Greetings,

I am looking to understand how to create a solo-pally build. I would love if it was a Pure Build but understand that might not be feasible. I have a lvl 3 pally now but I am so confused as to what Feats, Skills and Enhancments work best.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Paladins are decent solo characters, especialy at lower levels.

Solo play is mostly about durability and versatility until you get to higher levels where spell casting tends to take over the solo field.

You will only be able to solo into mid levels with a paladin unless you are astonishingly well equiped.

I can't think of any reason you would need to multi class to make your build better for solo play. Adding a fighter level might get you an extra feat here or there but overall I think pure paladin is better at the soloable levels because you eventualy get 20pt resists. Resist elements effects are extreemly important when soloing.

The #1 thing you can do isn't build but gear. You will need a good suply of healing wands, resist wands, protect wands, restoration wands and probably a few buffing wands. These will go a long way in keeping you alive for the whole quest.

You will need a strategy for going with a high AC or high damage depending on the situation. A paladin with a good 16 or better strength shouldn't have many problems there. Tactics feats like improved trip or stunning blow can also help a lot when soloing.

Feat wise it isn't any different than any other build to be honest. Toughness is likely a good way to go as are the usual DPS enhancing feats of various sorts.

Other advice: Soloing is more about knowing the quest and the mosnters than anything else. Expect to have a hard time at first if you are doing quests you don't know well. After a while you learn what your weaknesses are and which quests you simply can't complete. I think the Descent series in house D are great for training your solo skills as they have a range of challenges but are fairly short.

Look on the strategy boards for solo guildes, there are some good ones there.

Wow

Thanks for the response.

IT seems the idea of soloing in DDO is not really the best route but vialbe.

I have a caster at lvl 4 and know that they can solo well at higher levels but I have always leaned towards melee builds and was thinking of a ranger as well (saw the tempest build but still dont get it except that its a two weapon fighter)

I guess the idea is play what you like.
I love the fact that gear influnces play style, dmg and surviviability, something that other MMORPG's do not really focus on - more skill based really.

Thanks for the reply.

Soloing in DDO is great fun :), but not the best idea for your first run.

I suggest reading some of the builds posted here in the Paladin forums...along with the responses. You should get a good feel of what type of character they are and if you'd enjoy playing the build. Plus, some valuable feedback on it's strengths and weaknesses.

Hiya:)!

Welcome to ddo.
for soloing i use my sorcerer. Its really tough at low level; almost impossible.
After you achieve level 10 or 12 you start to become powerfull, at level 16 you can solo many quests and open areas.
I recently started to miss hacking things so i started a new toon. Hes a warforged fighter wiz build.
So far hes working out nicely but he is a 32
also my sorcerer is a drow this really helps out:)
when u can solo u can always play:)
good luck and happy questing and dont be afraid to get killed :D most of all have fun!

I couldn't agree less. Best way to learn a quest is to snoop around in the quest alone.

I like playing solo and in groups.

It's tought to go solo only. Some quests are just incredibly hard without a wide range of abbilities and some end fights are nearly impossibel for one person (regenerating red names).

The dedicated soloist really needs to not worry much about dying as it will happen a lot while learning quests. In the end you will be quite good at play though.
