Ok here is a new build I've been thinking about with the M7 love given to palis... normally I prefer a 2rogue/3pali/11 fighter but with the smite evil changes I'm thinking this build might be pretty nice too.

So here's the build, comments welcome!

Do you really think you'll need that many toughness feats? Between dwarf toughness and pally toughness you should be more than comfortable with just one toughness feat I would think.
No power attack?
A feat spent on a saving throw bump...on a paladin?
What type of combat style? Axe/board or THF?
14 CHA is a lot on a dwarven paladin. I would think you could start at 12 (maybe 13 depending on the tomes you've got lying around) and not miss a beat considering the dwarven spell defense enhancements.

I find HP to be very important. Nearly 400 without gear is great. Perhaps I might trade one toughness feat out for power attack though... you might have a point there.

It depends on how high the reflex save ends up being with all my gear at level 16. But yeah, reflex save is HUGE on any character with evasion. You can never have enough.

I would love more CHA, not less. I just cant afford more. CHA gives bonuses to many of the paladin powers.

1 Toughness, I understand.

2 more for 36 HPs?

Huge waste.

400 HP without gear? Yikes!!

You're overdoing it dude. As for "Might trade Toughness for PA", do it, you'll do the clerics a favor. More HP is nice, but with 400 HP you're over the squishy line... and you're without items. You could drop by over 50 HP¨and not feel the difference, except in the SHroud on Elite... and maybe RwtD Elite.

Whatever you'll gain rather than HP will be most benefitial, evenb more PA. PA is more DPS, more DPS means the monster will be killed faster. Killing faster means less damage over time, which means less healing. HP doesn't make it easier on the cleric, it's not like if you'd have 200 HP...

Trust me, you're a dwarf with paladin levels.. plus you'll probably take Aura of Good Saves... so your saves will be insane and you'll make every single non-trap in this game. As for traps, trying to get saves high enough means getting 72ish Reflex saves... not worth the cost. Only aim for the spells... and don't forget dwarves may have up to +5 versus those. :)

Don't take this personal, but...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Oh boy, how funny. You know, that reminds me of an arguement a friend had in waterworks.

You see, she has a level 14 (capeed at the time) paladin with something liek 30 Cha. She also had a level 14 ThF barbarian. She made me a request of a build of, between the two. More DPS than her paladin, but as good saves as her and good self-sufficiency. I came up with a build with lots of Str and Con, some Cha. Actually, 12 Cha. That was more than enough for her character to reach great saves, and her LoH wasn't greatly lower.

So, when she was in waterworks, some guy (I think it was a fighter) went incap, or maybe he was low on HP... not too sure. Anyway, she hit him with LoH and get him up. She types a "Sorry, that's all I have" in party chat, laughing of her low Cha. The tank asks her back what is her base and modified Cha. She replies 12 base, so 14 (+1 item and a tome - or maybe enhancement). The dude is horrified by the answer and starts a speech on how vital Cha is to paladin. He tries to teach her how gimp a paladin is with such low Cha and on how much stronger a paladin with Cha, as we all know, paladins' powers depend on Cha! He also putys the emphasis on the fact he has a capped paladin, so he obviously knows what he's talking about.

She politely replies that she has a capped paladin, too. That her paladin has a very high Charisma and that she knows what it looks like. She also explains him that this character is different and tries to fill a different role. She's laughing inside, but she's too nice to be mean to him. He's lucky he didn't tell that to me.

He keeps on insisting that she needs Cha. So, she says "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing" and leaves it there. She tend receives a tell for the TwF warchanter who problably had 11 Cha. He tells her that she "rocks" and that he loved her speech on the importance of DPS.

Really, Yuhjn, paladin do benefit from higher Cha, but the bonus received from items is more than enough. Put your points elsewhere, where they'll most benefit.

My Dwarf Pally started with 11 Cha and it was plenty.

22 Cha (11 start, 3 enh, 2 tome, 6 item)

His saves are through the roof and his LoH is hits for 130. At 443 hp (no items) he has plenty for any content in the game. For Elite Shroud just use Rage potions and perhaps swap in an item for near 500 and you are set.
