+5 Mith Breastplate (+10 Armor / +5 Max Dex)
Take dwarven armor mastery III.
+8 Dex mod total = 26 dex

Farm for a a Kundark Delving Suit so you only have to take DAM III and save 6 AP.
Ill, he asked for the best not the most easily obtainable. :)

Fearsome of something decent....embrace your inner dress. Just go fearsome robes with a decent second mod, lets you have deathblock, fearsome, and other nice swappable things.

For my ranger/rogue, I gave up on armor and just wear fearsome robes at level 16. I get more mileage out of UMD'd stoneskin, blur, and displacement and it's simpler to manage.
I could conceivably get up to a 50AC vs favored enemies with the right enhancements.... might matter in some quests.

I'm rolling around with these armor options:
-+5 Mithral Fullplate
-+5 Mithral Breastplate
-Fearsome Robe of XXX
Only a few dragon kills on my new guy and still have not picked up a Kundarak Delving suit, but I can hope :D For max AC when I'm tanking a lot, I forego the evasion and wear the mithral fullplate. Dwarven Armor Mastery II and a Daggertooth belt leaves me with plenty of extra dex bonus to stack onto the mithral plate. When I think evasion is better for the situation I lose a couple of points of AC and run with the Breastplate. I have not needed to go with the fearsome robe yet, but once I hit 16 and decide to run something like the Shroud on elite that will be what I spend my time in most likely.

I'd use one of two options:
a) Fearsome Robe of 20-30 Lightning/Fire resist
or)
b) +5 mithril chain shirt (KDS is better), with the third tier Emerald Claw necklace upgrade from the Cursed Crypt to get your Fearsome dose there. That's what my 11th dwarf tempest is wearing.

Isn't Mith chainshirt the same as Mith BP? +9 Armor / +6 Max Dex?
If so, only need Dwarven AM II, or an open belt slot.
Having said that, I no longer bother about my AC -- I'm a TWF tempest ranger with 400 hp. If I wanted AC, I'd put on a shield. On the other hand, I don't particularly care about Fearsome either in most cases -- I'd rather they stay and die.

That's true Gren but I will again point out that he said what was the best which of course is still the KDS. :)
I'm with you on Fearsome armor. I'm tired of chasing critters around.

I might go Vol Plate, lose 1 AC and 1 Reflex, gain 1 Slot ...

Yep, Chain is same as breastplate, the difference is you need a higher dex to get the benefit of the chain.
