View Full Version : Land/Air Balance +3 Deflection Question

I am working on my first crafted item (currently have green steel blank goggles). It appears that at Tier 2 you can get 'balance of land and air' characteristic which should give +3 ac deflection boost. Has anyone crafted an item with this? Does it stack with other deflection AC items (i.e. Protection Cloak)? If it does not, then it seems a bit worthless, no? Most folks already have a +4 or +5 deflection item on, so this characteristic would not provide any benefit.
Any insights into this?

Deflection bonuses do not stack. If your asking if this effect is bugged and mistakenly stacks, then no it does not.
Worthless effect? no. The purpose of this effect is that it supplies allot of moderate bonuses to a character in 1 effect/1 item slot, not that it supplies an excellent top tier effect. Just the combination of +3 ac +3 resistance and +11 balance is a nice bonus - espeically considering its basicly free and only 1 of the 3 bonuses that grant something besides a clicky effect.

Appreciate the feedback. I guess I still question if I would value the +3 deflection bonus here. To actually 'use' that bonus I would have to take off my +5 prot cloak and see a drop in my ac. I can't see myself doing that but I understand that someone might see this as an opportunity to free up an item slot.

Like shade said, its about total item slots.
Its the same reason my ranger wears the white scale robe. I have a +5 pro item, but I take the +4 pro from the robe to save a slot. I have heavy fort, but I take the mod fort from the robe to save a slot. Its not the best at all of those, but it allows me to wear other stuff.
You could also make the item iwth 45hp and +11 balance and not worry about the AC. I was thinking of making that myself.

This discussion has helped me decide what characteristics to take on my green steel goggles. I took the hp enhancements (positive tier 1; earth tier 2) which should allow me to craft both positive and earth enhancements at tier 3 providing (I hope) +5 prot and heavy fort. That will free up my helm slot and cloak slot.

Same here...although I'm taking a different route for Velorn. Going EOM, PEM and EM supershard. This will give my goggles Greater Acid Resitance, +15 HP, +2 Con skills, Stoneskin 2/day, +10 acid resist (for total of +40 resistance), Heavy Fortification and +5 Protection. Gone is the Minos Legens for a +6 Wis helm and the +5 protection necklace for a +6 con necklace.
