In pnp if I remember halfling sized weapons do a die size smaller damage.
Example longsword d8 VS halfling longsword d6
So if I finally make my greatcrossbow ranged fighter will going halfling be a mistake?

Nope. Half the size, all the damage, twice the fun!

In PnP, you are correct; Small size weapon damage. In DDO, they use the same bigboy weapons as us "talls" and even get the same movement rate! They do still get the -2 base STR which equals -1 damage from melee builds. But, you don't have to worry about that with your crossbows. :)

also with that -2 str also comes +1 to hit and ac, which can help that gxbow user :)
Just dont try to carry too many gxbows :) you'll learn what burden means very quickly.

Funny, in DDO they usually do more damage!
Halfling Guile can give you up to +6 sneak attack damage. And I can confirm that you don't need a rogue to take it.
my pure halfling brb gets sneak attack damage......not much, but it means I do more damage that a similar Brb of another race. (let's not talk about Dwarfs.....ok?)
