I'm a returning player, with a new computer
The Problem: Everything runs great, graphics look great, no client lag, couldn't be better... for about 10 minutes.
After about 10 minutes of in game time no matter what I've been doing (even the character creation screen!) The client 'bogs down' to a crawl. I suspect this is a memory management issue because if I Alt-Tab out of the game even my windows are 'laggy'. After suffering through unplayable conditions for about 5 minutes, everything returns to normal. The problem will return again in 5 to 10 minutes, and so on...
The System
Windows Vista (fully updated)
Intel Quad Core 2.40 ghz
3.3 Gigs of RAM
GeForce 8500 GT (newest drivers)
My graphics settings don't appear to have any effect on the slowdown. I normally use 'detect optimal settings' but I've tried putting everything on the lowest graphics settings and the problem repeats itself like clockwork.
I was even hoping that SP1 would fix my problem but I'm still having this same problem after the SP1 update.
I've scoured the technical forums hoping that there was some 'known issue' causing this but I can't seem to find one.
Help me DDO Technical Forum, you're my only hope!
