Hi all, I have 3 toons - none higher then lvl 7. I am currently working on building a Pally and I'm hoping for some assistance.. Currently he is a lvl 4 pally / lvl1 fighter. Should I continue down the Pally route or start building up the Fighter side?
Ultimately, I want this toon to have excellent AC and staying power, but I don't want to be a completely defensive character.. right now this toon has a strength of 18, charisma 16, wisdom 16, con 14, dex 12 and int 12 (all stats do include item bonuses).
Any suggestions on how to achieve this? Thanks in advance!

The main reason to take fighter is for extra feats. So you should take a close look at available feats and figure out whcih ones you would like. Then you can determine when it is best to take fighter levels for the extra feats. Fighter 2 is a common break as you get feats at both fighter 1 and fighter 2. I'd go paladin 14 fighter 2 by defaut, but 12 / 4 has advantages too.
Paladins basiclay have two ways to get offense. Increasing strength, and taking offensive feats.

Paladin is a funny class. After the 3rd level, the value of each additional level drops by a bunch. You took 4 levels, so you can cast spells, but frankly, I'd go fighter the rest of the way, and also consider two levels of rogue for evasion (You can't wear heavy armor with evasion, but that's ok just get full plate made of mithral, the mithral drops it to medium armor).
Fighter gives you lots of feats, you can take several that will help your AC and still have plenty left over to help with the attack side of the coin.
If you want to maximize your AC, there are some forum threads that talk about the things you need to do that. Ultimately, it's not your build as much as it is gear. You need uber gear to have uber AC.
Mithral bp = light = evasion.

You can't evade in medium armor either. So Mithral Breastplate is best. You drop 3 armor bonus, but hopefully can make it up with additional dex bonus.
