing Create Undead problems.

Are you joking? All they did with last nights fix was undo the change to the shroud that they implemented in the morning patch. IE they unfixed the bug they were so adamant about fixing. Comprehensive? Hardly...
Edit: And to the OP, you couldn't be more wrong. Most players here have a basic understanding of the way the world works and we are willing to accept mistakes. We are not however willing to accept complete incompetence by a company that we pay for a service. And the real killer here is the consistency of the incompetence. The DDO community is so far from spoiled it isn't even funny.

Don't let it get to you. We have as many opinions, as players. Odds are, the day we all speak with one voice will be a sad day, indeed.

Sadly, that's the most encouraging thing I've ever read on this forum...

I just wanted to say nice job guys - yesterday had to suck for those fixing the patch (nothing like a surprise 20 hour shift), and I've never seen such a fast response to a bad patch in any game before, ever.
Thanks for the hard work and hopefully we'll get some more/better testing on the next patch so you don't have to get pulled through the ringer like that again.

Can we please get a confirmation that it was indeed fixed and not just reverted to the status pre patch? I have heard conflicting answers and for some reason all the people patting Turbine on the back for their prime time "fix" lat night seem to be silent on the issue.

You're impressed with the speed of the response? DUH!
That was like... the apocalypse patch. Several quests were made completely unplayable... Quest objectives were broke, Creatures were broke...
I can't even fathom how such huge bugs were allowed to make it to live servers. Taking the servers down to roll back the changes wasn't a quick fix. It was a necessary knee jerk.

What do you mean by fixed? The crystal in part 2 can be destroyed, but part 5 still has the same problems. The good news is that portals do indeed appear after part 5 is completed and they are labeled and everything, so we can now go back to craft.

Thank You. That is what I wanted to know.

Compile time on the current client is 17th April. I would therefore assume it wasn't 'fixed' last nightr, but they reverted to the old client. However, the character data wasn't rolled back, merely the client. But that's just my guess.

Which is actually cool to know, because I had a discussion recently with someone about whether or not they could do this. It only seems logical that if character data is stored separately from game data (I don't even know if that makes sense as I don't understand stuff like this), that they could change one and not the other. Looks like this confirms it - and also gives us some ammunition in the future (like every time the mess up, we can just ask for a roll back without reverting character data).

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.
Not really impressed with the bugs thrown into the game in the morning, but I am somewhat pleased with the fact that there was two hours of downtime as expected in the evening. I would have been pretty choked if the two hours extended into ten or twelve or twenty, as it has in the past.
