Welcome to another edition of Tell the Team!
How it works:
I'll be asking you questions, and here in my thread, you tell me: What comes to mind; what you think; how you feel; etc, as it relates to the question(s) at hand. If you missed the previous week's questions, they'll be listed below and you can answer them here too. Thank you so much to everyone for offering their answers!
Ground Rules:
Before we get started, let's lay down three ground rules if you're going to participate in the thread. These ground rules also have a few samples to help clarify participation:
#1 - The single most important rule to remember while participating in this thread is:
No personal attacks.
If you disagree with the opinion of another participant, that's fine, but no one can make anyone agree to their opinion. Thus, please refrain from commenting on the personal qualities of others who offer their responses to the question(s). Personal attacks go against forum guidelines. Questions asked will be subjective, and some users will have a lot related to their opinion, while others may only define things in short phrases. All forms are acceptable.
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "Do you like ice cream?"
Player 1 "I hate ice cream because it's too tough to scoop"
Acceptable "I like it. It's not that bad to scoop once you let it sit on the counter for a little bit before you try to dip it Player 1."
Acceptable "I like it but I have the same problem as Player 1. What brand is it Player 1?"
Acceptable "I don't think it's too hard, I never have any problem with it. I like ice cream."
Unacceptable "That's cause you're a noob..."
Unacceptable "You don't have enough experience with scooping to be talking about how difficult it is"
Unacceptable "How about you back that opinion up with some numbers. If you can't prove it don't bring it here"
Everyone has the right to offer their response to the question(s), whether they have scientific data to back up their feelings, or they simply just "feel" a certain way towards the question(s).
#2 - Participate as well as discuss.
If you would like to join in the discussion, please be sure to offer your response to the questions as well, in addition to your conversation with any other thread participants
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "What's your favorite color?"
Player 1 "Blue"
Player 2 "Green"
Acceptable "Purple... hey Player 2, how come you like Green?"
Unacceptable "hey Player 2 how come you like Green?"
Please be sure to take the time to offer your own opinion of the question(s) before you engage in a discussion about other people's opinions in the thread.
#3 - Don't recycle the above hypothetical examples in your responses ;) as it spams the thread.
-------------------------- Let's Get Started! --------------------------

Perma-death sometimes.

All female Drow Nude Beach.
Question 3

Water Works. There are some nice reward items that are great for several levels.
That's all

1. First, Milestones and collections - Second, Specialized Character Building - Third, Alternate Rules - Fourth, Anything but any of those things RP player run events are all terribly boring.
2. Mounts, AKA Steeds, AKA Horse, AKA Dragons, AKA Donkeys my dream would show my character using the primary mode of friggin transportation! I can slay a Dragon, a Titan Warforge, the Demon Queen herself and extraplanar monsters of the nastiest sort, but I have to walk everywhere. Thats lame T! Maybe just in the open areas for slayers and such. I know you have them...look in the old box you keep everything I love. Possibly behind the old notebook you found my Monk in.
3. Well it's a toss up. One is Rainbow In The Dark, and not just because of the stupid torch (although thats friggin cool) Mostly because of the variety of monsters (Gnolls, Golems, Gelatinous Cubes, Beholders) and the fact that there are traps! Every quest should have traps! Traps Traps Traps they slow down farming and make people (if only a little bit) pull back from the zerger mentality. My other one (which was my sole favorite until the new mod) Thrall of the Necromancer. It's got traps (i've established how much I love traps right) and it has an end boss (also a feature I love in every quest. The monsters are not as diverse but hey it's a necro quest, what ya gonna do? Probably the most important thing is there are extra chests for groups with picking or knock ability and it provides a fair amount of experience points, which some either offer far too little (Proof Is In The Poison!!!!!) or far too much.
Anyhoo there you have it :)

1: Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
I only have time to play one character, and I like to try and advance him as much as possible. That means I go for the raid loot I need, do all quests on elite, and farm crafting ingredients when I get a chance.
2. Beating the Abbot.
3. The Shroud right now. Because I like to feel like I'm accomplishing something for the little time I have to play... and I can at least collect a few ingredients each time I run it.

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Only
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special Raid items, etc)
Short manning all quests ie: soloing them if possible.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Getting a plus 3 tome at this time so I do not have to constantly repeat the same quest over and over again. It will be a +4 or +5 tome in the future (so please make the drop rate higher)!
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Titan........... because it can be done with as few as 3 people to complete the preraid and quest (which means you do not have to wait for a long time to get the quest organized), but one can take many others along too, and it drops some of the best loot in game (chattering ring, seven fingered gloves, belt of brute str, gyroscopic boots). It is also fun because it requires coordination between players.

This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
Not really, I play around with builds, but mostly just trying different things out. I avoid looking for other peoples builds, and I never plan on equipment, etc. Just try to find a build that I enjoy and ways to tweak it to make it a tad more enjoyable.
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
I am a closet RPer. I have been to a few of the player events, never really got into player run games though.
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
I enjoy making new characters and not tweaking them, I figure they have to earn their place.
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Not really. Just started doing raids actually.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Taking a shifter ranger through a new wilderness area complete with traps (bungie pits, swinging traps with spikes, etc.), cliffs to climb, being able to hold to the edge of a cliff and move laterally, being able to hide after an attack and not having everything know where I was, and being able to track my prey. Also to have the traps and spawns random.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Gwylans. It was the first combo area that I went to, it is where I was taught how to pull correctly. I like it for the nice balance of outdoor and indoor areas, nice rewards for the level, and you can actually use the terrain to fight small groups at a time. The traps are fun, the layout is nice, etc. Just a fun area. (and having Giant Stalker Knives as reward now and then really helps, as giants fear the little halfling rogue with dual giant stalkers).

This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations) - Not really. More a min/max kinda guy. Try to build the best barbarian, best cleric, best sorc...y'know, pure class one job type dealio.
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc) - I would if Yaga would start the events again.
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc) - Not really. We had a few start within our guild, but it went by the wayside.
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc) - Oh heckz yeah! All of the above.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about? - Ive no idea. Lemme get back to ya!
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite? - Right now its the Shroud. Each part is different from the last, each person has a job, its a very good quest...very lively, very exciting, very enjoyable. I enjoy the Shroud. I used to love VON3 because of all the different aspects of it. VON3 is probably the 2nd best quest in the game.
Answers in Cut with a Greataxe Red.

Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc) I dont but my guild has a static group once a week on a server other than the one of guild resides on (to enforce a no-twinking rule)
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc) I'm trying to get my main character completed on all quests in the game on elite
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
They fixed the Abbot raid
They added a 4th and 5th difficulty setting to the raid dungeons
Added improved static loot to the 4th and 5th difficulty settings
They added a "account based bank" for all characters of an account to share
They added individual voice volume controls
They alphabitized the buffs a player has when you "examine" them
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The Twilight Forge and The Titan Awakes. For me the most fun quests in the game. I run them every time my timer expires. As for why, perhaps it was the months of work we did trying to kill him before the nerf patch. But more likely, it's just a really well made quest.
I just wish you would put in a 4th and 5th diffiulty in that raid so that capped players can still get a challenge from running it.
That should just about do it!

Welcome to another edition of Tell the Team!
If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
I've missed a few, so I don't know what has already been asked. I think I would ask something along the lines of what features are most useful currently for guilds, and what we would most like to see.
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
Not a huge pvp player, but I always loved playing the team vs team death matches in halo. Doesn't work as well in DDO unless you limit by class. DDO I enjoy 1v1 melee, but it's just something to do in spurts between quests, nothing serious-like.
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
I attended the Risia Town Hall meeting, and to be totally honest, I found it to be chaotic and not productive in the least. The main things that were brought up had all be posted and rehashed on the forums, and anyone who is playing on Risia should be keeping track of the forums, it is a test server, after all. I much prefer the forum given by DDOcast, where multiple questions can be sorted and filtered, and then presented to the devs without all the spam. And with DDOcast being weekly, the devs have opportunity to keep us up to date. Yay. Thanks again Jerry. I may not always agree with Jerry's views, but I love what he and the DDOcast crew do.

Tough one for me here. I do all four. Specialized character building and Milestone/Collections are definitely at the top of my list. Look at my character page in my sig, for goodness' sake! I have also run and participated in player run events, and who doesn't love nekkid tempest?
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Being able to participate (and win! this is a dream after all) in that sweet japanese game event that i saw the video of. That looked like DDO meets Mario, weeeee! Wish I could have been there... but then I'd have to move, learn a different language and... Two languages in one mind? No one can live at that speed!
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Toughie! I run them all, many of them many, many times. I even wrote a book about it! (exaggerated, of course). Sorry, I can't narrow it down to one, just too many factors depending on mood. I still think gianthold has some of the best quests. I love the Crucible, and the Tor, and at the risk of sounding cheesey, I think PoP is a brilliant quest, if a little on the easy side. Not really a big fan of any of the Necro/Orchard stuff, though Inferno is creative. The Vale quests are all topnotch, imo, and I've been having fun running them all into the ground, recently.
Bah, I guess Crucible. It has do-able puzzles, range of enemies, some fun traps (more disarmables would be nice), tough fights, tests and rough situations with optionals that incorporate ingame skills and player skills... you really feel like you are trying to run the gauntlet in this one. Crucible is aptly named. With all of that though, the quest is still completable, and it uses every member of the party to get it done. Fun. Nothing newer out there with this sense of achievement as my first Crucible Elite run. (of course now its all about who can do it fastest! ;))

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations) Not my primary focus, but yup, experimenting is fun
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)A little, but not much
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)A couple oddball runs with the guild plus all my chars remain untwinked until L10 (ok, I broke down at L9 on my bard)
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)well capping isn't anything special, it just happens. No char I have has done all the raids and collectibles aren't worth the time once you start twinking
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
You finally gave us underwear that wasn't fugly? I mean with this new death damage we are seeing more naked ppl...
Ok, other than that? More char slots. We need them. I don't even care if I have to pay for them. Heck I'd pay the extra $10/month value of a second account as a premium service to double my number of slots. Please. Pretty Please.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I refuse to grind any quest. I think there are a lot of fun quests in the game though. I do enjoy Tor runs, one of the best mix of things to fight in a single quest in the game. Von 5 can be fun with a good group, although its followed by von6, one of the worst designed quests in the game so that offsets it a bit. When you are in the mood for it mindless slaying like kobald assault and devil assault are fun. Really a variety of good quests is the thing I like about DDO.

Proof is in the poison at low level.
I like it because it's listed as level 4 when in reality it's easily a 7 or 8. It's the only level appropriate challenge I've faced in awhile.

Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Stormreach had been changed to be like the book City of Stormreach. Areas of Khorvaire had been added and you could explore Sharn and the Mournlands. Special quests altered a shared time-line for the public spaces of the world. You could ride airships and the lightning rail between instances and see the country side going by... VON and ADQ no longer required re-flagging...
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Hmmm. I always look forward to taking a new character through VONs 2 and 3, and Xorian Cipher...
Creative settings, unusual threats, just enough puzzles, good length (although a VON 3 gone a cropper is a nasty, nasty thing). Also, all of them set a mood well. Honorable mention to Rainbow in the Dark for the awesome lighting.

Currently, I'm slowly working on a shopping list of items for my Sorcerer. 48 AC, Here I come!
D&D Online had removed all enhancements, and in doing so, removed much of the numbers inflation currently plaguing the game.
Rainbow in the Dark. I just love the atmosphere of it ^_^

That is about it. I have tried a constant group, but it didn't last very long. I would like to try and hit every quest, but more so I like building unique characters.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Probably getting a character to the level cap. I have never managed to do that in any MMO game I've played, though I have come close.

What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I really like Redwillow's Ruins. I love the outdoors areas, and the jungle is very neat looking. Also the story is fun and the bit with the giants is always fun.

Q: Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
A: Not really. I don't reroll for "Favor upgrades" either. Not gonna kill a character for being 28-points, and I don't have enough free slots to make replacements.
I do have a haggle bot, but he's kinda stagnated at 9th.
Q: Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
A: I hate having capped characters, so thats a milestone for "losing interest"
The only thing I regularly collect is "collectables"; the grind for X stuff doesn't scratch my itch.
Q: Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
A: My dream would involve the words "Gestalt" and "Warlock" ... and probably "Ready-Whip" and "Charlotte the Scarlet" cuz thats how my dreams roll.
Q: What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
A: Don't really have a favorite, since I'm not a grindy kinda guy. I do enjoy the gianthold quests because they are thematic without being intrinsically repetitive.

This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Question 1--Specialized Character Building and Milestones/Collections. The best part about DDO (and DnD at large) is how much room there is for customizing characters, combining classes, and making some very powerful specialists or wierd niche builds. I also like running raids, getting gobs of loot, and developing and making those characters more powerful. The thing with milestones, to me, is that they have to be milestones of character advancement, like getting all the +2 tomes, not silly ones like doing all the raids on elite.
Question 2--More spells. Especially useful movement-related spells--being able to cast the fly spell, teleport like Orthons and Barbezu, turn myself ethereal, ddoor and actually go somewhere exciting, etc. These could be really fun elements of the game, but just aren't there.
Just more spells in general would be great. And I'm not talking stupid stuff like Ooze Puppet; I mean useful things such as Greater Stoneskin, Prismatic Spray, and Mordenkainen's sword.
Question 3--Not sure I really play any quest constantly, but I'd have to say my favorite quest was the Crucible. Interesting puzzles and challenges, fairly challenging mobs, and good loot/xp (for the level) made this one a great quest.

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
I have one favor capped character. I'd like to get my other primary characters there, but there's just no opportunity when the name of the game is "Shroud farming or bust." I also collect raid items - previously on all characters, but with things like shards of power taking up space I've had no choice but to sell off many of the banked trophies. Most of these are completely 100% garbage, of course, which I've kept mostly out of a bizarre sense of spite. One of these days I'll get that Silver Necklace of Prophecy and complete the set...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
I have a bow-spec'd pure ranger. I made him because I had happened to find a number of useful bows, and thought he would be fun, powerful and interesting to play. Three strikes and out on that one. He's still bow-spec'd, but going TWF (even without any wounding of puncturing shivs) is vastly more useful and less frustrating in every single situation except against Arraetrikos. So much for that specialized character.
I also have a heavy-repeater spec'd rogue/fighter. I built her because I wanted to have a rogue available for trapsmithing, but wanted to try something new and interesting, and had again happened to build up a stock of heavy repeaters. She was actually fun and useful (tore up the low level stuff, pre-RXB nerf). Then the level cap went to 14 and improved precise shot was introduced, and I realized that it was mathematically impossible for her to get the right feats until after the next cap increase (even swapping feats with fred, due to the specific sequence of class levels) - hello reroll! My new copy of her is 16 now, has all the feats, better crossbows, is 32pt instead of 28 - and the only thing I enjoy about her is the greater dragonmark of passage, so I don't have to run around so much.
Needless to say, my other characters are a pure fighter, sorcerer, and cleric.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
The Accursed Ascension having been reverted to the point just after the timer was implemented and the ranged exploits fixed - you know, where it was actually both fun and challenging and not completely ******** beyond all comprehension - and then had the task rooms fixed to also be fun instead of the worst elements seen in any video game since the 1980's Atari version of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Well, I do find myself playing one quest constantly, but it's not because I love it. It's because I like to advance my characters in some fashion when playing - like just about everyone else - so I have no choice but to grind the Shroud. That's where everyone else that I enjoy partying with is, too, so that is pretty much that.
In theory, Rainbow in the Dark might have qualified, if everyone else didn't just crank their gamma and blow through it.
I spent a lot of time co-leading Twilight Forge raids in mods 2 and 3, back when few people were up to the task. That was fun, until I severely burned-out on dealing with pickup group raids. Fortunately we had at least beaten it a few times by then.
Wow, those were some rant-a-licious questions this week. Good choices.

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
Why do Rangers not get enough variety in Bow attributes? Since bow DPS is limited due to Rate of Fire why not add additional creative attributes or higher Ranged abilities for Rangers? (i.e. increased crit range beyond the normal feat, etc.)
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
Cool concept but ultimately innefective since there are so many questions and the probability of getting straight and fully knowlegable answers is low.

Wow... Merlask lives on I see.:p
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Currently? The Shroud. I love that it combines numerous tactics and allows for alternate means of completion. Example: I have seen 4 distinctly different tactics to clear out and finish part 2. All work and only differ based on the style of the group. Part 3 allows for differnt ways to complete but gives you bonus chests if you complete the puzzles but does not require you to do so to move on.
All done.

Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Answer #1- I would go with specialized character building. As you play you should naturally run into the social and milestone options. Haven't tried seriously playing alternate rule sets, but I could give it a try.
Answer #2- That DDO was more like 3.5, the DnD I play with my friends and family.
Answer #3- I just dig Water Works. They are a neat series of quests. Yeah, we've all done them too many times but they still have a great feel to them. Who doesn't like plunging into the water in part three surrounded by kobolds? Trying to grab that hidden chest? Killing the kobolds on the ledges above the prison in part two? Diving after the zombie victims? Looking for the random (yay-random!) location of the poor brother in part four?
Adding encounters in the sewers along the way to the quests is just icing on the cake.
I know I am one of the games more opinionated critics, and I don't voice my approval often enough, so let me just say WELL DONE!

Milestones and Collections. I don't partake in the other options. Does that make me borign?
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
I get in a group and we're clearing a quest, what quest doesn't matter. The group is good and we finish it in a good amount of time. After the quest, as often happens, I end up sitting around talking to one of the group members. I find out he's one of the developers and I get to pick his brain. This is kind of a cheap answer, I guess.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I don't have a single favorite quest. There's many quests that are a lot of fun and that's exactly what's great about the game. A single quest being above and beyond the others would be ok, I guess, but the real draw is that there's tons of fun quests available at any given time.
I guess if I really had to narrow it down I would say The Pit. I don't run the pit a lot because it's sort of hard to navigate and there's no meaningful rewards for me at level 16 there but I greatly enjoy the fact that the quest is a massive departure from the norm. It feels extremely unique, and it combines multiple interesting quest mechanics into one quest. There's jumping puzzle portions, puzzle puzzle portions, navigational challenges, straight up fighting. The diversity of activities in the quest makes it fun. The setting itself is even unique in a lot of ways, and the story behind it is rather entertaining. It feels like someone put a lot of love and effort into it.

All puzzles were removed from the Abbot and were replaced with different ones that are fun (not necessarely easier, but fun), and the Abbot now have DM voice over.
Bonus one: My lvl 16 rogue was now able to walk in the lower lvl Explorer Zones and advance her quests in these.

Twilight Forge: Awesome quest with great monsters to fight, different kind of traps manned by monsters, an ingenious way to seperate the party in different places and to reunite before the end, great puzzles.

Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
I'm particularly proud of my question - it's been something I've been wanting the devs to ask the players for a while.
My question is - which of the following looting styles do you prefer:
- Plain old random loot in chests
- Named loot in chests (e.g. mod 5 had LOTS of this)
- Collect a certain number of rare items to create an item of your choice (e.g. tapestries, shield pieces)
- Run a quest a number of times and collect a choice of reward (e.g. 20th raid completion)
- Rewards at the end of quest series (e.g. Deleras, Tangleroot)
- Crafting (which is really a hybrid of many)
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
A mix of A and D. Free for all I find tiresome because every class tends to have weaknesses against other classes (there is no Killer Class) and same class competitions tend to be more fun.

This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
Make it more controlled so players can't spam general chat. Implement some kind of moderation or formal queueing system. Otherwise, I found the town hall fun.

I have a haggle bot (Haggle 67) but the rest of my characters are pretty generic. I have tried no-twinking and that was fun. I've also tried a static group and that was fun too (Kargon might argue with me about that).
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Eliminating all exploits in the game. Making it so players who use exploits get some kind of disgrace marker such as a permanent (or two week) 'curse of the exploit' graphic above their head so everyone knows they were exploiting.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I like Coalescence Chamber because I love the design of the quest and that all the mobs can be banished.
I like the Shroud because the raid is well designed.
I like Prison of the Planes because the storyline is great.
I like Tempest Spine because it's 12 people running through a normal quest having fun.

Ok, I'll play along...
1) When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
* Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
* Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
For me completing raids is most important followed by collecting special items. What makes the game a pain in the @$$ would be the numerous things imposed on users to have any chance of getting something reasonable. As a marketing VP, I would suggest reviewing the high-value demographic and determine whether some of the grind requirements fit with the profile of people who have a life, job, and other obligations.
2) Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
A few things come to mind...
First ,allow anyone with unlocked 32pt builds to upgrade their original toon to a 32pt build. This is a huge annoyance that seems more than fair to folks who have invested so much of their life within the game. Perhaps tie it to 2,500 favor or something if you must, but don't make it near impossible like so many other things. Our first toon is special and it's time they get some thought.
Second, create something with more randomness & adventure. Essentially free-roaming random-generated areas with relative risk ratings. For example, as a wizzy, if & when he can ever cast the Gate spell, the first thing he will do is take a group someplace unknown. Sure the party may wipe in 30 seconds, but the unknown and randomness of it would add a missing adventure element that simply isn't present in scripted scenarios. Putting my marketing hat on, I would strongly recommend the creation of a some sort of user collaboration system where Turbine could benefit from and effectively tap into the vast imagination that the D&D community has to offer... for free.
Third, a customer service group that actually takes the customer into account and renders decisions that are reasonably sympathetic. It's one thing to ignore people who clearly are lying or trying to get something for free. But when users who have been around since Day 1 or so submit an issue without much prior history, I would give them the benefit of the doubt. This happens in Real Life, why not in Stormreach?
3) What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Actually I like the new raid part #2 the most. The randomness of the draw that forces each group to organize, adapt & overcome can be very entertaining.

Mainly been doing ultra specialized characters, though I'm not power leveling them so full realization of their usability takes a while. Have started doing some experimental combos, but have finally ran out of character slots for more.
I also like trying to pull named items from quests, these don't need to powerful, or even useful, I just get a kick out of getting one myself. I recently got an item named "Bottle of Air", its just a underwater action trinket, but I thought it was the coolest thing since I pulled it. No named items in Mod 6 made me sad. :(

Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
This use to be Tempest Spine, but people don't tend to run this all that often anymore. Doesn't really seem to be one at this point though. Seems I'm mainly either running Giant Hold quests, or Vale Quests. If you include explorer areas though, the Desert easily beets most quests for the amount of time I have spent in it.

Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
1) Roleplaying; static group play; milestones: completing every quest at least once on my main at or near level (proving hard as I'm getting ahead even without doing anything remotely like xp farming. Still, staying within 1-2 levels of the recommended).
2) Everything in my inventory and UI staying where I put it last.....
3) I don't rerun quests in that fashion. But my favorite quest is Xorian Cipher. It got a round of "Wows" from everyone on my group the first time we did it and its still fun every time. I'm always looking forward to getting a new character up to the point I can run it. Its also one of the few quests I always run normal/hard/elite for fun instead of 'just' because of favor/xp/loot reasons.
Why is it so fun? The xoriat spheres rock! Its just plain fun to dodge around them while fighting and laughing at folks when they don't manage it. The enemies are challenging without being totally crazy; nice mix of melee and spellcasters. No "ugh, I hate those guys" monsters like rusties, oozes, scorpions, or things that phase out all the time. The party split is well done and interesting. The quest really benefits from all classes, imho, what with traps, runes, and balanced combats. The invisible bridge is really cool. And the rewards are really good. Favor (10 between the two parts), XP (very nice without being crazy high, imho), and the loot (5 chests; shots at a couple unique items that are very worthwhile). Heh, I actually have terrible luck on the uniques, but its still cool to know you might get one.

Xorian Cypher. To this day, it remains my favorite quest. Not just for the great named items (Planar Girds, Chaosgardes, Reaver Rings), but because the quest itself was such an original quest back in the day.

1) I do not engage in any of the activities listed on a regular basis (so no favorites).
2)My dream goes something like this: I just finished respecing my original two year old character to 32 points because I had reached the favor plateau required. This made me so happy I went to the armor shop in House K and using the new "dressing room/examinination window" picked out a very nice looking set of armor (or robe) to wear around town without having to buy everything on the list and THEN try it on. Well this made me even happier, so I wanted to show it off to my guildies who were, of course, all hanging out in Meridia. I went into the Twelve and asked Geriatrus to teleport me there - he said, "Of course, the Grandmaster has told me you were aiding us with our troubles in the Vale. I would be happy to send you safely there". This was because I had already run out to Meridia and spoken with the Grandmaster and agreed to help him (very much like the Hobgoblin cheiftain/teleport at Spinterskull). I was so glad that I didn't have to /death for the one millionth time - because unnecessary death continues to be unsettling even after doing it so many times. These things made me and my guildies so ecstatic that we couldn't contain ourselves and decided to mount an overland expedition to the farthest reaches of Xen'drik. Because just as we couldn't contain our excitement, the confines of the Stormreach walls and it's immediate surrounding environs couldn't contain us....
The entire continent of Xen'drik was opened into one huge open area to explore (the 'instant transport' system to an adventure area remained wholely intact, but for those of us wanting to explore the vast continent (or fight our way, to say, Tempest Spine) the entire landscape was open with potentially thousands of random encounters based on the tried and true 'every X minutes roll 1d6. On a 1 you encounter something' (thank you Gary!). Every terrain area of the continent had an encounter table covering creatures logically found in those surroundings. With straight (not scaling) XP awards for encounters defeated - making it impossible to camp a 'spawn point' because there wasn't one - as encounters were based off time and totally random (it might be an encounter with some orcs (not so much xp) or perhaps a group of hill giants (more xp than the orcs) all depending on the encounter 'die roll'). There was even a very small chance (and I do mean very small) after each encounter that a chest with appropriate level treasure to the encounter could be generated where the last creature died (to simulate looting the bodies and finding somthing useful). The percentage was so low in fact it wasn't worth the time to try to 'farm' encounters for chests and the treasures were only of average quality for the level of the encounter as well - they were nothing more than a nice ocassional surprise. To reduce lag, the beautiful 'multiple instance' system the city of Stormreach currently uses was implemented for each 'section' the continent was split into. Thus allowing multiple parties to use the same area, possiblly stumbling across each other in the wilderness (perhaps our party coming across an individual who thought he could go the wilds alone and saving him from becoming lunch for a bunch of trolls. The possiblities were only limited by our endurance - could we make it all they way to the farthest southern shore of the continent and possibly back again before being worn down by the creatures and harsh terrain? What sights would we see? What new ruins would we discover??
It was a very good dream.
3) Have to say right now the Shroud, hands down, is my favorite. Maybe because it is new, maybe because everyone gets a chance to help in every area, maybe because of the really cool loot you can tailor to fit your character, or maybe just because its just plain fun to run; but even after running through it with three capped characters multiple times each, I still find myself looking forward to when the next group will form and take on it's challenges.

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations) Many times my character builds go hand and hand with my role playing. That said its a close second I like to make characters that are a little out of the box so that they fit my rp story line rather than "end game" effectiveness.
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc) Definately my favorite here I roleplay every chance I get.
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc) Again, within my roleplaying guild we have had static groups, even a perma death group. I enjoyed this quite a bit, but it was actually hard to get all 6 people to show up every week because of real life scheadule conflicts.
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc) This is definately last on my list. I have never capped a character and hope I don't until ddo stops raising levels. I have done a few raids, but they definately are not a priority. Its nearly impossible to get 12 roleplayers together for a raid and most of the time if I pug the leader rushes through the quest barking orders. Collecting special items? I do collect items from time to time I have a rather nice collection of throwing daggers although they just sit in the bank until the right character concept comes along and I have tried to put together a shield collection based on the symbols embosed on them ie Silver flame, mark of the keeper, etc, etc, but I haven't gone too far with that yet.Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about? Just a dream right? Can't believe its true? Well I'd have to say that the entire world of Eberron opened up to the players, over land travel, no instances outside of quests, evil alignments. A chance to have player conflict incorperated into roleplay. Of course this is way beyond the games technical scope and it would take mature players. I would hate to see someone "gank the noob" and clam it was because " I'm role playing evil" *sighs* its just a dream after all.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite? I like most of the quest, but I do have one in partcular that I absolutely hate... Stealthy repossession. Most of the time one member does 99% of the quest. It is my belief that folks just want to get it over with. I like quests that stress cooperative play and this one most certainly doesn't.

Question 1
Specialized Character Building - re-rolling. Sounds wierd, but I like trying different build combos, to see how they "feel" meeting quest challenges in different ways.
Alternate Rules Sets - Static group (3 RL friends). Soloing - (/defensive on) where I am in life, I have to work to fit DDO in. peak hours are off limits, extended grouping is out of bounds. (/defensive off)
Question 2
For a (nearly) full list :D : go here (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=1623619&postcount=26) . In the spirit of your question: A tunnel and sewer unification system, integrating outdoor tech, and leading to an underground bazaar, larger than the tent, but not so extensive as a full ward. Also serves a a portal to a slew of level 4-8 quests.
Oh, and a lean & mean Warforged body style for use with rogue, ranger, & wizard classes. Just wanted to mention that. /cough
Question 3
For where my characters are at, today:
The complete Tangleroot/Splinterskull series. I can alternate between the outdoor areas, and the fortress. Mail, auction and resupply are not too far away in House P. The bank is a bit of a run, but I usually don't feel the need to cache most of what I find, here.
Runners up: The Pit, which I've yet to finish cause it scares my buddies too much. It's like a toybox in there. And, Stormcleave for the loot/XP ratios. Searing Heights makes a better Outdoor area challenge; with the right quest, it would easily trump TR/Splinterskull.

Oops, I missed last week. :o So, here's a double.
1) You already ask everything worth asking!
2) A.
3) IMO, 'Tell Tolero' and Dev Chat on the DDOcast have replaced the Town Hall. Town Hall didn't seem to be so much about giving answers as collecting questions. And since it was mostly attended by forum personalities anyway (at the very least, I recognized almost all of the people posing questions).
----------
1) A little bit of all, but mostly just to socialize. Doesn't matter what character level, what quests, or what loot, as long as I'm questing with friends (ok, it's partially about the loot :p).
2) DDO added a low level raid and rebalanced XP for low level quests! There is nothing worse than leveling a lowbie only to find groups running the same 5 quests over and over.
3) Hard to say as I don't run quests over and over. I do like the Vale quests and The Shroud a lot.

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
Will there ever be mounts for PC's? Or even more differing types of enemies? (i.e. horses, Gryphons etc.)
Would be great but if I load up Risia, my computer crashes - A LOT - not enough hard drive space and keep losing connection to servers, so i do not have Risia loaded anymore. Anyway you can move the meetings to Stormreach?
This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Specialized Character Building ((5)-ranged combat specialist actually have one lol, “haggle bots”, (4)-experimental class combinations)
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc) - Never logged in during these times so I don't catch them :(
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc) - Nope, not good enough yet :)
Milestones & Collections ((1)-Capping characters, (3)Completing all raids, (2)-Collecting all special items)
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
My cleric had more spell points to keep the party healed rather than the extremely slow cooldown of healing wands all the time, and/or the mana cost for healing was extremely reduced
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I don't have a favorite actually. I enjoy every quest I go into, would love to find more groups to do other raids rather than just the Reaver and Dragon. Hard to find PUG groups for raid flagging :(
My responses in red :) I just can't wait for the new content updates each time lmao.

Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
Can we get a good named tower shield for those high-AC Intimitanks? How about a +5 Mithral TS of bashing with distruction or fire damage or something else thrown on it. Something to make me glad that I took Improved Shield Bash.
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
A. Although the Team or CTF might be interesting. Just as long as it doesn't take away from the core focus of the game.

Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)I guess I match the first and fourth bullet points. I just started experimenting with a Haggle bard and I've got an interesting Initimidate tank that is a lvl 8. I'm trying to get some special items for the tank to max his AC, so i've been hitting Xorian Cipher (for Planar Gird and Chaosgarde) a lot recently.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Am I in Von2? J/K. I would have to say a dragon spawning in the Marketplace with no warnings would be pretty sweet.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
POP. Why? Because it's meat and potatoes: several rooms with bosses. There are some good named items in the quest, Good end rewards, and I can get a group together and finish it in 30 min. Very important for someone who has two little kids.
Thanks

1a. No, I only build good characters that can offer value to groups.
1b. No, this isn't "My Little Pony MMORPG", this is DDO. Roleplaying, player events, etc. don't belong in DDO.
1c. No, I think the standard DDO rules are just fine, thanks.
1d. Yes, getting to 1750 favor for +2 Tome on all characters is a goal. So is getting all the raid loot that I want for each.

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
when will we see more respec options to allow us to flow with game changes? the game is dynamic and i understand that changes need to be made sometimes, but i would really like to see some way to roll with this other than the re-roll
edit hmm, seem to have misread this one. ok, question i would ask the playerbase.....hmm, i reckon the loot style question someone else mentioned earlier would be good, cant think of anything else. and ill leave what i originally put cuz id like to know.
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
i rarely participate in pvp. havent tried much of it, but from what i can tell thus far, you jump in to fight someone and then someone else snipes you both while youre trying to have fun. im sure there's some way to have a private duel, but still would not capture much interest for me. rather get some xp or loot.
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
i participated in it and thought it was interesting, but ultimately fruitless. i just dont know if anything had an impact. iff it had an impact then i like it.

spec: yes. during xp boost times i try out experimental builds. outside of xp boost times i do spec building. i pick what i want the character to be good at and then i try to max that out while still being viable in other areas. oddly enough, the one ive enjoyed the most is my max-haggle spec character. not sure why as he is semi-gimped in quests, but thems the brakes.
social: every so often (if i hear about it) then i participate in played held events. i usually dont hear about them until after the fact though.
alt: think ive done a couple nude ts runs, but its not a regular thing for me. with the quests scaled toward the min/max or twinked groups i rarely handicap myself to run level appropriate stuff and dont generally enjoy running lower level stuff.
milestones: yes, every character i have strives for max at what they do. cap for all, max favor for 2 (so i can open any part of most any quest on e for alts), and gathering all gear to max out their niche.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
(1)that i was offered to be payed to play and (2)ddo announced it was getting major additions to respec options.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
there is some factor about every quest such that i dont find myself playing any one quest constantly. i will list the ones i really enjoy (and put why i dont constantly run here)
ww (i like it pretty alright, but i do a lot of rerolls so i see it more often than i really should so i like it less than i used to)
gwylans stand (i love it, but after lvl 8/9 there's better xp and loot to be had)
tear of dhakaan (see gwylans + low celings hinders jump casting)
the pit (i love it, however, i dont like to play solo, or i wouldnt play this game, and the only way i can get a group for this one is if i babysit everyone through it b/c almost noone knows it. babysitting or soloing = not fun for me)
ts (love it, but hate having to hold someone's hand through it every single time. someone ALWAYS gets lost. also, loot is weak for anything over level 8)
von 3 (love/hate all the whining about the beholders :D:p)
madstone (love it, but again, at least one person always needs hand holding)
stormreaver (love it, but someone always insists on getting back sps after buffing doubling completion time. come on people, he gives you infinite sps)
shroud (i reallyreally like the actual quest, however i REALLYREALLYREALLYHATE the 1/2 hour crafting sessions at every altar somone always instsd on taking, even if you specifically agree beforehand to have none of that nonsense. pls move crafting outside of the quest or allow us to back track and craft afterwards b/c apparently people cant handle going in with a game plan.)

A: Rank the following items based on what you (the players) think the devs should concentrate on:
Developing new quests
Developing new feats/enhancements/classes
Fixing the bugs that are most popularly complained about (ladder bug, lack of rolls to-hit while chasing enemies, etc.)
Communicating what the devs are doing for the game on a daily basis
Other (please specify)

A: My MC Rogue was accepted by groups as being the capable rogue he is.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
A: Von 5-6, I've loved it since it came out and I like that the strategy needed for von 6 has changed time and time again. The only thing I dislike about the quest is that it should be completable by non-twinked on-level parties, at the moment you need to be majorly twinked or above level to complete (or plain lucky) on normal.

If you were a Developer designing a new quest, what new twists would you add to the quest that could be accomplished using existing game technology?
For Example,
(1) A quest dominated by anti magic fields with only a few pockets to be found where spells could be cast
(2) Switch the gender of toons entering the quest
(3) Have a dormant golem in a room with two runes on its back. Players with a high disable device skill can activate one rune to prevent the Golem from attacking players who pass through a set of doors. Players with a high repair skill can activate the other rune and make the Golem fight for them against the other monsters in the next room.

This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
I like the idea of open communication but its hard to imagine moderating a mob of players coherently
This week's question(s) are:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
• Specialized Character Building. For me, the point is to have fun playing a character of my imagination on my terms rather than a min/maxed character. I have a Halfling fighter with the dragon mark feats who uses a 2 handed sword because it amuses me. I have a cleric who cast cause wounds, specializes in necromancy, and spell penetration rather than healing.
• Milestones & Collections (I make a point of finishing every quest at least once with my main character no matter how painful or expensive)
• Alternate Rules Sets (I play regularly in a 3 man group in addition to PUGS and guilds. A 3 man group offers a fresh experience on well known quest.)
• Social Activities (I dabble in role playing and the occasional nutty event like the nude tempest spine quest)
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
I dreamt that all of my close friends from college who used to play PNP with me 20 years ago were now playing DDO. Alas, my dream has not yet been realized.
In my wildest dreams, each new character would have an origin quest that was unique to his or her particular server. No other player or character on that server would be given the same quest. This quest/back story/ epic goal would have the following features.
(A) Be unique to that sever. No other character on that server would be assigned the same origin story – or at least the story should only be repeated once every 3 months.
(B) The quest/ story/ epic goal should give the player an optional focus to develop the abilities of their character to be unique from other characters.
(C) Achieving various goals consistent with a characters individual epic story would unlock special abilities or even feats. This would be analogous to an player specific house favor system. For example, a minor back story could be that the player had a family tragedy associated with hobgoblins (let the player flesh out the details). If that player completes all the Tangleroot quests on Elite in which they are the highest level player they gain +2 damage vs. hobgoblins. If that player completes the Tear of Dhakaan quest on Elite in which they are the highest level player they gain +2 damage vs. hobgoblins.
(D) A few lucky players would take part in telling a story for a temporary epic event with an actual quest. Instead of an NPC granting the quest, this player would grant the quest to other players. Perhaps the underground stone halls of a defeated dwarven clan must be reclaimed from Ogres. Once this quest has been completed by 500 other players the quest series is considered complete. Remember, the player
(who should be a dwarf character) with this epic goal will be doing the work of recruiting other players to reclaim the halls – he or she is the one who grants the quest not an NPC. In this way, players become story tellers invested in the success of the game experience of others.
(E) Players need to be able to make a tangible and permanent change to their server for an epic sense of accomplishment. Get 500 other players to run the dwarf quest and get your characters face carved on the side of a mountain next to other dwarven heroes ala Mt. Rushmore. Send 1000 players into the library of Aerenal to retrieve arcane knowledge and have a spell on your server named after your character; instead of Melf’s acid arrow it could be Mystero’s acid arrow, for example. A character could have a food item named for them at an inn, or the inn itself could be renamed after that character. Statues, portraits, names inscribed over arches – there are lots of ways a player could leave their mark on the world.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
If part of the question is which quest do I find myself happy to run over and over I would have to choose a 1st level quest since all my characters end up doing these. My favorite 1st level quest hands down is SEWER RESCUE. Here are my reasons
- The quest length is not too long or too short.
- It has floors spikes! I love floor spikes. They make my heart jump more than fire or acid when I don’t know they are there. You can usually avoid spikes with decent timing and yet they can’t be ignored like elemental traps via a potion or spell of resist whatever (fire, electricity, etc.). There is something visceral (and perhaps Freudian) about spikes.
- There is one shrine – always a nice feature.
- It has an Ambush – we need more attacks from the rear.
- It has scripted events that tell a story – chasing kobolds!
- It has a moving drawbridge – moving parts make the game seem alive.
- It has optional challenges that support a variety of tactics. The spiders that spawn if the chest in the tunnel can be ranged from a ledge or fought with spell casters in the back and meatshields in the front. The arcane skeleton presented a minor challenge before all lowbies were equipped with all the best gear. The arcane skeleton was something of a secret to a few PUGS I ran with in the beginning – almost an Easter Egg. Secret challenging optionals are cool.
- It has trenches! Many fond memories of PNP included chasms. Most of the 1st level quests are in sewer tunnels with little change in elevation. SEWER RESCUE has a trench with the drawbridge, it has the area by the shrine with high ceiling rafters that can be scaled to reach the arcane skeleton, and there is the ladder up the wall to reach the kidnappers.
- It has a decent variety of monster types for a quest of its size (spiders, kobolds, arcane skeletons, bugbear, and hobgoblin cleric). Water Works would need about 20 different monster types per level given its size to be proportional to SEWER ESCAPE.
- AND MOST IMPORTANT – It has a heroic storyline that is easy to follow. You are rescuing the damsel in distress not just killing sentient life forms to steal their loot. DDO provides a rich narrative background for many of its quest but there is a catch – you have to make the time to read the dialogue. I often feel pressure to skip or skim through dialogue boxes to keep pace with other players who already know the quest or just zerg through everything. Many times, I don’t have a good understanding of the quest background and lack the moral certainty to explain my actions. With SEWER RESCUE, I knew what I was doing, I knew why I was doing it, and I felt good about it.

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
* Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Yep
* Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
Yes Ghinsuu ... Halfling slashing spec lil dragonmarked superball thing.
* Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
Occasionally a fun player event
* Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
Did a nekked run once
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Hmm my halfling was enlarged and stomping through the marketplace, squshing all those silly warforged barbarians between my hairy toes... speaking of which why do halflings have shoes? :p
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
Toss up. Gianthold tor, Invaders!, Ritual Sacrifice.
Gianthold well I play a halfling its fun to kick the cr** out of things whom you dont come to their knee caps

Answer 1: I'm a 'pretender' sort of goal player: Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc). If I do luck out and am able to get ready for a raid and actually participate and actually complete it's fun but not so much that I focus on getting ready for it again. The Reaver's Fate is pretty much the only raid I've played more than twice.
Answer 2: that there are actually ways for my rogue to 'complete' quests that don't rely on him killing forty orcs.
Answer 3: I don't really have a quest that I'm in love with. I don't really have any that I know that I hate. The Pit and Crucible are annoying only because I never took the time to learn them (I like the swim bit in Crucible - it's pretty much what I mean in answer 2 - 32 move silent & 43 hide weren't enough not to get noticed on normal though :)).

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Although I pretty much do all of them. The most I do are as follows.
Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
I like to do this alot. I enjoy building the non traditional builds just to have fun. The barbarian/ranger or the sorc/paladin. Stuff that seems like they would have an advantage in some ways.
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
This is my main form of play. Although I dont take it as seriously as some, I do measure my level of achievement by what raid boss I have defeated recently or what items I have aquired.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Being in a party with Gary Gyax, The Keeper, Tolero, Eldorodo, and Codog. All just playing quests, and having fun cracking jokes with Gary and hear him talk about how seing a game originally scribed on paper was now a fully interactive video game. Speaking with him about DND and see the imagination he had about the game. Walking through the landscapes listening to Keeper talk about certain aspects of the scenery and explaining what gave him the ideas to create them. Joke with tolero about the Merlask days. Enjoy hearing the background information about certain quests from Eld, and constantly waiting as Codog took notes about ranged combat. :D Yeah, that would be wonderful.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
By a good margin is Tear of Dakhan. Its hard to really pinpoint one aspect but I would guess the main reason is the PNP feel of it and the way it really flows. No puzzle solving, no BS, just fight. You assault a hobgoblin strong hold and take it down nothing better than that. The other part its my favorite is that its two quests in one. Find the pieces of the tear in addition to the main quest. So there's alot of replayability with it. The good thing is that there is no real ONE way to win with that quest or special strategy. Its pretty much get in there and kill or be killed. On elite, that quest is a definate challenge.
However, I tell you what. Rainbow in the dark is a close second and after a few more runs I'm sure it will be first. No quest in DDO feels more like a sit down PNP session than RITD and the textures and landscapes are Asbolutely stunning!

Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)

Specialized Character Building (This is the only game I know of that you can multi-class)
Milestones & Collection (The gear makes the character)
Social Activities (I like to get things done with people I know and can joke around with)
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Plenty of groups and loot that I don't feel is just taking up backpack space, I can work towards something rather than just getting lucky and pulling this or that.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The Reaver Raid or PoP, PoP is a good loot run, quick chests - quick quest, the Reaver Raid, short Raid - I hate working on a quest for a long time realizing that it took more from me than it gave back.

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
How many other games do you play at least as often as DDO?
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
My thought is I'd rather not have to download, install and keep updated a separate DDO client to be able to attend a dev chat.

The one most relevant for me would be:
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
My girlfriend asked "can I please play DDO too?"
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The Crucible. It's the one quest I don't mind repeating "just for fun". I like all the challenges we are presented with, and since I can do them, it makes me feel like I'm good, which is always a good feeling :) (the quest is rather easy when you know what to do).

Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
1) Ranged based - Stasis build.
2) Ranged combat ROA increased to the ROA of melee.
3) Prior to mod 6: Buring City in the desert ...Mod 6: Running in the vale and Ritual Sacrifice.
1. Milestone/collections--capping characters, maximizing favor on my original 28 point Elven fighter (he needs Coal Chamber, Abbot, and Shroud), getting him the best equipment.
2. Implementation of the Weaponmaster PrC enhancement line (require the appropriate feats/skills, lvl 6 fighter enhancement choice as a start)
3. Although nobody seems to like it, I really like the Catacombs for it's story line. The redemption of Margurette is quite moving. I also like the quest in House J which you re-visit later and go past the Iron Golems because I always wondered if there might be more to it when it first came out. I like the Twilight Forge's story line as well, though wish the Restless Isles could somehow become an encounter area. For the challenge of coordinating a raid demanding many different sorts of skills I like the Shroud. The Pit is also a nice quest for the twitch-happy (for the record I have never made it to the top of the third furnace). For suspense, I like running Coal Chamber with a friendly group--the intense worry I have of falling is quite thrilling, when it's over!

1. While I would prefer Roleplaying, I find myself building specialized characters more often then not.
2. That there were finally GNOMES in the game, and that I could roleplay and specialize build my GNOME character.
3. Delera's chain.

Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
QUESTION 1:
Specialized Character Building: I have four multiclass characters, and am planning a fifth! :D I think they're terrific fun, and DDO is the best for letting players have such a big hand in how their characters develop.
Milestones & Collections: I try to collect items. So far I've completed one shield, and maybe one day I'll finish a tome. Though frankly the drops are so rare I'm not counting on it! ;) I also completed one dragon armour, then bought others due to not getting scales during Tor runs (had 25 consecutive runs with no scales and thought, that's it I'm buying lol). I love to collect even though I think drop rates are way too low on scales and tomes. The new raid crafting is super, and much fun in my opinion.
Alternate Rulesets: This would be my third fave. For fun my guild likes to shortman stuff; we like to believe we can do it if we try.
Social Activities: These can be fun. Enjoyed the DDO anniversary very much. :)
QUESTION 2: A Dream About Something Wonderful Happening!
I'd be dreaming about a new race!!!! and another new class!!!! Viva the new hairstyles, facial features, mystery of getting to know the new class and race attributes!
QUESTION 3: My Favourite Quest
The Shroud!!! I love it to bits. It's got such variety in each of the five raid phases which keeps the progression entertaining. It's fun making stuff. I hope we get to deconstruct raid crafting mistakes though! :p Non raid quests I like are Coalescence Chamber and Ghosts of Perdition. They be groovy!
Thanks for your interest,
Cheers,

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
Each week we ask questions about a range of subjects. What is a question you would ask?
I would ask if the community really would like to get rid of the multiple run for flagging quests (I personally vote yes) ;-)
Question 2
In any game, what types of PVP do you enjoy engaging in?
A) I don't enjoy PVP
B) Free for all death match
C) Team vs Team
D) Dueling
E) Specialized PVP rules sets (capture the flag, tag, etc)
A, definitely
Question 3
A "Town Hall" was held on Risia, where the Community Team went in game to have an open forum for players to voice their concerns. This is a little different format than our "Dev Chats," where developers answer questions, and Dev Chats are still an activity that will continue. What are your thoughts about "Town Hall"?
Sounds like a good idea, as long as everyone gets to participate. I didn't attend (didn't hear about it) but on my two coppers about Risia, stuff needs to fall of the auction house faster, and it needs to be easier for testers to use that don't choose it as their main persistent server...(I like the idea of a Jester that grants levels and generic plus 5 gear/weapons, but only during large installments (such as Mod 5, Mod 6, mod 7... etc))
Yes, I have specialized character building... I have a haggle bot and I have been working to perfect my roguish batman build... I keep thinking of ways to improve her!... I do enjoy it though. I also participate in a static group on one day of the week on an alternate server. I do not think much of milestones/collections although I do observe them. I like the collecting special items part... plus two tomes huzzah.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
a familiar... not the wimpy pets we have now but an actual DnD familiar that adds to my wizard's spell points and is a true companion that grows with her and aids her by storing spells and points. (correct me if I am wrong I played pnp for a short time but I was enamored with familliars... and while my familiar flew beside me I was atop a dragon as a mount... sorry I had to slip in 2 :-)
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The shroud. New crafting system and.... plus 2 tomes you got it! Only one thing would make it better!... you got it! Plus 3 tomes woot!

Question 1
What is a single thing you'd like changed about a specific character class, and why?
Question 2
A) I don't enjoy PVP

I doubt I'd participate in them. If I'm in DDO, I'm in there to participate in quests, unless performing inventory admin.
This week's questions:
Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Alternate Rules Sets - I have a character that static groups.
Specialized Character Building - a little
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
The ranger class would have had their ranged ROF fixed. This may give them a bit of love when LFG :)
OR
Instead of quests reducing to nil XP after repetition permanently, they'd reset after a week. It's likely the repetition penalty would increase more quickly though.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The Pit - Soloing with my ranger. It's not so much that I like the quest, but that I still haven't managed to obtain any muck's dooms. If I can't be bothered grouping I'll quite often just do a pit run.

Question 1
When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
Perma-death and rollplay-lite. Problem is, this game does *NOT* support rollplaying due to the virtual absence of /emotes and animations.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Boobies! Ok, I'd probally dream about gold too.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
The Vale! Love the outdoor setting and casual game play presented through this environment. The rares make it worthwhile and the loot is respectable for the most part; someone needs to check why my character is plauged with armor in the loot table - can hit 8-10 chests and pull +1 to +3 armor out of every single one.
There you go, Replies are in bold. :D
edit: forgot to say Lizard Men!

1) I like taking seemingly underpowered builds and then min/maxing them.
2) Personnally just finding the perfect piece of equipment for my nontraditional builds. It really doesnt happen that often.
3) Would have to maybe say Rainbow also. Nice combination of monsters and things to do for all classes. Darkness thing is pretty cool, I must agree. Now you just have to design the mechanic that has the different races creating different gamma levels to mimc lowlight vision, then you'd really have something.

Basically I just play the game. I like to role play and sometimes do even if the group I am in doesn't know what I am doing or appreciates it if they do.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
The dream would be about my ranger being able to "lead" his target. To be able to hit a target that is moving left or right of center. And not just a moving target moving directly to or from center. It would be about melee attacks hitting a moving target. nuff said. It would be about the ability to spin at the rest shrines. It would be about my Pally getting his aura back. I would dream about casual players getting some love. I would dream about the devs getting old enough to tell when a forum personality is blowing smoke up their kilts over some perceived game breaking rule that needs to be changed in the personalities favor.
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I have several favorite quests. Stk. The one that hooked me to the game. It was like being in a Gygax module from pen and paper. The color on the walls of the tunnels. The unknown of what was around each bend. How far did this go?? Another is Information is key. The graphic artists really did themselves proud on that one. There are few dungeons that strike me as being that well rendered. Dungeons I like to run?? COK ,Stormcleve, Gwylans Stand. I have just discovered Ataraxia's Haven and Bam And enjoy them both.

When playing DDO, do you engage in any of the following activities? List your favorite first if you have more than one...
* Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations) Only pure class characters--cleric, rogue, bard
* Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc) My guild hosts a Newcomer Night on Ghallanda for anyone who wants to attend.
* Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc) SWORD-X: All Warforged team 1x/week
* Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc) Sarrit, my 28 point original prelaunch character has all the favor, goodies and raid loot. He eventually passes stuff on. ;)
Question 2

Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)

Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
Milestones & Collections hands down, I don't have time/can't be bothered with the others listed; however, I'd be into player held events like all-guild runs big time, but my guild is just not there with the required active players to do it.
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
Discovering a ton of new content for my level range that I didn't notice before, quest lines that go into higher levels with a good story arc, loot tabels and drop rates that actually give loot good for the raid we just did....talk about a dream
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
I don't really have one, nothing in this game really "grips" me like that.

1) Miletstones etc. - Don't have time or interest in the other stuff and hate "building" characters. Things like hagglebots are not in the spirit of DnD IMO.
2)That there was no lag so I wouldn't die when the ogre is 20 feet away, or I could see the ray spell coming at me, or I wouldn't take the same damage 3 times, or..., or... or... - you get the idea. And that the game wasn't being headed to a place that it is more difficult for the casual gamer.
3)Not any real favorites. I like almost everything with a few exceptions from mods 4 and before. The last mod, while excellent in most aspects, has finally started to leave me behind, and I am hearing much of the same from other casual gamers.

Specialized Character Building (ranged combat specialist, “haggle bots”, experimental class combinations)
I have "alt-ities" I luv to roll and reroll toons, working on a itim-tank right now
Social Activities (Roleplaying, Player held events, Player run games, etc)
not really but I was into the tent event
Alternate Rules Sets (perma-death, no gear questing, static group, etc)
done some naked quests (for fun) lots of "no cleric" runs just to see if we could
Milestones & Collections (Capping characters, Completing all raids, Collecting special items, etc)
I cap all my toons, got max favor or close to it on most I do tend to work toons to the end game content casue they spen more time there
Question 2
Imagine that you are playing DDO and something wonderful happens, something so good that you can’t believe that it’s true. Suddenly things become misty, and you realize you were asleep, and it was all just a dream. What would the dream be about?
honestly more slots and bring back all the end rewards for the quest chains, no reason to changed that, there is a enough grind at end game why have a grind at lvl 3-8 when you don;t spend much time at that lvl spread
Question 3
What is your favorite quest – a quest you love so much that you find yourself playing it constantly – and why is it your favorite?
good question tough for me to say ..... I really like the shroud w/ the right grp ....I'd have to say Von 6...don;t care how many times I see it (and the dragon flagging is terrible and needs to be changed btw) seeing that red dragon is awesome even better if someone is on their firest run.... stills feels like the best raid
